Chris’ Afternoon Delight: Draftkings and Fanduel NFL Afternoon Slate Guide 11/25/18

Hey, my name is Chris and I will be bringing you your DFS Football “afternoon delight.” This article will be focusing on the afternoon slates each week during the NFL season. The purpose of this article will be to put you on a successful path for this slate. I will break down each game, as well as giving you my favorite plays from those games. Each week this slate will have 2 to 4 games. This means ownership will be heavily concentrated on select players, which is both good and bad to a certain extent. Most of the time in these slates you will need at least two of those chalk players in order to stay with the competition. The key to winning this slate will be to differentiate yourself in other spots in order to get yourself to the top of those large field gpps.

We have big winners weekly, here at the DFS Army. Here is Cookoo, Who is fresh off of a $ 100,000-afternoon slate.

                                                                  Cardinals V Chargers

This NFL Sunday has a slate of games that are not too appetizing for this afternoon slate. However, because of this, it makes for an interesting slate in DFS. To kick things off with the Cardinals, there is not much to love at all here. David Johnson is the top play on this Cardinals team. On the full slate, I will not have much at all of him, but on small slates like this, you need to have some exposure to him. I am not in love with the idea of playing David Johnson this weekend and bringing in price as a factor he is a middle of the pack play at his position this weekend. To be completely honest there is no other real top gpp plays on this teams. However, Kirk would be my other fringe play guy in a large field gpp because of his connection with Rosen. Other gpp considerations go out to Seals-Jones and Larry Fitzgerald.

Cardinals Top Gpp Plays: Johnson and Kirk

The Chargers are very interesting this weekend for one huge reason. Will Gordon play or not? Melvin Gordon is a game-time decision this weekend and the fact that this game is later is awful for the main slate, but great for this slate. Gordon/Ekeler is the top overall option on this slate. If Gordon plays, he will get his yards and most likely find the end zone. Keeping with that scenario, Ekeler still might find his way into getting a lot of usage in the second half due to Gordon’s injury. If Gordon is out, Ekeler would be a near lock on this slate. I say near-lock because there is always merit to fade a player at any given time when someone is slated to be over a 50% ownership. The Cardinals defense will not be able to stop the run and both running backs would be great plays. Allen is my next top option on this offense. Allen should avoid Peterson this weekend and he has always been Rivers favorite option to throw the ball to. He has been heating up as of late, and he should have no problem bringing in a lot of balls and racking up a lot of yards. Rivers is a QB2 or QB3 on this slate. He has been consistent this season with scoring at least 15 points in every game this season. He will not kill your lineup, he could possibly be the highest scoring guy on this slate, but most likely he will finish in the middle of the pack on this slate.

I’ll be using information found on the Research Station that xBenJamminx and CeeGee developed which can be found here for all VIP Members.

Dolphins V Colts

This game is like the previous one that I went over. The Dolphins do not have much to offer in this game. Stills is my favorite option on this Dolphins team this weekend. He has always had a great connection with Tannehill and is an extreme gpp play this weekend. He is one of those guys that will get you either 5 or 20 points and usually not too many times will he score in between those numbers. Gore is priced right for this slate to be an interesting gpp play this weekend. I would not have too much exposure to him but considering his price and the fact that surprisingly has been the best back on this team. I can imagine Gore finishing with a stat line of 60 yards on the ground, with a catch or two and a touchdown. Which would be more than enough considering his price and it allows you to fit more studs into your lineup. Gore would be the ultimate pivot in a large field gpp to Ekeler. Tannehill is the last member of the Dolphins that I will mention here. He has no injury designation for this weekend and due to his price he makes for a fringe gpp option at best. I would personally not go higher than 10-15% as an exposure rating to him this weekend. Your main QBs are going to be Big Ben, Rivers, and Luck. I can envision a scenario where the stud RBs on those teams take most or all of the scoring and in a game where the Dolphins should be losing for most of the game, Tannehill could be that crazy contrarian play that wins you a gpp. Other Gpp considerations go out to Parker and Amendola.

