DabbingPuggle’s NFL DFS “Draw Plays” for Wild Card Weekend

Welcome everyone, to this weeks edition of Draw Plays!! I’m your host DabbingPuggle, bringing you this weeks insights on the best WR/CB match-ups. It’s been an outstanding year and as we enter the playoffs I want to take a moment to thank you all for your feedback and support this season. Draw Plays gets a bit of a format change for the rest of the season and I hope you enjoy. Just because the regular season is over, doesn’t mean that our DFS journey ever ends and here at DFSArmy we have content for EVERY.SINGLE.SPORT.

COLTS vs. TEXANS

The first game of the weekend also has the highest projected total of the 4 game slate at 48.5 points. Typically, we like to target the higher total games for fantasy purposes, but remember this game will be among the more popular owns from an ownership perspective with T.Y. Hilton and DeAndre Hopkins both garnering large ownership. Rightfully so as both receivers will get plenty of targets in this one and also have two of the top five matchups on the slate from an individual defensive perspective.
The cheaper tier is where things get a little messy, but for GPP builds can pay off. Keke Coutee is on track to play for the first time since week 12. He will be a popular pay down option at the WR position but will see Kenny Moore II in coverage who has been very good this season. With a lack of receiver depth for Houston I like to pivot to DeAndre Carter in this spot as he will be considerably less owned and should still see a large percentage of snaps with Demariyus Thomas out for the season.
For the Colts, Dontrelle Inman, Chester Rogers, and Zach Pascal all face difficult matchups in coverage against Jonathan Joseph and Kareem Jackson. Both defenders have been outstanding this season. It is anyones guess who or if one of the Colts trio of secondary receivers can break loose. Of the three, Inman has been the more reliable target as of late hauling in 9 of 11 targets for 123 yards and 2 touchdowns over the final two weeks of the regular season.

SEAHAWKS vs. COWBOYS

Despite the repertoire the Seattle defense has had, their corners have been exploitable at times and the best matchup of the weekend belongs to Amari Cooper facing Shaquill Griffin. The Seahawks corner has allowed multiple big plays this season, and Cooper is exactly the type of receiver who can feast in this spot on Saturday night. On the other side of the ball we have Tyler Lockett as my top Seahawks receiver who should see Chidobe Awuzie. This is the spot of the Cowboys stout defense that is most exploitable as Awuzie lacks recovery speed when beat vertically which is exactly the situation in which Lockett is most effective.
The Cowboys secondary receivers of Michael Gallup and Cole Beasley could pay off in tournaments. Gallup has been more consistent over the final four weeks of the season, but the breakout game has eluded him. He will see Tre Flowers in coverage who has been underwhelming this season, but won’t be overmatched here. Beasley has the tougher matchup of seeing Justin Coleman in the slot. Beasley has seen his targets increase in the second half of the year, but has his hands full here and is only worth shots in large field tournaments.
Just when we thought Doug Baldwin was past his injury woes for the year, his knee kept him from a full practice on Wednesday. He will be fine for Sundays game and definitely worth looks as he always seems to rise to the occasion in big moments. David Moore and Jaron Brown have both disappeared from the Seahawks game plan and neither receiver will be in play for me here.
The Byron Jones effect. Byron Jones has no interceptions this season, simply because nobody is dumb enough to throw at him. He has been outstanding and one of the best defensive backs in the league. Typically Jones does not shadow and I would be surprised to see the Cowboys defensive scheme change. The right side of the field is pretty much not in play for most offenses which once again highlights my interest in Lockett lining up against Awuzie on the other side.

CHARGERS vs. RAVENS

Keenan Allen has been my boy this year, and just because it’s the Ravens defense that doesn’t mean you go away from the girl you took to prom. You dance with her there and you have fun. Then you tweet about it, because it’s 2019 and that’s what we do so make sure you’re following me on Twitter @realdanryan

Seriously though, Allen has a nice matchup here against Brandon Carr who is a very good defender but very capable of being beat in the slot. Harken back to earlier this season when AJ Green torched him for 3 touchdowns. My top bird for the Ravens would seemingly be Willie Snead as he garners the most targets in this run first offense. Not so fast, he has to deal with Desmond King II who has proven himself to be one of the top nickels in football this season. I will instead focus on John Brown and his big play ability when targeting the Ravens passing game.

Remember what I said about dancing with the girl who you brought to the dance, well Mike Williams was a big part of the Chargers success and lived up to the hype after a lost rookie season. Marlon Humphrey is the left side corner for this Ravens team and while he is good, Williams has enough athleticism to come down with a few balls, which we can only hope will be in the red zone. Travis Benjamin would be my cheap GPP target on this team as he always seems to show up in unexpected places and one big play from him can win you a tournament, however it is still extremely risky.

We need to mix it up a bit with the Baltimore passing attack, or lack thereof. Michael Crabtree could be a nice target despite a tough matchup here. If the Chargers happen to get up early and need to throw, look for them to target Crabtree when the big play downfield with Brown is not there.

Don’t Forget to Check Our NBA Domination!

This scrolling screenshot is strictly last night’s (Jan 3) $100+ winners.  We aren’t just an NFL-only site, and many of our VIPs never played NBA before this year or last.  And, many returned this year strictly for our NFL/NBA domination.  Give it a shot.  You never know how much fun other DFS sports are unless you try.  We have the coaching to help beginners and experts alike in any sport.

EAGLES vs. BEARS

As the season wound down, we made it a point to attack an injured Eagles secondary. I’m not going away from that this week and love Allen Robinson. Robinson when healthy this year has been fantastic and he practiced in full this week. He has a nice plus matchup against Avonte Maddox and is a player I want shares of. Does Alshon get revenge against the Bears in a game that matters? I’m not sure, but I will be buying in here as Alshon and Nick Foles clearly have a strong connection. The issue here will be Prince Amukamara defense which is definitely above average. However, I told you all season long, in today’s NFL, good offense always beats good defense.
Secondary plays for the Bears are Taylor Gabriel and Anthony Miller. Both receiver draw similar matchups and while Miller has been struggling, he has also been banged up. He practiced in full this week and I expect to see him draw at least 3-4 targets. Gabriel has been consistent but not explosive, he has the capability to break one off against Rasul Douglas and this Eagles improved but still poor passing defense.
Fly Eagles Fly is the war cry for the fans that once threw snowballs at Santa. As much as that will live in lore, so may the legend of Nick Foles if he can lead them through a very difficult path to another championship. He will need help though, and he may have trouble finding it with Nelson Agholor. He draws the short straw of some Kyle Fuller coverage which is suffocating at times. It is one of if not the most difficult matchup for any receiver in the Wild Card round and I will have little or no exposure here despite his recent success.
