Welcome to the DFS Army Draftkings Tiers breakdown! The Tiers breakdown will consist of a breakdown of all six tiers on Draftkings and why you should or shouldn’t play some of these guys! My name is Michael aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the article and just because I like to think I’m a great Twitter follow (high hopes). But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!

Tier One:

I’m a little surprise that this tier doesn’t feature Paul George in it, but nonetheless. My favorite play here is Russell Westbrook, he is in the highest projected total on the slate at nearly 240. However, the Domination Station likes James Harden the most from this tier. I don’t mind James Harden, but with Chris Paul and Clint Capela back he no longer needs to be the crazy usage guy. Nobody is able to stop Karl-Anthony Towns right now, he’s gone for 70+ fantasy points in two straight games. This matchup is a little less ideal than the Kings and Hawks, but Towns is proving himself to be a great option night in and night out.
Tier Two:

I was expecting Paul George to be in tier one, so he stands out as the top option for me from tier two. In a matchup earlier this year George scored 53.75 Draftkings points against the Sixers. He’s just playing at an MVP type level right now. Nikola Vucevic is my second option from this tier, he has gone over 50 fantasy points in his last three games and in his only matchup with the Warriors this season dropped 57.5 Draftkings points. I don’t have a strong opinion on Durant and Curry, they’re both very solid plays but picking which one will go off on any given night is nearly impossible.
Tier Three:

This tier is very interesting to me because we have Joel Embiid out who will impact Ben Simmons and potentially Ricky Rubio out who will impact Donovan Mitchell. If Rubio is out tonight, Mitchell becomes an elite play. With Rubio off the court this season Mitchell sees an elite usage rate of 39.7% and averages 1.3 fantasy points per minute. With Embiid off the court this season, Simmons is seeing 24.4% and 1.17 fantasy points per minute. Depending on the Rubio news it comes down to those two for me. Rudy Gobert draws a very tough matchup against Nikola Jokic, so I’m fine avoiding him. Chris Paul and DeMarcus Cousins both make for fine GPP options.
If you’re looking to create multiple lineups using your player pool, head on over to the Domination Station. This link will give you a quick tutorial on how to use the optimizer. The Domination Station is a great way to incorporate our projections with your own player pool to produce ideal lineups to help you play like an expert.
Tier Four:

Hassan Whiteside has been ruled out already for tonight’s game so don’t play him in this tier. Tobias Harris and Jimmy Butler will both be affected by Joel Embiid being out. Here is how those two shake out with Embiid off the court this season…
- Jimmy Butler – 25% usage rate; 1 fantasy point per minute
- Tobias Harris – 24.1% usage rate; 1.3 fantasy points per minute
Of the two, I prefer Jimmy Butler as he has the higher upside and the better matchup. Clint Capela sees a matchup boost with Hassan Whiteside off the court and is coming off a 50 point fantasy game, he makes for a solid option. Kevin Love’s minutes have slowly gotten increased and could get to near 30 minutes here. The Knicks rank 18th in defense against opposing power forwards and Love is scoring 1.4 fantasy points per minute on the season. Klay Thompson makes for a good GPP play as well.
Tier Five:

This tier is a bit ugly, but it’s headlined by the big men. Mitchell Robinson and Steven Adams are the best plays here. DeAndre Jordan will be out again for tonight’s matchup which means Mitchell Robinson should again see around 30 minutes. Robinson has been unstoppable over the past two games, scoring 45+ in each of them. He is racking up blocks like they’re going out of style, he’ll look for that to continue in this matchup. Steven Adams should be able to do whatever he wants tonight against the depleted 76ers front-court. Some GPP options I don’t mind from this tier include Jamal Murray and Dennis Smith Jr, but DSJ is extremely risky given the pace down matchup and the inconsistency of that rotation.

Tier Six:

With this tier, I think we can start by crossing a few guys off first. Jonathon Isaac, Kenneth Faried, and Larry Nance are all off of my board given their matchups and situations. Myles Turner is my favorite play here. He is averaging 1.12 fantasy points per minute on the season and the without Domantas Sabonis available he may get an extra couple of minutes. Draymond Green will look to bounce back after having an awful fantasy night last night and gets a good matchup against the Magic. Evan Fournier should be able to get up a ton of shots given the matchup, he’s got a solid floor for cash games and the same can be said for Darren Collison.