Dolphins Top Gpp Plays: Stills, Gore, and Tannehill

On the Colts side of the ball, we know who is going to get all the reps and score the majority of the fantasy points in this game. Mack is in a fantastic matchup this weekend and is one of the top options at RB not only on this slate but the entire main slate as well. Mack should have plenty of opportunities to rack up yards and potential touchdowns in this game. The Dolphins are ranked 30th in the NFL for rushing yards allowed per game, allowing on average 142 rushing yards per game. Mack is my favorite option at RB on this slate this weekend. Hilton used to be a gpp play, but he has turned into a consistent producer on this offense. He will be shadowed by Howard and that does not scare me at all in this game. That might keep his ownership down, which makes for a great play in a large field gpp. To make this even better, Hilton always plays better at home than on the road. Luck priced as the highest or one of the highest QB depending on what site you are playing. That might keep is ownership down and the fact that Mack should be heavily owned will also keep his ownership down as well. I wouldn’t have Mack and Luck in the same lineup. In the scenario that Mack does not find himself scoring a touchdown, Luck will be the winning gpp QB because this Dolphins defense will give up plenty of touchdowns. Doyle/Ebron are flip flops to me as the next best guy to target on this team. Doyle has been more consistent than Ebron in the games they both have played together, but Ebron has scored the vast majority of touchdowns between them. In a large field gpp, I would stick to Ebron because of his ability to score touchdowns and the fact that he was not targeted last week should keep his ownership low. I think many people will have a bad taste in their mouths from last week and Ebron could be that difference maker this week to take you to the top of the leaderboard.

Colts Top Gpp Plays: Mack, Hilton, Luck, Ebron, and Doyle

Another big winner, congratulations to dramos77 on his gpp takedown

                                                                  Steelers V Broncos

Conner is in a smash spot on this slate and to me, he would be a near-lock if the Steelers were playing at home this week. Since that is not the case, Conner still has great matchup going up against a Broncos defense that is ranked 23rd for fantasy points allowed against the position and a defense that is ranked 27th in rushing yards allowed per game. On this 3 game slate, I am feeling a 3 RB approach is the best way to way to go about making lineups. In a mass entry scenario, I would use a 65-35 approach using RB-WR in the flex position. Brown is the most talented WR on this slate and could under-owned due to the stud named RBs on this slate. Brown has beaten the Madden curse thus far into the season and has been consistent for the most part of this season. He is a safe play, with a very high ceiling potential and should be one of the cornerstone pieces of your WR pool.  Big Ben is a great play this weekend and has been great the past couple of weeks. The Broncos defense is not one to be afraid of like years past. This defense has many holes and there should be plenty of opportunities for fantasy points to be spread around on this team. McDonald is my last top option on this Steelers offense. The Broncos have had a weakness against covering TE for a while now. Mcdonald is in a great spot in this game and it is unfortunate that he is priced up at this position on this slate. His production has been up and down this season and there is merit for any one of the top options at TE on this slate and I would suggest in having a near even mixture of exposure to the TE in these games. Other Gpp considerations go out to Juju, he has a semi-hard matchup, but one that I am not afraid of this weekend.

Steelers Top Gpp Plays: Conner, Brown, Big Ben, and McDonald

There is not much to love on this Broncos offense. The Steelers defense is actually one of my preferred plays at the DST spot this weekend because of this. Lindsay is my top option on this offense because of his involvement in both the running game and the passing game. Lindsay should see a ton of work in the passing game this week as the Steelers should have the lead for the majority of this game. Lindsay led the team at his position in snap percentage, playing 57% of the snaps last week. He is a gpp option and is an okay pivot off of Mack this week, but he is on the lower end of my RB exposures this week. Sanders is a solid option, but I am not in love with anyone on this team. He should lead the team in all of the receiving stats this week, but that may not be enough to be to win a gpp this weekend. By playing in the slot he should avoid Joe Haden in this game and hopefully that will mean a lot of looks for him in this game. Heuerman is a fine option at TE as there are several decent options on this slate. Since Thomas’s departure from the team, he has seen a decent amount of targets each week. If I had to rank the TE’s on this slate it would go as follows; Ebron, Mcdonald, Doyle, and Heuerman. Other gpp considerations go out to Sutton. He has also seen a good amount of targets this week and is a safer value option at WR this weekend, even though I do not think he provides the ceiling needed to win a gpp, I can see it happening in this game.

Broncos Top Gpp Plays: Lindsay, Sanders, and Heuerman

                                          The Extra Point is Up…

That game finished up our afternoon delight. *My favorite defensive plays are the Chargers, Colts, and Steelers, In that order. I will mention that all 3 of these defenses are pretty equal and any one of those 3 are great options. Whether you are preparing dinner on the east coast or wrapping up lunch on the west coast. Hopefully, your main slate lineups are currently crushing and if you played the early slate it would be great to see you guys at the top of those leaderboards. Feel free to hit me up in our channels for any questions. I am almost always available to talk to. Football is my passion and I am always willing to help out as much as possible. Cash games are fairly easy in these mini slates. Don’t try to be too cute with your lineups and you will be just fine. In gpps’ you will need to have a couple low owned plays to vault you to the top of the leaderboards along with some of the chalky plays as well.
