Chris’ Afternoon Delight: Draftkings and Fanduel NFL Afternoon Slate Guide 12/2/18

Hey, my name is Chris and I will be bringing you your DFS Football “afternoon delight.” This article will be focusing on the afternoon slates each week during the NFL season. The purpose of this article will be to put you on a successful path for this slate. I will break down each game, as well as giving you my favorite plays from those games. Each week this slate will have 2 to 4 games. This means ownership will be heavily concentrated on select players, which is both good and bad to a certain extent. Most of the time in these slates you will need at least two of those chalk players in order to stay with the competition. The key to winning this slate will be to differentiate yourself in other spots in order to get yourself to the top of those large field gpps.

We have big winners weekly, here at the DFS Army. Here is KingMoe, Who is fresh off a 3-way tie for 1st place in the Thursday Showdown.

                                                                  Chiefs V Raiders

Let’s kick this slate off with arguably the best offense in the NFL. A lot of these Chiefs players are extremely overpriced, somewhat for a good reason. They are going up against a Raiders team that has not been good at all throughout the entire season. Their defense will give up a lot of points this game and this game should be done fairly early. With all that being said Conley is my favorite option on the Chiefs. With Watkins being ruled out, Conley should see an uptick in usage in this game. He is a great value option on this slate and will allow you to pay up for multiple high priced players, including Mahomes if you choose to go down that route. Hunt is my next favorite option on this dynamic Chiefs team. The Raiders are dead last in the NFL allowing 152 yards per game on the ground. This game leads to a perfect game script for Hunt. The Chiefs should take a sizeable lead early in this game and as long as they do not feel the need to run the score up the entire game, Hunt should have plenty of opportunities to put up a lot of fantasy numbers. *EDITOR NOTE* Ware becomes the best value play not only on this slate but the entire main slate as well if Hunt is suspended or misses this game. Ware becomes a plug in and play at his price and given the matchup, he should do very well if he gets the whole workload against the Raiders. Mahomes is the next best play on this team. He has been the best QB this season and is a safe bet to put up a decent amount of fantasy points in this game. However, given his price, I believe we can look elsewhere in gpp’s. With Hunt possibly missing this game, there is a scenario that I can see where everyone jumps on the Ware train and leaves Mahomes out of there lineups. With that being said, you could hedge the field and hope that people do not play Ware and Mahomes in the same lineup. Which I am completely okay with doing this weekend. Kelce and Hill are tied for my least favorite options on this team, but considering it is the Chiefs and one of these guys can blow up. Mahomes will likely be my least owned Chief this weekend, not counting if Hunt is not eligible to play this weekend. I will mix and match a lot of these guys in my lineups. No other gpp options for consideration as I have basically listed their entire offense.

Chiefs Top Gpp Plays: Conley, Hunt/Ware, Hill, Kelce, and Mahomes

I have been pretty hard on the Raiders for the past couple of weeks and for good reason. They really do not have anything to play for besides losing more games in order to get a better draft pick. However, we do find ourselves in a situation going up against one of the worst defenses in the NFL. So from a gpp perspective, a couple of plays do open up in this one to make this slate very interesting. Cook is in a great spot against this weak defense. Even though the Raiders have not been playing well at all, Cook is getting his usual 5 targets per game. With Cook being on the right side of game flow and being a lot cheaper than Kelce it makes sense to go to him as one of your TE options on this slate. Martin has rushed for 50 or more yards in the last 3 games that he has played in. He has also been used in the passing game a bit more than usual lately as well and given his price he is a decent option. If Ware gets the start for the Chiefs and you are trying to shoot for the stars, pivoting off of Ware to Martin could be a difference maker this week. Ateman saw 10 targets last week and going up against the worst pass defense in the NFL, he could definitely make something out of it if he sees that volume once again. Ateman is a dart gpp play, but one I am sure will be very low owned. This is something we are looking for in order to separate our lineups from the rest of our opponents. Finally, Carr is the last main option that I am going to talk about. This is a matchup and ownership play as he should be low owned and going up against the worst pass defense. This is a shot in the dark play and I do not trust Carr at all, but in large field gpp you have to get exposure to some of the crazier plays in order to give yourself a shot at winning the grand prize. He is my 6th favorite option at QB, but he does deserve some ownership if you are mass multi entering lineups. Other gpp considerations go out to Roberts and Nelson.

