Flynnie's Forecheck - NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings 11/26

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 11/26/18

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 10% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack up the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 5-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men and goalies in order of my preference.

FORWARDS

NYR 1- Chytil, Kreider, Hayes – This stack is far and away my #1. They have three goals over the last three games together and Chytil still offers tremendous value and Kreider and Hayes are two of the hottest skaters on the planet right now.

FLA PP2 – New Jersey can’t stop anyone from scoring or shooting. Florida 1 is always in play. I love Barkov tonight but I think the best two man stack for FLA is Mike Hoffman and Frank Vatrano, they are on separate lines but correlate on the PP2.

TOR 1 – Hyman, Tavares, Marner – I love Tavares and Marner tonight, especially if Rask plays (right now Halak is probable). Hyman doesn’t offer much of a ceiling so I would prefer Rielly in that stack but that becomes very difficult to fit any other high priced players.

Honorable Mention: OTT 1, CBJ 1, DET 1 (or Athanasiou one-off), WSH 1, NJ 1, BOS 1, BOS 2

**Since this is VIP only tonight, I’ll give you my top plays at each position since NYR 1 is the only full stack I really like tonight**

DEFENSE

Chabot: He very well could be the best defensive play on the board tonight. Over the last ten games, he has the most BSSOG and most FD points of any defenseman on the slate. He has been remarkably consistent but will also be chalky. That is still chalk I’m willing to eat.

Carlson: He is more expensive but he is right behind Chabot in both categories in the last ten games. He is cash save and a great GPP play, being the most expensive defenseman on the night.

Jones: Similar floor to the other two but not quite the ceiling. He does offer powerplay access against a middle of the road PK in DET.

Honorable Mentions: Rielly, Pionk, Krug, Orlov, Ekblad, Niskanen, Green

Our long-time VIP Joker Wins took down a GPP and had two other top-10 finishes

GOALIES

Andersen: Freddy is the highest projected goalie and has a 5-2-0/2.16/0.940 stat line over the last three weeks. I generally don’t target goalies against the Bruins but they are no the same team with Bergeron out. Their defense is a mess and Toronto is starting to roll again. He is the most expensive goalie on the slate but I think he is worth paying up for.

Holtby: Man I hate writing this guy up. I thought I swore him off completely but I can’t argue with his numbers lately: 4-2-0/1.59/0.953. Holtby has only given up three goals in his last three games – including one shut out. His shutout was actually his lowest score on FD at 29.6 over that span. Our model doesn’t like him right now so I would reserve him for GPP.

Howard: Another one Vegas and our model don’t like. 6-1-1/1.77/0.946 over the last three weeks. Columbus is a very good team and this is definitely worthy of a hedge stack. He has been remarkably consistent, posting 15+ FD points for the last month and a half. His price is catching up, but he is still a few hundred cheaper than the other studs on the slate – he will go over looked in GPP’s, he always does.

Honorable Mention: Bobrovsky, Reimer, Lundqvist (GPP), Halak (if he plays)

GOAL PREDICTION: Matt Duchene

Remember guys, always confirm the starters after morning skate.
