Welcome to the DFS Army NBA Free Squares article where I will try to break down my favorite NBA Free Squares and Fanduel and Draftkings for Today’s NBA Slate.
So what is a Free Square exactly? In NBA DFS there will be situations that come up that will lead to bench players getting more minutes. Some may even enter the starting lineup. The increase in their minutes and role will give us someone we can plug into our lineups and expect them to reach or exceed value. The low cost of these players will allow us to spend up across the rest of our lineups. Wich gives us the ability to lock in some high dollar studs.

Rough day for the Free Squares yesterday. The studs Durant and Harden really let us down and the mid tier guys didn’t do much for us either. Lets shake that off and attack this nice 8 game Friday slate.
My Favorite NBA Free Squares for Today – November 16th
💥 Evan Turner – POR – SF – $4,500
With Seth Curry ruled out, that will lead to Evan Turner being asked to handle the 2nd unit for the Blazers. He’s been averaging between 27 and 31 minutes per game over his last 4 games and he’s scored 24 or more fantasy points in 3 of those games. Tonight he gets a great matchup vs the poor Defense of the T’Wolves who rank 26th in our Adjusted DVP Metric vs Small Forwards. He has paid off today’s salary at 5x value 56% of the time this year, and he’s reached 6x value 35% of the time. I’m expecting another 30 minutes and 25+ fantasy points out of him this evening.
💥 Enes Kanter – NYK – C – $6,000
Kanter is coming off the bench now for the Knicks and he’s not too happy about it. Despite that he’s averaging 27 minutesand 37.1 fantasy points per game over his last 5 games and he’s put up double doubles in 5 of his last 6 games. The bench role doesn’t worry me too much as he’s been putting up 1.25 fantasy points per minute this season. He can rack up points in bunches and he gets a solid Pace Up matchup tonight with the Pelicans.

💥 Giannis Antetokounmpo – MIL – SF – $11,500
Giannis and the Bucks get a matchup with the Bulls tonight who are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA this season. Against Small Forwards they rank 28th in our Adjusted DVP metric. Giannis is averaging 53 fanduel points per game this year and a ridiculous 1.62 fantasy points per minute. While this is a small pace down matchup for the Bucks I expect Giannis to absolutely FEAST tonight. I’m starting my lineups with him this evening and I’ll pivot up to Anthony Davis if i want to “pay up” to be contrarian tonight.
💥 Ersan “Ghostface” Ilyasova – MIL – PF – $4,000
The Bucks are in a prime spot tonight against the Bulls. As you saw above with my notes on Giannis, the Bulls are awful defensively vs nearly every position. Ersan Ilyasova is priced at only $4,000 today and should see some extra run with John Henson being ruled out. He’s been a solid role player for the Bucks this year, playing just under 23 minutes per game and averaging nearly 20 fantasy points per game. He’s paid off 5x value on today’s price 42% of the time this season and he’s reached 6x value 35% of the time. We currently have him projected to score just -0.68 fantasy points under 5x value today. Load him up for some solid value this evening.

💥 Rodney McGruder – MIA – SG – $4,600
Dwyane Wade is out again tonight for the Miami Heat. Consequently we’re going to give a boost to all the Miami Heat wing players. Rodney McGruder only priced at $4,600 tonight on Fanduel. The Heat have a league average defensive matchup tonight vs the Indiana Pacers. They rank 13th vs shooting guards in our Adjusted DVP metric. Priced of only $4,600 he should have plenty of opportunities to pay that off for us. So far this season McGruder has reached 5x value 56% of the time at this price while reaching 6x value 42% of the time. I think he’s got a solid floor with a good amount of upside for his price tonight.