Raiders Top Gpp Plays: Cook, Martin, Ateman, and Carr

K

Jets V Titans

This game is the opposite of fantasy goodness. We can get through this one pretty fast as there are not that many good plays for DFS in this game. To kick things off with the Jets. Kearse is my favorite option. He saw 12 targets last week and I love to target volume. The Titans pass defense is not all that impressive and game-flow should be on the Jets side in this one. I am expecting Kearse to get peppered with targets in this game as their running game has not been good all year besides a couple of flashy performances. Herndon is my sleeper TE on this slate. He is cheap and is getting a lot of targets. I would not be surprised if he outscored or even doubled Kelces stats this weekend. He is a safe option for whoever plays QB for the Jets this weekend and he should see plenty of targets as well in this game. The only other gpp option that I would consider on this team is Enunwa as the Jets should be playing from behind for the most part of this game. There are a lot more guys on the Titans team that I am considering. To start things out Davis is my favorite option on this team. He has been fire and ice for the past couple of weeks and I believe the fire will continue it this week against this weak Jets D. Lewis/Henry are solid options in this game to give a small percentage of your ownership too. I would not go higher than 15% on either of these players. I prefer Henry this week as the Titans should be winning this game, but he has been prone to fumbling as of late and if he fumbles again this week, it would not surprise me if he was benched. Mariota can make things happen with his arms and legs. He is my 4th favorite option on this slate at QB. He is priced well and has a great matchup. Maybe this week we can see him throw for a couple of tuddies and run one in as well. Other gpp considerations go out to Sharpe, he disappointed a lot of us last week and will likely be low owned because of it. It might be worth it to throw a couple of darts with him and see where it takes you.

Jets Top Gpp Plays: Kearse and Herndon

Titans Top Gpp Plays: Davis, Henry/Lewis, and Mariota

                                                                  49er V Seahawks

This is another game where I am not too excited about it outside of DFS. On the 49ers side of the ball, the targets are pretty straightforward. Breida is my top option on this team, he is coming off a 100-yard performance and is in a good spot to repeat it again this week. The 49ers should lean on him again this week as he is one of the few bright spots on this offense. Seattle is ranked 22nd in the NFL against the run as they are giving up 122 yards on the ground per game. Kittle is the next best option on this team and one of the more consistent players at his position that you can go with on this slate. He has seen 10 plus targets in each of his last 2 games and once again game-flow should be on his side in this one. Kittle will be a safe check-down option for Mullens once again this weekend and backup QB’s love throwing the ball to their TE. Finally, Pettis is the last main option on this 49er team. I talked about him a bit last week in chat as a pivot off of Bourne. Goodwin is out once again this weekend and Pettis, who saw 7 targets last week will look for a repeat performance once again this weekend. This is the first 4 game afternoon slate in a long time, so ownership should be more spread out. Other gpp options on the 49ers include Bourne and Mullens.

49er Top Gpp Plays: Breida, Kittle, and Pettis

On the Seahawks side of the ball, Wilson is my favorite option. I have been preaching that Wilson is a guy who starts getting hot in November and that is exactly what he has done. He is a safe option on this slate and his rushing ability gives him room for upside. The 49ers defense is not one to shy away from and is a very good play on this slate and a safe one for the main slate as well. He is priced just high enough that he still piques my interest in gpp’s this weekend and is a great option on this slate. Carson is a solid option on this slate where there is no feature back. With that being said, I am always wary of a possible RBBC and personally, I can never go to high on a player in those situations. He is in a good spot and this Seahawks team have not used Penny or Davis too much outside of Carson being injured. Lockett/Moore are pretty much equal. Both receivers do a lot with little targets. Both could boom at any time. I prefer Moore due to his price, but both are solid gpp options on this slate. Other gpp considerations go out to Baldwin, but he has been pretty non-existent so far into the season.

