DFS NBA Lineup Strategies - Blande's 6th Man - Draftkings and Fanduel Advice Dec 31st

Hi there! I’m Glen but I go by Blande and you can find me on twitter as @DfsBlande . I’m a contributor and coach over here at the DFS Army.

It’s the last day of 2018! We’ve got one last chance to hit it big in DFS NBA 2018. Although to be honest, we’ll hope the winning gets credited in 2019, so we can avoid having to pay the Tax Man in 2019.

Back to the slate on hand, we have a 5-game slate here. There’s nothing great about this slate. It’s a tough one to read, and the uncertainties and injury news coming out are not making it any easier. On the 6th Man front, this slate is devoid of options. There’s basically only one 6th man play at the moment that can be rostered in cash games with any degree of confidence. This is a night to focus on GPPs and play light. All, that said, we have some interesting 6th Men who could help take down a GPP for someone today. Let’s dive in!

Yesterday was a great one for NFL with a bunch of amazing wins! Don’t forget to check it out for Playoffs

MAIN SLATE 6TH MEN

JJ Barea – PG: DAL – (4600/4600): This is the only cash viable 6th Man play tonight. These two teams played last night, and while Barea started off hot, scoring 18.25 DKPs in the first half, he quickly went cold in the 2nd half. You can look to him to try to play a complete game this time around. His scoring and passing ability are much needed by this Mavericks team tonight. He’s viable in all formats here.

Josh Okogie – SG: MIN – (4300/3800): Everyone will rush to Tyus Jones once more tonight, but his fantasy points last night was inflated by the 5 steals he had. While everyone rushes to lock him up at that price, I’ll look instead to Josh Okogie who had himself a nice game and was trusted down the stretch. Okogie gets a nice matchup here and makes for a good GPP option at lower ownership.

Richaun Holmes – PF: PHO – (3900/3400): Holmes is interesting tonight. This is a game that screams blowout, even with Devin Booker listed as available. If we get a blowout, Holmes will get a lot of run in the 4th quarter, pushing up his minutes. 25 minutes is all Holmes needs tonight to crush value. He is a strictly GPP play on both sites, and an excellent drop-score format play on FD.

Our own Burns273 took 6th place in the Milly Maker! So Close!

Kelly Oubre Jr. – SF: PHO – (4200/4300): No one wants to play Kelly Oubre and for good reason. He is a walking disappointment to fantasy owners. However, this is the kind of spot he can excel in. In a blowout, Oubre will be given free rein to do his thing in garbage time. For someone who will be in the single digits ownership, he has the upside to end up in a GPP winning lineup. He’s a GPP target.

Terry Rozier – PG: BOS – (3900/3600): Another interesting GPP option on the slate is Rozier. He had a stretch of 5-6 games where he was magnificent, then suddenly, he went cold. Yes, he is getting fewer minutes with Kyrie playing at an MVP level, but still. Rozier gets a chance here against the Spurs to regain his footing. I’m not expecting anything crazy from him here, but he should at least make value here. Strictly a GPP salary saving play here.

Jordan Bell – C: GS – (3500/3000): Jordan Bell will only get enough run to pay off his min-price tag if this game is a blowout. That’s the only scenario in which Bell is even viable. Only play him if MMEing, in a lineup or two in anticipation of such an event. This is a 1-2 in 20 lineups kind of play. Don’t get crazy here.

Let’s not forget SILVAJ who pocketed a cool 10k on the Afternoon slate! Congrats!

That’s it for today! Good luck out there Army! And let’s close out 2018 with a BANG!
