Friedman's Dirty Dozen - NBA DFS Plays for Jan 28 DraftKings Tips and Advice

Hi there! I’m Aaron/AFriedman15 (@AFriedman15DFS)  and this is my first week of Friedman’s Dirty Dozen, where I will include 12ish of my favorite plays, using information from the DFS Army NBA Research Station (RS),  NBA WOWY, and other sources.  Some days, when there is a smaller slate, there will be fewer picks.  I will generally list them in order of personal preference. My research is focused around DK and the DK Research station, so keep that in mind. Players may be viable to varying degrees at the other sites as well. I will generally try to write Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Weekends, but I may have some spare time on other days as well.  On the days I write, you can generally find me in #cash-keg-nfl-cfb-nba

Al Horford: With several of the studs not in optimum spots (Kyrie had only broken 50 DKFP vs. Brooklyn in 22 career games, and Jokic has a tough matchup in Memphis), tonight I will be living in the mid-range. Al Horford is one of the hottest players on the slate with  a top-10 in “Who’s Hot?, top-10 value ranking, top-10 And1 rating. His price increased by $700 to $6,400, but I am still very comfortable paying for Horford against Brooklyn. Even more so now that Kyrie has been ruled out of tonight’s game.

What To Expect Today — CeeGee’s 1st Look!

Terry Rozier: All aboard chalk Terry Rozier day. The tools were all based on Kyrie, playing, so I do not have anything nice to show you, but Rozier is now an all-format play with Kyrie Irving out.  Especially on FD, he is a no brainer.

Tobias Harris: Harris’ priced dropped by $500 somehow despite now facing a very good matchup –in fact, the best pace up matchup of the night– versus the Atlanta Hawks. As coach DFSnDonuts outlines in his piece, Harris has one of the best matchups on the slate, ranking #3 in our And1 rating system.

Lou Williams: Right below, Harris on the And1 rating is Lou Williams. With Gallinari doubtful again tonight, Sweet Lou’s scoring will be needed again. The Clippers sit at -6.5 favorites, with a O/U over 231.5 and Lou has been one of the hottest players of late.

John Collins: With the huge O/U, you will need a piece of the Atlanta side too. Collins has huge upside against the Clippers front court, and while he is certainly not cheap, he actually hit 5x at a higher rate than Jokic and Irving. Collins has solidified himself as a building block of the Hawks, and has played some of his best basketball of late.

Trae Young: I have not rostered Trae Young a ton, if at all, this year, but I want to be overweight on this game and Trae sits as a top-5 pick in our And1 rating system and torched the Clippers for 53 DK. I don’t think he’ll hit quite that level, but today is a day that I want to chase his upside.

For those who don’t know, golf season has begun, and our DFS Army staff is top notch. Shoutout to maxi1_000_000 for this excellent win!

Pat Beverley: PatBev is my favorite play under $4,500, as he has picked up a lot of minutes –and made the most of them– with Gallinari out of the lineup. This is largely a DK article, but Rozier and Beverley are my favorite PG pairing on FD. Beverley rates as a top value play and should see no less than 35 mins.

Trey Burke: With Frank Ntilikina out tonight, the other “Trae” rates as the likely chalk value play on today’s slate. Burke was subject to a slight $300 increase from yesterday, but he is significantly a preferred option to Allonzo Trier. We have seen Burke take advantage of available usage throughout his career, so I was far from suprised to see him as the RS’ top value of the day.

Jarrett Allen: On the other side of Horford’s matchup, we find Jarrett Allen, whose price dropped after a dud of a game, and the game log hunters will run away from Allen and decide to fade him against the Celtics. In reality. Boston has struggled vs. centers for large parts of the season. Allen has made big strides as a rebounder in his second season, and generally flirts with a double-double in most games. I like his price a lot here ($5,500) and the perception of Boston’s defense, which is greater than the current realities.

Darren Collison: No one has ever been excited to roster Darren Collison, but while people chase Tyreke Evans (guilty of it myself on Friday), Collison is clearly the leader of the offense without Oladipo. His price is getting up there on both sites, but like Horford, I feel very comfortable about having Collison in my player pool.

Aaron Holiday: Collison’s young mentee Aaron Holiday was in my Friday “Dirty Dozen” and he didn’t put on a bad show by any stretch. I was definitely surprised to see him take 11 shots. He only made 3 of the shots. If Holiday blew up, we would be looking at him as a chalk play tonight, but I still like him a lot and the idea of getting ahead of the curve.

Montrezl Harrell: Harrell went off for 59.7 FP during the first meeting of the series. On this short slate, I don’t mind chasing the upside again. On FD, he will be in most of my builds.
