DFS Madness's Draftkings NBA Tiers - Feb. 25th, 2019

Welcome to the DFS Army Draftkings Tiers breakdown! The Tiers breakdown will consist of a breakdown of all six tiers on Draftkings and why you should or shouldn’t play some of these guys! My name is Michael aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the article and just because I like to think I’m a great Twitter follow (high hopes). But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!

Tier One:

As long as James Harden is active tonight, he is my favorite play in this tier. He draws an up pace matchup with the Hawks and I’ve been targeting the Hawks all season, they are a fantasy gold mine. The Domination Station shows that Harden is currently projected for the most points of this tier at 63.823. My second option in this tier is Karl-Anthony Towns who is now probable after being out with a concussion. I’m not a huge LeBron fan here, as he has the highest pace down matchup on the slate against the Memphis Grizzlies.

If you’re looking to create multiple lineups using your player pool, head on over to the Domination Station. This link will give you a quick tutorial on how to use the optimizer. The Domination Station is a great way to incorporate our projections with your own player pool to produce ideal lineups to help you play like an expert!

Tier Two:

Tier two is highlighted by four guards, all in pretty good spots. If you read my game break article, you’ll know who my favorite play is from this tier.  Yesterday I wanted to attack the Knicks point guards because of the Spurs matchup and today I want to do the same. The Spurs rank dead last in defense against opposing point guards, they will have all the trouble in the world with D’Angelo Russell tonight. My second option here would be Devin Booker, many people don’t realize that the Heat actually ranks 26th in defense against opposing shooting guards on the season. James Harden is returning for the Rockets tonight, otherwise, Chris Paul would be my favorite option. But, Harden commands a lot of usage, taking a lot away from CP3.

Tier Three:

Ben Simmons stands out as an elite option in this range. Joel Embiid has been ruled out for tonight, meaning that the whole team will see an increase in usage. With Embiid off the court, Ben Simmons sees a usage rate of 28.2% and averages around 1.2 fantasy points per minute. Not only that, but he is in the highest projected total on the slate. My second option here would be Lauri Markkanen or Julius Randle. Markkanen won’t have to deal with any Giannis defense tonight, as he has been ruled out. Julius Randle is also in the high tempo game against the 76ers, he had a nice game last time out and I’ll look for him to continue that.

Tier Four:

This tier is a little uglier than the others, but I think going back to that Philly situation would be smart. With Joel Embiid off the court, this season Jimmy Butler sees a usage rate of 25.3% and averages about 1.2 fantasy points per minute. Other options here are LaMarcus Aldridge and De’Aaron Fox. The Nets rank 26th in opposing defense against opposing power forwards and Aldridge shouldn’t have a problem doing what he wants. As for Fox, he is in a high projected total against the Timberwolves and has an elite ceiling.

Tier Five:

The Philly situation is yet again one we can attack here. With Embiid off the court this season, Tobias Harris has a usage rate of 21.8% and averages 0.94 fantasy points per minute. If playing that many 76ers worries you, there are other options in this tier. Marvin Bagley has scored 45+ in three of his last four games and draws a weak defensive team in the Timberwolves. Lou Williams is also in play, he’s an elite fantasy point per minute guy scoring close to 1.3 per minute. He also leads the team in usage at 32.6%. Finally, Hassan Whiteside is the gpp option of this tier. He draws an elite matchup against the Suns, the only problem is his inconsistent minutes. If he can get 30+ minutes here he should be a monster.

Tier Six:

So…. this tier is loaded. Giannis has been ruled out tonight meaning Eric Bledsoe and Khris Middleton will see a bump in production. Here is how they shake out with Giannis off the court this season…

  • Khris Middleton – 31.2% usage rate; 1.3 fpm
  • Eric Bledsoe – 28.2 % usage rate; 1.6 fpm

If Giannis wasn’t already ruled out, Jonas Valanciunas might be my favorite player from this tier. He should have no problem destroying the Lakers front-court and has been an elite fantasy point per minute guy throughout his career. On the season he is averaging 1.4 fantasy points per minute and the Grizzlies have shown they’ll actually give him minutes, unlike the Raptors. Andrew Wiggins is playing great right now, we need to take it with a grain of salt due to the Towns injury, however. He’s gone for 35+ in four straight games and is playing all the minutes he can handle. The Kings rank 25th in the league against opposing small forwards.
