So what is a Free Square exactly? In NBA DFS there will be situations that come up that will lead to bench players getting more minutes. Some may even enter the starting lineup. The low cost of these players will allow us to spend up across the rest of our lineups. Wich gives us the ability to lock in some high dollar studs.

My Favorite NBA Free Squares for Today – December 22nd
💥 Pascal Siakam TOR PF $$7,200
We’re not getting a discount on Siakam anymore as he’s now priced at $7,200 on Fanduel. Tonight the Raptors will be without Serge Ibaka and Kawi Leonard. Jonas Valenciunas is still out and Kyle Lowry is also questionable along with Danny Green. With all of these players out (assuming Lowry and Green are out) Siakam has a 43% usage rate. The Sixers allow 8% more fantasy points to power forwards in the league. Last night vs the Cavs Siakam played 37 minutes and scored 36.5 fantasy points. The previous game vs the Pacers he played 34 minutes and scored 41.4 fantasy points. I’m expecting more of the same tonight and despite the higher price tag I’ll be heavily exposed to him tonight in all formats.
💥 Trevor Ariza WAS SF $6,000
Otto Porter is OUT tonight for the Wizards so Trevor Ariza will likely enter the starting lineup. He’s played 2 games so far with the Wizards since being traded acquired from the Suns. In those 2 games he has played 38 and 36 minutes and scored 51.6 and 35.7 fantasy points. Tonight his new Wizards team takes on his old Suns team in a game that has the hieghts total on the slate at 228. The Suns have a 110 defensive efficiency rating (100 is league average). I don’t expect them to have many Defensive answers for this Wizards team tonight and Ariza is one of my favorite mid tier priced targets this evening.

💥 James Harden HOU SG $12,200
Harden is not “free” at all tonight and In fact he’s the most expensive player on the slate. The Rockets will be without Chris Paul tonight and for a few weeks. With Chris Paul off the Floor James Harden has a 43.8% usage rate and averages 1.72 fantasy points per minute. Harden has scored over 60 fantasy points in 4 of his last 5 games and he’s gone over 70 fantasy points in 2 of those games. He’s played over 40 minutes in 3 of his last 5 and he seems like he’s decided to simply take over and try and drag this team to the playoffs this year. Tonight he gets a matchup with teh Spurs who have a team defensive efficiency rating of 108. While he has a tough one on one matchup vs DeMar Derozan I’m not going to let that scare me away tonight. I’ll be starting my cash lineups with Harden tonight.
💥 Fre VanVleet $5,800 and OG Anunoby $3,700
These will be 2 of the most popular plays tonight with all the injury issues in Toronto. VanVleet has played 33 minutes and averaged 31.7 fantasy points per game over his last 5 games. Anunoby has played 21 minutes and averaged 19.3 fantasy points over his last 5 games. The matchup vs the Sixers is a solid one as they play at a 104 pace and have a 106 defensive efficiency rating, remember fast pace + bad defense = fantasy points. They will both be apart of my core builds tonight
Note – Kyle Lowry and Danny Green were upgraded to “questionable” tonight. With that being said if Lowry and Green both play I will be less interested in Anunoby. I will still have a high interest in VanVleet regadless. However Anunoby will be a solid drop score candidate on Fanduel priced at $3,700 regardless of the situation tonight.
