Chris’ Afternoon Delight: Draftkings and Fanduel NFL Afternoon Slate Guide 11/11/18

Hey, my name is Chris and I will be bringing you your DFS Football “afternoon delight.” This article will be focusing on the afternoon slates each week during the NFL season. The purpose of this article will be to put you on a successful path for this slate. I will break down each game, as well as giving you my favorite plays from those games. Each week this slate will have 2 to 4 games. This means ownership will be heavily concentrated on select players, which is both good and bad to a certain extent. Most of the time in these slates you will need at least two of those chalk players in order to stay with the competition. The key to winning this slate will be to differentiate yourself in other spots in order to get yourself to the top of those large field gpps.

We have big winners weekly, here at the DFS Army.

                                                                  Chargers V Raiders

The Raiders look like they are completely tanking the rest of the season in hopes for a top draft pick. Gruden seems to only be concerned with the future of his team, as they have acquired several draft picks from other teams in the next couple of years. Jalen Richard is the only player that I am somewhat interested on this team, but even that is stretching it. The Chargers are my favorite defense on this slate and I would not be surprised if the Raiders get shut out in this game. Melvin Gordon is the top play on this Chargers team. He should completely smash this Raiders defense. The Raiders are dead last in the league, allowing 144 yards per game on the ground. Gordon is featured in both the running and passing game, with that, he has one of the safest floors on the slate and a very high ceiling as well. Keenan Allen is my next top play on this Chargers team. He has a great matchup against Leon Hall, who is allowing a 79% catch rate to WR’s this season. He is a great gpp play, as there are plenty of WR’s on this slate that should receive higher ownership. I like him a lot more on Draftkings for the ppr upside. Other gpp considerations include both of the Williams WR and Ekeler.

Chargers Top Gpp Plays: Gordon, Defense, and Allen

Raiders Top Gpp Plays: NONE

I’ll be using information found on the Research Station that xBenJamminx and CeeGee developed which can be found here for all VIP Members.

                                                                 Dolphins V Packers

The Dolphins are better than the Raiders, but for DFS purposes, there is not much to love on this team. I like Amendola on Draftkings a lot more than FD, but he should be the top passing option on this team. The Packers are favored by 9.5 points on Sunday, so we can imply that the Dolphins should be trailing for the majority of this game. Amendola should see a lot of targets and has a solid floor with the potential to get in the end zone. Parker and Stills are essentially the same player. Both of them are large field gpp plays as they are either going to get you a couple of points or one will blow up and get 100 yards receiving and a touchdown or two. All three of these WR’s are in play as salary savers and gpp darts on this slate. Their ownership should be fairly low, especially Parker and Stills.

Dolphins Top Plays: Amendola, and Parker/Stills

Here comes Mr. R-E-L-A-X aka Aaron Rodgers. The Packers absolutely need to win this game, they probably need to win the rest of their games to make sure that they get into the playoffs. The Dolphins are ranked 29th in sacks, so Rodgers should have plenty of time to torch this defense. The Dolphins are in the bottom half of the league in pass defense and knowing how this offense runs, Rodgers should easily find the end zone multiple times. On this slate, he is my favorite gpp play because I am expecting his ownership to be much lower than where he should be. Adams is Rodgers go-to WR. He has scored a TD every week this season besides 2. He is my second favorite WR on this team, but he is in line for a big game and most likely another week with a touchdown. Scantling is my favorite option at WR on this team. He his priced well on both sites and with Xavier Howard shadowing Adams, Scantling should see a couple extra targets this weekend. At his price and with his ability to make plays a couple of extra targets could go a long way. Jones is my last play on this Packers team. Jones checks all the boxes when it comes to running backs that I like to play in fantasy. He is playing at home, the Packers are favored by 9.5 points, and going up against a defense that is ranked 28th in the NFL in rush defense, allowing 136 yards per game on the ground. He is in an amazing spot and if there ever was a week where a Packers running back scores more points than Rodgers, this is it. I would also like to note the Jimmy Graham is the best Te on this slate with no competition around him.

Packers Top Plays: Rodgers, Scantling, Adams, Jones, and Graham

Another big winner, congrats to nargz11 on his gpp takedown

                                                                  Seahawks V Rams

When November rolls around, for some reason Russel Wilson begins to play his best football. for that reason, Wilson is my top target on this Seahawks team. He brings a rushing upside that no other QB on this slate can match. He is my 3rd favorite QB on this slate and is always a threat to be a gpp winning QB. His weapons are not the best and if he had a stud WR on the outside and a decent TE, he would be throwing for 300 yards nearly every week. Wilson will be in catch up mode for the majority of this game and he will need to use his arms and legs in order to keep the Seahawks in this game. Baldwin will always be his top option at WR. He has not had a good season at all thus far, but hopefully, as Wilson begins to heat up, Baldwin will too. In the past three games, Baldwin has caught 12 out of 15 targets for 194 yards. He has yet to catch a TD this season and I think it finally comes this weekend. Lockett is a great gpp option because his ownership will generally be pretty low and he always has the threat of going for over 100 yards and a touchdown in a game. In their first meeting against the Rams, this season Lockett went 3-98-1. Which would be great considering his price and projected ownership. Every other WR on this team are complete shots in the dark. If Carson ends up not playing this week, I really like Davis as a value RB play this weekend. Last week when Carson was forced out of the game, Davis ran for 62 yards while catching 7 passes for 45 yards. He played well against the Rams in their last meeting and his price is right and will be on the field on passing downs. Other gpp considerations go out to Ed Dickson and Nick Vannett because one of these guys will get be the primary pass-catching tight end. It is hard to tell who it will be.

Seahawks Top Plays: Wilson, Baldwin, Lockett, and Davis

On the Rams, Goff is my top play and is also my favorite of the entire slate. The first time these two teams met, Goff played a great game, but only came out scoring 1 touchdown. I believe the roles reverse this time around and Goff finds his pass catchers multiple times in the end zone this weekend. He has 3 great WR’s on his team and Gurley is a great option to throw the ball to as well. Gurley will continue to do amazing things each and every week. He is one of the safest bets there is in football, but I do not see him paying off his price tag. The only reason that I am ranking him higher than Gordon this week is that this game should stay somewhat competitive. I would rank the WR’s on this team for gpp as followed; Woods, Cooks, and Kupp. Essentially all three of these WR’s are amazing plays on this slate and double stacking them with Goff is an option that I would highly suggest to separate yourself from the field. Cook is the explosive guy who can make a big play happen at any point and time. Woods has been consistent this season and is always a threat to take any game over and Kupp has a very high usage rate in the red zone that helps him keep up with the other two receivers on this team.

Rams Top Gpp Plays: Goff, Gurley, Woods, Cooks, and Kupp

                                          The Extra Point is Up…

That game finished up our afternoon delight. *My favorite defensive plays are the Chargers, Rams, and Packers, In that order. Whether you are preparing dinner on the east coast or wrapping up lunch on the west coast. Hopefully, your main slate lineups are currently crushing and if you played the early slate it would be great to see you guys at the top of those leaderboards. Feel free to hit me up in our channels for any questions. I am almost always available to talk to. Football is my passion and I am always willing to help out as much as possible. Cash games are fairly easy in these mini slates. Don’t try to be too cute with your lineups and you will be just fine. In gpps’ you will need to have a couple low owned plays to vault you to the top of the leaderboards along with some of the chalky plays as well.
