NBA Free Squares November 12th

Welcome to the DFS Army NBA Free Squares article where I will try to break down my favorite NBA Free Squares and Fanduel and Draftkings for Today’s NBA Slate.

So what is a Free Square exactly? In NBA DFS there will be situations that come up that will lead to bench players getting more minutes. Some may even enter the starting lineup. These players will often be priced as backups (their normal role). The increase in their minutes and role will give us someone we can plug into our lineups and expect them to reach or exceed value. The low cost of these players will allow us to spend up across the rest of our lineups. Wich gives us the ability to lock in some high dollar studs.

Free Square Results for yesterday – November 9th

Derrick Rose – 35.70 – 5.95x value
Tyler Johnson – 22.90 fp – 4.87x value
Buddy Hield – 29.50 fp – 3.98x value (draftkings)
Justise Winslow – 20.90 fp – 3.73x value
Juan Hernangomez – 4.40 fp – 1.12x value
Wayne Ellington – 10.40 fp – 2.73x value

Overall (Fanduel No Adams) – 123.80 fp – 3.73x value

Derrick Rose was the only player to reach 5x value on Friday. The top values on the slate were Stanley Johnson 11.15x value, Jeremy Lin 9.40x value and Joe Ingles 8.50x value. The Top overall fantasy point scorers were Nikola Jokic 69.70, Karl Anthony Towns 62.30 and Victor Oladipo 54.00. Lets start the week off on a good note, with a nice 9 game slate tonight.

My Favorite NBA Free Squares for Today – November 12th

💥 Quinn Cook – GSW – PG – $5,400

Steph Curry is out with a bad groin so Quinn Cook started for him on Saturday night vs the Brooklyn Nets. Cook scored 27 points, dished out 5 assists and grabbed 3 rebounds on his way to a 41.10 fantasy point game. Without Steph Curry, I still think he is a great mid level play in this Warriors Offense. He’s shown 40 point upside but will more realistically land between 26-32 most nights given the opportunity. To reach 5x value he needs 27 fantasy points and I expect him to be able to reach that and likely exceed it tonight vs the LA Clippers who allow 11% more fantasy points to point guards than the rest of the league. The one on one defense he’ll see from Pat Beverly is a bit worriesome but it’s not scary enough for me to fade him tonight.

💥 Dennis Schroder – OKC – SG – $7,200

He’s listed as a Shooting Guard on Fanduel but he’ll be running the show for this Thunder offense with Russell Westbrook out. Tonight he gets a dreamy matchup against the Phoenix Suns who allow 24% more fantasy points to point guards than the rest of the NBA. The Suns have a 112 defensive efficiency rating, which is the 2nd worst only behind the T’Wolves on todays slate. Schroder has been priced up in his new role as starting PG with Westbrook out, he’s now listed at $7,200 on Fanduel. That doesn’t really concern me although it does lower his ceiling a little at that price. He has averaged 32.20 fantasy points over his last 5 games

💥 Derrick Rose – MIN – PG – $6,900

He left the game in the 4th quarter the other day after gettting hit in the face by Karl Anthony Towns. Assuming he plays tonight I still love him in this spot. With Jimmy Butler on his way out and newly acquired Robert Covington and Dario Saric not expected to play until Wednesday the T’Wolves are very thin right now. Rose has been on fire of late, averaging 34.10 fantasy points over his last 3 games and playing just over 35 minutes per game. The Brooklyn Nets just got shredded by Warriors backup PG Quinn Cook and I expect more of that tonight from Rose. With Jeff Teague out Rose has the PG position on lock for the T’Wolves and I’m going to keep playing him until Teague returns or his price rises too high.

💥 Paul George – OKC – SF – $10,300

We should all know the routine by now. When Russelll Westbrook is out, play Paul George and Dennis Schroder as they both see usage numbers in the low to mid 30% range without Westbrook. Coming off a 45.60 fantasy point game against the Mavericks, George gets a nice matchup tonight vs the Suns who are god awful defensively. George has scored 45+ fantasy points in 3 of his last 4 games and I fully expect him to reach 45-55 tonight vs the Suns. He’s expensive sure, but he’s well worth it tonight.

💥 Kevin Durant – GSW – SF – $11,300

It feels dirty writing up two $10k+ players in a row, but the situations tonight call for it toinght. With Russell Westbrook out Paul George is an elite play. The same can be said for Kevin Durant without Steph Curry. With Steph Curry off the court Kevin Durant has a 36.7% usage rate and averages 1.46 fantasy points per minute. He’s coming off a 57.50 fantasy point game on Saturday night vs the Brooklyn Nets where he scored 28 points dished out 11 assists, grabbed 5 rebounds and had a usage rate of 32.79%. Look for more of the same tonight as the Warriors will lean on Durant heavily with Curry out.