Seahawks Top Gpp Plays: Wilson, Carson, Moore, and Lockett

Patriots V Vikings

This game is my favorite one of the slate, not only should this game be a great real-life game, but there are a lot of fantasy implications in it. Edelman is my favorite option on the Patriots. He will avoid Rhodes all game long and is one of Brady’s go-to option. This is a game for Brady and his pass catchers and Edelman is the guy off this team who will be leading the way with my ownership. White was not needed last week as the Patriots played the woeful Jets. There was no need for White to be utilized in that game and box score guys will look at last weeks game and will move past him on this slate. Like I said previously, this is a game for Brady and his pass catchers and especially on full ppr sites like DK, his ability is able to shine and be put into full use. Brady should handle all the scoring duties for the Patriots in this game. If they are going to get in the end zone, Brady will likely be leading the way. The Patriots need to keep on winning if they want to have home-field advantage during the playoffs. He is the leader and this Patriots team will go as far as Brady takes. The Vikings defense is good, but that has not stopped Brady in the past when it comes to playing his best against top level talent. Gronkowski is a great gpp play because has been known to disappear in games. He will not get too much of my ownership due to the fact that people are afraid to play him. With that being said he could explode at any time and put up numbers that are unbelievable. He is a playmaker and is one of the best tight ends to ever play in the NFL. The pricing is fair on both sites and he saw 7 targets in last weeks game. He is a huge threat in the red zone and is a great option in gpp’s. Other gpp considerations go out to Gordon and Michel.

Patriots Top Gpp Plays: Edelman, White, Brady, and Gronk

The Vikings have been on fire lately and should continue to put up points this week. The Patriots defense is not that good and if the Patriots can keep up with the Vikings this game should be a shootout. Cousins is my favorite QB on the slate and one of my favorites on the main slate. Cousins is priced too cheap on both sites for the amount of production he has been putting up. The Patriots are ranked 25th against the pass and he should be able to throw the ball all over the field against this defense. He has been consistent for most of the season and he has shined against weak pass defenses this season. Diggs/Thielen are both top options at WR on this slate. Both of these guys are absolutely amazing plays. I prefer Thielen because he lines up in the slot and has been the best WR in the NFL this season. Both players can make plays happen at any time and you could stack both of these guys with Cousins in order to make your lineup a bit more unique. Both of these receivers should be a part of your core player list on this slate and the main slate as well. Rudolph is an excellent option at TE this weekend. He had one of his best performances of the season last week and given his price, he is a great option once again this weekend. He is a bit riskier since he has not done much at all this season, but in gpps you have to take some risks to get your way to the top of the leaderboard. Cook is a great option at RB this weekend and should get overlooked this weekend. The Vikings have not been running the ball too much lately, but Cook is a great talent and on a slate with no top-tier talent taking a risk at the RB position could be the deciding factor needed to take down a gpp.

Vikings Top Gpp Plays: Cousins, Thielen, Diggs, Rudolph, and Cook

                                          The Extra Point is Up…

That game finished up our afternoon delight. *My favorite defensive plays are the Chiefs, Titans, and Seahawks in that order. Whether you are preparing dinner on the east coast or wrapping up lunch on the west coast. Hopefully, your main slate lineups are currently crushing and if you played the early slate it would be great to see you guys at the top of those leaderboards. Feel free to hit me up in our channels for any questions. I am almost always available to talk to. Football is my passion and I am always willing to help out as much as possible. Cash games are fairly easy in these mini slates. Don’t try to be too cute with your lineups and you will be just fine. In gpps’ you will need to have a couple low owned plays to vault you to the top of the leaderboards along with some of the chalky plays as well.
