DFS NBA Lineup Strategies - Blande's 6th Man - Draftkings and Fanduel Advice Dec 23rd

Hi there! I’m Glen but I go by Blande and you can find me on twitter as @DfsBlande . I’m a contributor and coach over here at the DFS Army.

With nine games on the main slate tonight and a bunch of studs in good positions, we need some really nice value to afford them today. That’s what the 6th Man brings for us, so let’s jump into the matchups and see what pops out. Remember, this is a Sunday and it brings out the NBA crazies. Be careful out there and protect your bankroll.

CORE PLAYS

Montrezl Harrell (6800/6100): Harrell is back in form, averaging 33.8 FDPs in just under 25 MPG in his last four. Today he gets an excellent matchup against the warriors, in a game which should be competitive. I love the outlook here for him, and he is a core play in all formats on both sites.

Jordan Clarkson (5400/5900): Rodney Hood is out, David Nwaba is doubtful, the Cavs will need Clarkson to play a ton of minutes and score points for them. Clarkson is already averaging 32 MPG in his last five, and you can expect him to see north of that today. He is too cheap for his minutes, usage, and productive. Love him in all formats, especially on FD.

Bogdan Bogdanovic (6000/5000): Bogdanovic is an interesting case here. He is priced cheap enough that he is viable, and he has a nice floor and ceiling. That said, he has not tested his ceiling yet this season, and while this is the perfect matchup for him to do it, there are certainly questions there. He is a good cash/hybrid play, and I won’t mind taking a shot or two with him in GPPs. He’s priced well on both sites too.

Lou Williams (5200/6400): Just look at the price discrepancy here. DK with the more dynamic scoring has priced Lou Williams up, but FD is lagging behind and still have him at 5.2k in a spot he has smashed in. Lou Williams is too cheap on FD to pass on. His upside here is tremendous. Just take a look at this graphic of Lou’s last 4 games vs the Warriors, courtesy of Statsmuse. Just go ahead and play him on FD. I won’t be touching him on DK though.

GPP PLAYS

Rajon Rondo (4900/4800): Rondo returned in style, and immediately evaporated Ball’s usage. Rondo is cheap on both sites and his ball handling skills make him valuable in this matchup today. He is not cash safe in this Lakers lineup, but he definitely has the upside at that price to help you win a GPP.

Kelly Olynyk (5400/4600): Olynyk continues to do good work off the bench for the Heat. He has been a little disappointing recently, but there’s nothing like a matchup against the Magic at PF to get him out of the mini-slump. He makes for an excellent GPP play here who could grab some rebounds as Vucevic and Whiteside battle down low.

Terry Rozier (4000/3900): No one is going to look twice at Rozier on this slate. What with almost everyone back for the Celtics. The last time they met up, with everyone healthy, Rozier got 23 minutes off the bench. He could see the same number of minutes here tonight, and that’s all Rozier needs to crush value on any given night. We have seen Rozier go for 40 in 25 minutes before. This is the kind of GPP winning leverage we look for. This play is a risky one, so do not do it in cash/hybrid or single GPP lineups. It is a 1 in 10 lineups kind of play. Better yet, Rozier makes for an excellent pivot off Tyus Jones of FD today, as a drop score option.

Wayne Selden (3500/3200): If Rozier is a 1 in 10 play, Selden is a 1 in 50 play. Only use in MME on DK. On FD, Selden makes for an excellent drop score candidate play at min-price. Selden crushed value last time he faced the Lakers. It is not likely he does something similar again, but the Lakers have been susceptible to a value play off the bench this season. Just look at what Dudley and Patty Mills did to them. Why not take a shot at Selden again? As a GPP play or drop score candidate, this is the kind of play we are looking for.

Those are your Sixth Men for today. I’ll have notes covering the entire slate later on. Good luck out there tonight! And join me in my new channel #blande-nba-wnba.
