DFS NBA Lineup Strategies - Blande's 6th Man - Draftkings and Fanduel Advice Jan 23rd

Hi there! I’m Glen but I go by Blande and you can find me on twitter as @DfsBlande. I’m a contributor and coach over here at the DFS Army.

We have a massive 10-game slate on our hands tonight, with a lot of injury news to navigate. Luckily enough, the injury news is out early, so we can identify key value plays. Some of this value is off the bench tonight, so let’s do our due diligence and take a look at them.

Shoutout to Goforit for this lovely placement over the weekend!

For those who don’t know, golf season has begun, and our DFS Army staff is top notch. Shoutout to maxi1_000_000 for this excellent win!

CORE PLAYS

PG – Jeremy Lin (4600/4200): Jeremy Lin is in line for 25-30 minutes off the bench tonight with Huerter doubtful. Lin has struggled a little recently, but the minutes and usage boost he gets tonight, in a good matchup against the Bulls is exactly what he needs to bounce back. He makes for a nice cheap play today if looking to pay down.

SG – Dwayne Wade (4900/4800): The Heat face the Clippers who struggle defensively. Wade is averaging 27.7 DKPs in 25.1 MPG over his last four games, and the last time these two faced each other, he went for 46.5 DKPs in just over 31 minutes. It’s a solid spot for Wade, making him an excellent core play on both sites.

SF – Nikola Mirotic (6700/7000): With Anthony Davis out, Mirotic will continue to see a usage and production boost off the bench, alongside an increase in minutes. Mirotic continues to be too cheap on FD as long as AD is out. He really should be priced over 7k there. We will continue to play him as long as this discrepancy remains. He’s a core play on FD and a GPP play on DK.

PF – Kenneth Faried (5000/4400): In his first game with the Rockets, Faried played 23 minutes, putting up 20 DKPs in a tough matchup against Embiid. Today he gets the much better matchup against the Knicks. This should be Faried’s welcoming party. He’ll absolutely feast on the Knicks here. Faried is a core play for me on both sites.

GPP PLAYS

PG – Shabazz Napier (4100/3900): I wrote up Napier last time out, expecting him to play 25-28 minutes and absolutely crush value. For some reason I still cannot understand, the Nets only gave him 11 minutes. He turned those into 22.2 FDPs. The Nets are a much better team when Napier is getting solid minutes, and they’ll have to realize that. He is too cheap for what he is capable of when he gets minutes. The issue is, we are not certain of his minutes tonight, relegating him to a GPP-only role. I love him as a drop score on FD, and I don’t mind using him on DK either.

SG – Jaylen Brown (4300/4300): With Kyrie and Horford out, Brown will see more minutes here off the bench. The matchup against the Cavs is exploitable, the only question is which Brown shows up tonight. The inconsistent one who can’t do anything in excellent positions or the one who can’t do anything wrong? Brown’s tendency to disappear in good spots makes him a GPP-only play tonight.

SF – Gordon Hayward (4900/5100): The only time I have interest in Hayward is when Kyrie is out. Some of his best games this season have come with Kyrie, not in the lineup. No Kyrie opens shots and usage for Hayward. Tonight, against the Cavs, he gets a very good matchup he can exploit. This will normally make him a core play, but one has to respect the fact that Hayward has struggled this season. He is GPP only on both sites.

PF – Bam Adebayo (5500/4600): I love Adebayo tonight, especially on DK where he is ridiculously cheap. Bam is averaging 25 MPG off the bench in his last 4 games. Today he gets the matchup against the Clippers who can’t defend against bigs. It’s an excellent spot for him to showcase his talent. The last time these two teams faced off against each other, Adebayo went for 34 DKPs in 29 minutes. This is the kind of production I want in GPPs at his price on DK. He is priced at value on FD limiting his appeal.

Those are your Sixth men for today. Good luck out there today Army!
