Welcome everyone, to this weeks edition of Draw Plays!! I’m your host DabbingPuggle, bringing you this weeks insights on the best WR/CB match-ups for your GPP’s. A quick note before we dive in. I like to have fun and make money; I plan on doing both things every Sunday for the next few months. If you like fun, jump in my room #puggle-nfl on Sunday morning 10-1. If you like making money, be sure to read all the articles our NFL staff has for you each week. If you don’t like either, take a hike. Get it? Hut Hut Hike… let’s do this Army!!
Tier 1 Draw Plays
Adam Thielen Vs. Nevin Lawson
Cooper Kupp Vs. P.J. Williams
Robert Woods Vs. Eli Apple
Michael Thomas Vs. Marcus Peters
Michael Thomas plays the football so good. I get giddy when talking about him because I feel like I get front row tickets to a show every time he takes the field. Well, his show Sunday has a lot of co-stars and even a villain with Marcus Peters. Make no mistake about it though, Thomas is still the headliner. I’d make him the number one play this week if I could, but the Saints are not getting him the ball as much as they should and he still accounts for 26% of the teams passing offense. He has not broken the 100 yard marker since week 3, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him have 200 in this game. It’s a bold call, but I do these things. A typical DFS stacking strategy is QB-WR-Opposing WR. If there was ever a prime spot for that strategy to be employed it’s this game right here. They go hand in hand like love and marriage, love and marriage…something about a horse and carriage? Thomas is going to have to be the horse for the Saints in this spot if they want to have a chance at knocking off an 8-0 Rams team.
Tier 2 Draw Plays
D.J. Moore Vs. Brent Grimes
D.J. Moore is quietly building steam and becoming more productive by the week. 4 targets in week 5 followed by 5 targets in weeks 6 and 7. Then came week 8, and he performed admirably hauling in 5/6 for 90 yards and adding 39 on the ground…. against the Ravens defense! That’s no small task and he rose to occasion. He’s earned some more targets and he should definitely get them with an implied team total of 30 facing the Buccaneers defense. He may not be “Matched Up With M.J.” but Grimes is no prize either. He boats a 76% opposing catch percentage and I really like the implied value I get here with Moore. I like big name receivers this week, I’ll need guys like Moore to be able to afford some of the studs who are seemingly all in good spots.
Mike Evans Vs. James Bradberry
Speaking of big name receivers how about Mike Evans when you sprinkle him with some FitzMagic? Through the first 3 weeks of the season Evans enjoyed 23 catches on 30 targets and delivered with 367 yards and 3 touchdowns. Well if that doesn’t make you a believer of this connection how about 3/3 for 111 yards and touchdown in the last 17 minutes of last weeks game against the Bengals? Still not convinced? How may touchdowns did he have with Jameis? ZERO. The two of those guys go together like lamb and tuna fish. But Fitz and Evans… Spaghetti and meatballs baby! Something there clicks and the only thing that stopped me from clicking on him first is James Bradberry who has been good this year, but 9/10 times the offensive player is going to come away smiling in today’s NFL.
Antonio Brown Vs. Jimmy Smith
Antonio Brown, welcome back my old friend. After a frustrating start, Brown is being Brown and it’s turning into green for those of you paying attention. In fact, a lot of green as Brown has found the end zone 5 times in his last 3 games and has 7 in his last 5. He hasn’t racked up a massive yardage game yet, but those will come. On the other side of the ball we have Jimmy Smith who is a legitimate top 15 corner in the league. He’s good. However, coming back from a 4 game suspension to start the year, he’s looked more like Jimmy Smits in some sort of horror role. Until he corrects it, he’s in play as a place to attack. I’m not the only person who thinks so. Opposing OC’s have hit him with a 23% opposing target rate and he’s rewarded them with a 73% opposing catch percentage. Now he get’s Antonio Brown on a mission? Hope he made some adjustments this week, but even so… the match-up may be too difficult for him to overcome.
CONTRARIAN PLAY ALERT
Keenan Allen Vs. Justin Coleman
Keenan Allen has disappeared off the map for DFS purposes. He hasn’t scored since week 1 and his targets are down. He’s been a major disappointment this season, and I’m going to start buying in GPP’s a lot. Allen is one of the more talented receivers in the league and any regression this season is only slight from his skill set. His match-up this week is definitely not good. Justin Coleman has been more than outstanding this season and a big part of the Seahawks success. They are probably the most underrated team in the league to date. Going back to Allen is not just risky, some would call me insane. However, the talent is there and the personnel hasn’t changed. The play calling needs to start featuring him more after 4 straight average or below opponents for the Chargers. They’re going to need him in this one though and while not being cheap, he’s cheaper than we should ever get him on both sites. From an ownership standpoint I love this play. You need to be contrarian at least to some degree in tournaments. This is the contrarian play this week that I prefer.
Value Town
I am quantifying value on each site by price where on FanDuel I am looking for players priced below 6K and DraftKings priced below 5k. These are the guys in GPP’s that are those targeted punts that we need to beat large fields and walk away with the trophy.
Think about this for a moment, you look at the teams at the top and say to yourself, “How in the world did this guy think rostering player X was a good idea?” Well, these are the guys who allow you to get all the heavy hitters in the same lineup. You want a swag bag, you want the big bucks, these are the guys in week 9 I think could help you get there.
FanDuel DraftKings
1. Doug Baldwin 5.7K 1 . Sammy Watkins 4.9K
2. Tre’Quan Smith 5.1K 2. DeSean Jackson 5K
3. Taylor Gabriel 5.8K 3. Mike Williams 3.8K
4. David Moore 5.8K 4. Michael Crabtree 4.8K
5. DeVante Parker 5.8K 5. Curtis Samuel 3.5K
