Hi there! I’m Glen but I go by Blande and you can find me on twitter as @DfsBlande. I’m a contributor and coach over here at the DFS Army.
We have a nice 5-game slate tonight, headlined by the guys from Oakland and the Joker himself. Early news has already robbed us of a stud while opening interesting value. This is going to be one of those slates where picking the right value plays to allow for fitting in studs becomes very important. Today we’ll take a look at some of the top bench plays on the slate. They are not necessarily value, but they are interesting core and GPP plays to look at based on game theory.
We had some nice performances yesterday, headlined by this impressive 2nd place finish by JokerWins

CORE PLAYS
PG – Shabazz Napier (4900/4600): Napier is locked into 25-30 minutes a night off the bench for the Nets with Dinwiddie out. Given these minutes and his talent and production, he is underpriced on both sites. The matchup against the Celtics is not an easy one, but Napier’s price makes him playable in it all the same. It won’t take much for him to hit value here. He is a core play tonight.
SG – Lou Williams (7100/7400): Sweet Lou continues to dominate off the bench, and with Gallo out, he continues to be relied on heavily for scoring by the Clippers. He gets a fantastic matchup against the Hawks tonight, making him an excellent all-format play on both sites.
SF – Taurean Prince (5300/5400): Over his last 3 games, Prince has received 25, 28, and 35 minutes respectively. Part of the reason for the increase was out of necessity with Huerter injured, but the major reason is that Prince is healthy and getting into game shape. He has a monster ceiling when he is fully healthy and playing good minutes. In a matchup against the Clippers and playing around 30 minutes, Prince has the upside to crush value.
PF – Montrezl Harrell (7000/7100): Harrell is a center who is still listed as a PF on FD. He is averaging 29 MPG over his last 5 games and gets a juicy matchup against the Hawks here tonight. The last time they face each other, Gallinari was out as he is tonight, and Harrell broke out for 59.7 FDPs. Harrell has been in a slump recently, but he partially climbed out last time out. Look for him to continue to increase his production and fully break out from the slump in this game.
GPP PLAYS
PG – Tony Parker (3700/3600): Tony Parker is you ultimate GPP drop score candidate tonight. He’ll be virtually unowned due to the value that just opened at PG. On the season, he performs better at home than on the road, and with Kemba dealing with a neck injury, Parker could find himself getting some extra run here. Parker’s floor is extremely low, so this is a GPP only play as a drop-score candidate on FD or a low unowned MME play.
SG – Monte Morris (4100/4600): With Jamal Murray ruled out, Monte Morris will pick up some minutes for the Nuggets. Last game he played 27 minutes with Murray out. He is in line for a similar amount of work tonight. While the matchup against the Grizzlies on the road is not the best, he is cheap enough on FD and has the upside to make for a good GPP target.
PF – Ed Davis (4300/4000): Davis has shown a lot of upside off the bench for the Nets. In his last game, he went for 43.7 FDPs in 28 minutes off the bench. He might be called on today to handle a similar workload if Joe Harris is out. Also, he could see even more minutes if Al Horford completely dominates Jarrett Allen necessitating a switch in the gameplan. As you’ll notice, there are a lot of things that have to go right for Davis to be an excellent play here, so he is clearly a GPP only target. And much preferable on FD as a drop-score candidate.
C – Alex Len (4200/4300): The Clippers allow 9% more FPs to centers than the league average. That said, Alex Len is a truly speculative play here, one based on the fact that he has a GPP-winning ceiling at a very cheap price. This play is only suited for those MMEing tonight. The matchup is fantastic, but his minutes are inconsistent. If he gets minutes tonight, he could crush in this spot.
Those are your Sixth men for today. Good luck out there today Army!
