We have a quick four game NHL DFS slate with a whole bunch of different ways to go. Find out if we should eat the Rinne chalk or stack against the CAR chalk

Flynnie's Forecheck - NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 11/12/18

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  If you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 10% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack up the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 4-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men and goalies in order of my preference.

FORWARDS

DAL 1 – Seguin, Benn, Radulov – Dear Stars coaching staff…stop breaking these three up for anything other than injury!!! All three play better together and they get a fun matchup with the Blue Jackets top line that has given up seven goals in the last ten and two goals over the last three. Radulov still has the IR tag next to his name, but by all accounts he is back in the lineup tonight.

NSH 1 – Johansen, Forsberg, Sissons – I struggled with this line after the Arvidsson injury news broke but I think they are still a very good line tonight and Sissons will probably be the highest owned skater on the slate if the masses are paying attention.

CAR 1 – Aho, Teravainen, Ferland – There is going to be a lot of scoring in this game, both teams shoot and neither team defends very well. This is the go to line for CAR but they spread out their scoring pretty well. I also like a the PP1 combo which gets you some value in Svechnikov in addition to these three studs.

Honorable Mention: CHI 2, VAN 2 (Pettersson line), NYR 1/PP1, CBJ 1

$50k wasn’t even our biggest win of the MLB season

DEFENSE

Pionk – He is checking all the boxes for me: shots, blocks, points, PP time, high scoring game. His price won’t go up so just play him until you can’t.

Seabrook – He has been one of the best defensemen in the league over the last 2-3 weeks and his price is still very affordable. I love the CHI stack if you’re not playing Darling.

Heiskanen – DAL should score a ton tonight and Heiskanen is taking on the John Klingberg role while he is out. His price has not adjusted yet, so take advantage while you can.

Honorable Mentions: Josi, Fowler, Faulk, Slavin, Jones, Hamilton, DeAngelo

GOALIES

Rinne – Pekka is the most expensive goalie on FD and #2 on DK and for good reason, Anaheim is terrible. Rinne is your guy in cash games tonight. He will be very high owned, for good reason. But I question his ceiling for GPP, ANA doesn’t shoot much and NSH doesn’t give up many shots. Rinne has slate breaking ability, but I think it takes a shutout for him tonight. He a better play on DK if you’re using him in tournaments or hybrids on that site.

Darling – This one makes me a little nauseous but he has been good and has the Vegas love. The money line is moving toward Carolina, whereas the line is moving toward Anaheim and away from Rinne. Only use stats like that as a tie breaker, it is not a be all end all. However, CHI shoots the puck a ton and cannot seem to score which raises his floor significantly. He will be a nice pivot off the Rinne chalk, but no one will be sneaky on a four game slate.

Khudobin – The Bruins cast off has been low key very good so far this season posting a 3-1-1 record with a 2.37 GAA and 0.927 save %. Columbus shoots a ton but they are also in the top 10 in scoring over the last ten games. I’m not expecting a shutout here but I think he picks up the win because CBJ or seems to pay attention to the offensive end of the rink.

Honorable Mentions: Ward (low floor, high ceiling and revenge narrative), Lundqvist, Gibson (late addition with the Arvidsson injury news), Bobrovsky (our highest projected goalie but I don’t like it in anything but a GPP)

GOAL PREDICTION: Tyler Seguin
