Welcome to the DFS Army NBA Free Squares article, where I will try to break down my favorite NBA Free Squares and Fanduel and Draftkings for Today’s NBA Slate.
So what is a Free Square exactly? In NBA DFS there will be situations that come up that will lead to bench players getting more minutes. Some may even enter the starting lineup. The low cost of these players will allow us to spend up across the rest of our lineups. Wich gives us the ability to lock in some high dollar studs.

My Favorite NBA Free Squares for Today – December 23rd
💥 De’Aron Fox SAC PG $8,200
Fox and the Kings get a great matchup tonight vs Anthony Davis and the Pelicans. This season the Pelicans have been playing at a 106 pace and have a defensive efficiency rating of 109. They also allow 8% more fantasy points to point guards than the league average. Fox has been great this season overall and over his last 5 he’s been as hot as anyone in the league. Over his last 5 games he’s played 34 minutes per game and averaged 44.8 fantasy points per game. He has scored over 43.3 fantasy points in 4 of his last 5 games. Only the coach can hold him down as his last “bad game” was the game vs Minnesota where he only played 6 minutes (go figure). Unless his coach randomly benches all the starters again tonight he should be in line for another 40+ fantasy point outing.
💥 Larry Nance Jr CLE PF $7,300
I know, I know, we’ve fallen for this trap before, but hear me out on this one. Larry Nance is FINALLY getting a ton of minutes with the tanking Cavaliers and he’s putting up monster numbers as a result. Over his last 5 games he has played 32 minutes per game and he has averaged 41.2 fantasy points per game. He has scored 39.4 or more fantasy points in 5 of his last 6 games. He has also played over 30 minutes in 5 of his last 6 games. The Bulls have a 108 defensive efficiency rating and allow 1% more fantasy points to power forwards than the league average. I expect Nance to keep getting over 30 minutes and I expect him to keep scoring over 30+ fantasy points per game.

💥 Buddy Heild SAC SG $6,900
This game vs the Kings and Pelicans is chalk full of fantastic DFS plays tonight. We mentioned Fox about and his backcourt mate Buddy Heild is in a similarly elite spot tonight. The Pelicans play at a 106 pace and have a 109 defensive efficiency rating (pace + bad defense = fantasy points). Against shooting guards the Pelicans allow 6% more fantasy points than the league average. Over his last 5 games Buddy Heild has played 37 minute and scored 38.5 fantasy points per game.
💥 Jordan Clarkson CLE SG $5,400
I think most people will flock to some of the other high scoring games tonight and forget about this Cavs vs Bulls game. Jordan Clarkson has been doing really well recently for the Cavs. Over his last 5 games he has averaged 33 minutes and averaged 32.1 fantasy points per game. He has scored over 29.5 fantasy points in 4 straight and I don’t expect that streak to end tonight. The Bulls play at a 102 pace and have a defensive efficiency rating of 108. They allow 6% more fantasy points to shooting guards than the league average. I’ll be loading up on Clarkson as a top value option on this slate.
