Welcome to the DFS Army NBA Free Squares article where I will try to break down my favorite NBA Free Squares and Fanduel and Draftkings for Today’s NBA Slate.
So what is a Free Square exactly? In NBA DFS there will be situations that come up that will lead to bench players getting more minutes. Some may even enter the starting lineup. The increase in their minutes and role will give us someone we can plug into our lineups and expect them to reach or exceed value. The low cost of these players will allow us to spend up across the rest of our lineups. Wich gives us the ability to lock in some high dollar studs.

Schroder and Huerter were duds last night for us. Hopefully you were not heavily exposed to Schroder after you heard Russell Westbrook would be playing. At his price yesterday Schroder is just too expensive when Westbrook is on the court. The others did pretty well for us overall and we’ll look to build on that today with a small 4 game Tuesday slate.
My Favorite NBA Free Squares for Today – November 20th
💥 Montrezl Harrell LAC PF $7,500 / Tobias Harris LAC PF $8,200
I’m going right back to the well here tonight after last nights 59.7 fantasy point explosion from Harrell. We already know Danilo Gallinari is out tonight so that is going to give a big boost to Harrell and Tobias Harris. Last night Harris scored 41.80 fantasy points in 33 minutes vs the Hawks. Montrezl Harrell had a monster 59.70 fantasy point game scoring 25 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and recording 5 steals. With Gallinari off the floor this year, Tobias Harris averages +7.03 fp/36 minutes this year. Montrezl Harrell has a usage increase at +5.80 fp/36 min. I’ll be starting most of my roster builds with these two tonight.
💥 Miami Heat
Goran Dragic, Dwyane Wade and now Tyler Johnson are all out tonight for the Heat. This is going to lead to the Heat being very thin tonight in the backcourt and guys like Rodney Mcgruder, Justice Winslow, Wayne Ellington and Jason Richardson should all get significant bumps in usage and shot attempts. Dating back to last season, with Dragic, Johnson and Wade off the floor Hassan Whiteside averaged 1.52 fantasy points per minute and a 24.1% usage rate. Wayne Ellington saw his usage rate increase +5.1% to 22.6% and he averaged 0.80 fantasy points per minute. Justise Winslow sees a +3.5% increase and Josh Richardson sees a 2.7% increase. There will be plenty of value on this Heat roster tonight.
NOTE – Dwyane Wade will play tonight and I like him as an option as well. I don’t think him playing will downgrade the above mentioned players too much so they are all still viable for me tonight.

💥 Evan Turner POR SF $4,800
The Blazers will be without Moe Harkless tonight again so this allow Evan Turner to play close to 30 minutes tonight. In 5 of his last 6 games he has eclipsed the 27 minute mark. He’s averaging right around 0.90 fantasy points per minute while on the floor this year without Moe Harkless. Tonight the matchup vs the Knicks is a great one for Turner as they rank 24th in our adjusted DVP metric vs Small Forwards. Load up on Turner tonight as a solid value piece on a small slate.

💥 Trey Burke NYK PG $4,900
I want to preface this by saying Burke has a tough matchup tonight vs the Blazers who are ranked #1 in our adjusted DVP Metric vs Point Guards. That being said I still have some interest in him tonight as a solid value on a small 4 game slate.
Trey Burke tops the Who’s Hot chart today on the NBA Research Station. He’s averaging 12.96 more fantasy points over his last 3 games than he averaged in his previous 10 games. In those 3 games he has averaged 30.0 fantasy points returned an average value of 6.1x. You can also see that he’s near the top of the Clock Watch chart as well as he has averaged 5.69 more minutes per game over his last 3 vs his last 10 games. Fire up Trey Burke tonight for some solid value albeit in a tough matchup.
