NBA Free Squares October 31st

Welcome to the DFS Army NBA Free Squares article where I will try to break down my favorite NBA Free Squares and Fanduel and Draftkings for Today’s NBA Slate.

So what is a Free Square exactly? In NBA DFS there will be situations that come up that will lead to bench players getting more minutes. Some may even enter the starting lineup. These players will often be priced as backups (their normal role). The increase in their minutes and role will give us someone we can plug into our lineups and expect them to reach or exceed value. The low cost of these players will allow us to spend up across the rest of our lineups. Wich gives us the ability to lock in some high dollar studs.

Free Square Results for yesterday – October 30th

Jeff Green – 12.50 fp – 3.12x value
Gerald Green – 10.80 fp – 2.40x value
Justin Jackson – 4.50 fp – 1.12x value
Bradley Beal – 41.25 fp – 6.06x value (draftkings)
Chris Paul – 40.50 fp -4.21x value

Second rought day in a row yesterday. All of our cheap guys fell flat on their faces last night. Beal and CP3 did pretty well but overall not the results we’re looking for. The Top Values on the slate last night were Tony Parker, 39.70 fp and 10.72x value. Sam Dekker 37.80 fp and 10.21x value and Tristan Thompson 42.10 fp for 9.79x value. The Top fantasy point scorers last night were Russell Westbrook 57.80 fp for 4.81x value. Kawhi Leonard 57.40 fp for 5.85x value and Paul George 54.40 fp for 5.97x value.

🎃 Elie Okobo – PHO – PG – $3,500

With Isaiah Canaan and Devin Booker OUT tonight Okobo should get his first start of his career. He’s min price on Fanduel and will be a very popular punt play this evening. He played 31 minutes last game, replacing Canaan after he was injured. In that game he scored 18 points, grabbed 5 reb and dished out 7 assists on his way to 31.50 fantasy points. The Drop Score format is perfect to take a chance on a guy this who wont hurt you at all if he fails with his min price salary. He will allow you to pay up at other playces this evening and should be a lock in your cash games if he gets the starting nod tonight.

🎃 Derrick Rose – MIN – PG – $5,500

With trade rumors swirling Jimmy Butler is out tonight for the T’Wolves. News also recently came out that Jeff Teague will also be out for the T’Wolves tonight. That is going to open up about 70 minutes of playing time for bench players to fill. There is also a chance that Andrew Wiggins could be limited tonight or miss the game completely which would open up even more opportunities tonight. Derrick Rose appears to be one of the better mid tier value plays on the slate because of all these injuries. Rose has scored 27.90, 26.60 and 26.10 fantasy points in his last 3 games. He has played 29, 26 and 29 minutes in those games. With Butler and Teague out tonight, Rose should easily eclipse the 30 minute mark.

🎃 Josh Jackson – PHO – SF – $3,7000

His price keeps falling because, well, he’s been awful lately. We can’t let that effect our decision making too much though because tonight’s situation is primed for him to break out. The Suns will be without Devin Booker and Isaiah Canaan tonight vs the Spurs. The matchup is not ideal vs the Spurs but Jackson has seen a 30% usage increase this year with Booker off the court. He’s only been averaging .67 fantasy points per minute while he’s been starting for Devin Booker. I expect that to change tonight, as the Suns are very thin tonight and he’ll have plenty of minutes to pay off his salary this evening.

🎃 Josh Okogie – MIN – SG – $4,600

Everything we wrote about Derrick Rose above applied to Josh Okogie as well tonight for the T’Wolves. With Jimmy Butler and Jeff Teague out there will be plenty of minutes to go around for the T’Wolves role players tonight. Okogie has played 30, 29 and 26 minutes in his last 3 games. Scoring 38.30, 13.30 and 24.70 fantasy points in those games. Tonight vs the Utah Jazz he should surpass the 30 minute mark with all of these inactives.

🎃 Tyus Jones – MIN – PG – $3,500

Another T’Wolves player and another Min Price Point Guard to chose from this evening. On Fanduel these plays are a lot safer than they are on Draftkings since we get the “Drop Score” format. That being said I think its going to be hard for Jones to fail at this price here tonight. With Butler and Teague out, Jones its going to play 25-30 minutes tonight as the backup point guard to Derrick Rose. He scored 25.40 fantasy points vs the Bucks the last time he eclipsed the 25 minute mark. He’s a great salary saver tonight who should see much more run than usual.

🎃 Don’t forget about me!

So much talk today about all the value because of the injuries on the T’Wolves and Suns people may forget that Warriors play the Pelicans tonight in a game that has a 238 total. The Warriors team total is currently sitting at 124 and Steph Curry is priced at $9,900 on Fanduel. The Warriors just smashed the Bulls 2 days ago hanging 149 points on them thanks to the 52 from Klay Thompson. That game got out of hand pretty quickly as the Warriors were up 40 in the 2nd quarter. Steph Curry scored 51.10 fantasy points in that game, despite only taking 9 shots and only playing 24 minutes. The matchup tonight vs the Pelicans is one of the best in the league as they rank 27th in the league in scoring defense. I don’t expect the Pelicans to be able to slow down the Warriors tonight so look Steph to put up another 50-60 fantasy point game.
