Flynnie's Forecheck - NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings 12/4

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 12/4/18

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 10% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack up the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 10-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men and goalies in order of my preference.

FORWARDS

COL 1 – MacKinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog – Shocking, I know. These are Colorado’s only source of offense this season. Rantanen and MacKinnon are in the top 3 players in points scored over the last three weeks and to top it off Pittsburgh has been giving up the 4th most goals over the last three weeks.

VGK 2 – Pacioretty, Tuch, Eakin – These guys have scored nine goals over the last 10 games and four goals in the last three. Pacioretty has been hot lately and Tuch has been very consistent. I would only use Eakin if stacking the whole line, but he has shown a ceiling lately too.

TOR 1 – Tavares, Marner, Hyman – Even with Matthews back these three are still rolling. They have three goals in the last three and nine in the last ten. Buffalo has been winning a lot lately and limiting goals. However they allow a ton of shots and that raises the floor for the studs including Matthews and Rielly.

Honorable Mention: WPG 1, PIT 1, WSH 1, CBJ 1 (scorching hot line, but CGY plays terrific defense), VAN 1, MIN 1, FLA 1, TB 2, OTT 1

DEFENSE

Dumba -Until he cools off he will be written up virtually every time he’s on the slate. His price is creeping up, but still offers a fantastic floor and he is involved in a lot of scoring on a team that is projected to score over three goals tonight.

Weber – Shea Weber is back and better than ever. He is scorching hot since coming back from injury and MTL has the highest ITT tonight.

Carlson – He is the highest priced defenseman on the slate for good reason, he has scored less than 10 FD points once in the last eight games.

Honorable Mentions: Chabot, Rielly, Gardiner, Yandle, Jones, Edler, Petry, Giordano

Our long-time VIP Joker Wins took down a GPP and had two other top-10 finishes

GOALIES

Hill – In my opinion he is the top goalie on the slate tonight. He only has two starts in the last three weeks but has also come in in relief twice leaving him with a 3-0-0/0.39/0.984 stat line. The Kings cannot score, they are middle of the road in shots on goals and Arizona plays solid defense. To top it off, he is our top projected goalie.

Fleury – 7-2-0/1.88/0.938 over the last three weeks. MAF will face a tough test facing the #2 scoring team over the last three weeks. He has a solid floor with the projected win, but I don’t think he has the ceiling because the Capitals don’t shoot the puck a ton – they just score a lot when they do.

Andersen – 6-2-0/2.64/0.929 I really like his chances tonight facing Buffalo but his $9300 price tag is going to keep him to GPP only for me

Honorable Mention: Halak, Bobrovsky, Dubnyk, Varlamov

GOAL PREDICTION: Mikko Rantanen
