Hello folks and welcome to my NHL Positional Breakdown for Fanduel!
For those of you who are new to the DFS Army, new to NHL DFS, or just like to read different articles, my name is Matt Dell’Agnese and I’m an MLB and NHL coach and writer for the DFS Army. Hit me for a follow on twitter at mdellagnese14. If you are a DFS Army VIP member you will know that I’m fairly active in our NHL rooms and around to help coach for the amazing sport of Hockey. I was brought to the DFS Army in January and I wrote Painting the Black for baseball, analyzing pitching picks for the slates. If you’ve played MLB, NHL is very similar. The sports are both volatile and players can put up a 0 or low score at any time. Don’t get discouraged if you get cold, just keep with your process and the players will come around. For cash games, you want to correlate players who skate on the same line or same Power play line, in GPPs stack up the full lines. Thankfully, Chop has asked me to help out with our NHL content articles!
Check out Flynn’s article that describes how we start our process of creating lineups – Beginning NHL Strategy.

I will be breaking down each position with the players who I like with my reasonings for liking them on the slate! I am a Fanduel player, so these articles will include Fanduel pricing and scoring references! Remember to always check for confirmation of goalies and lines! Let’s dive into this big Wednesday Slate!

Goalies
Louis Domingue (8.6k): Here’s your chalk goalie tonight. Domingue has been wonderful since filling in for Vasil though. The matchup with the Ducks is also great as they only are scoring 1.8 goals/game over their last 10 games. The big issue I have here is the volume against the Ducks since they do not shoot a ton. He does have 5 straight games with 30 or more saves and has scored at least 20 fanduel points in 5 of his last 6 games, topping 30 points twice.
Carter Hutton (7.9k): Hutton is our top goalie on the RS tonight, but I do have some concerns with the matchup against the Sharks. The Sabres are one of the hottest teams of late though and Hutton will be lower owned. He’s been great over his last to games going 7-2-1 allowing just 2.3 goals per game with a fanduel average of 21.8 points. I think I’ll keep him more towards tournaments though.
Marc-Andre Fleury (8.4k): The Knights have picked up their play of late, scoring 3.5 goals/game in their last 10 and are implied close to 3 goals tonight. The Blackhawks is a good matchup here for Fleury as they are not scoring a ton. Marc has been exceptional in his last few starts recording 2 shutouts against good offenses in the Sharks and Flames. He’s on the road, so I’ll temper my expectations, but I still really like him tonight.
Curtis McElhinney (7.5k): Large-field GPP play for me tonight. He’s looked amazing over his last 3 starts allowing just 4 goals on 101 shots. He should see good shot volume tonight from the Habs but they have been allowing under 3 goals per game. McElhinney has a solid 6-2 record this year allowing just 2.25 GA and has a .919 save %. He’s cheap and could end up seeing close to 35-40 shots tonight.
Jacob Markstrom (7.6k): Another GPP only goalie for me tonight. The matchup at home with the Kings is a great one for Mark though. He hasn’t been the best, with an SV% under .900, but the Kings are doing virtually nothing on offense of late. He could be a late night hammer guy who can get 20+ on fanduel tonight.
