Welcome to the DFS Army NBA Free Squares article where I will try to break down my favorite NBA Free Squares and Fanduel and Draftkings for Today’s NBA Slate.

So what is a Free Square exactly? In NBA DFS there will be situations that come up that will lead to bench players getting more minutes. Some may even enter the starting lineup. These players will often be priced as backups (their normal role). The increase in their minutes and role will give us someone we can plug into our lineups and expect them to reach or exceed value. The low cost of these players will allow us to spend up across the rest of our lineups. Wich gives us the ability to lock in some high dollar studs. On some nights, you may find some higher dollar players listed as well because the matchups may just be too good to ignore. Each day I’m going to list my 3 or 4 favorite Free Squares for you.

Monday 10/22 Free Squares Results

Josh Hart – 38.50 fp – 6.63x value
Luka Doncic – 31.60 fp – 4.21x value
Kyle Kuzma – 49.10 fp – 7.55x value
Jaren Jackson – 23.90 fp – 3.51x value
Isaiah Canaan – 14.20 fp – 3.30x value
Enes Kanter – 30.60 fp – 4.08x value

Josh Hart and Kyle Kuzma crushed last night, with a little help from the overtime vs the Spurs. The others were ok, not great, outside of Jackson and Canaan who were big let downs. I knew the matchup was tough for Jackson, but, I still went there with the injury to Jermichael Green. For awhile it looked like Luka Doncic was on his way to a 50 point fantasy game, but then he fell off down the stretch. Typical of rookies no matter how good they are. They have the ability to dissapear at times. All in all, solid night, hopefully you all loaded up on Josh Hart and Kyle Kuzma and built around them.

My Favorite NBA Free Squares for Today – October 23rd

Tonight we’ve only got a 3 game slate, but boy oh boy do we have a nice slate to go over. Every game on the slate today has a 215.5 total or higher with the Pelicans and Clippers game litterally jumping off the page with a 242.25 total. The Pelicans are pegged to score 122.75 points and the Clippers are set at 119.5. Easily the two highest team totals of the night. So that’s where we’re going to start.

Tonight you are going to watch to get as much Anthony Davis and or Nikola Jokic in your lineups as possible. I am not going to bother writing up either of them below, they are both off the charts elite plays tonight. I’ll try to list a few value guys and mid tier priced guys that can help you fit them into your lineups.

💥 Jrue Holiday – NOP – PG

Give me the point guard on the team with the highest implied team total on the slate any day of the week. Anthony Davis gets all the attention as the leader of this team, and for good reason, he’s a Top 4 player in this league. Jrue Holiday however is the guy that makes this offense go night in and night out. He’s started this season right where he left off last season. Scoring 28.60 fantasy points vs Houston in Game 1. He followed that up with 43.20 fantasy points vs Sacramento in Game 2. He put up a 30% usage rate in his last game and I expect him to hover around that 25-30% range all year. Tonight’s game vs the Clippers is going to be exciting to watch and has one of the highest game totals I have ever seen.

💥 TJ McConnell – PHI – PG

Not a sexy play here at all, but, if Ben Simmons is out tonight McConnell should get the start at point guard. In cash games he’s pretty much a lock, just eat the chalk and move on tonight. In tourneys you can easily fade and take someone with much more upside. Its not about what McConnell does tonight really, its about what his 4,000 salary allows you to do with the rest of your lineup. If you want to fit the Brow, and Nikola Jokic in your lineups tonight you need some cheap guys like McConnel in your lineup. Let me repeat this is only a play if Ben Simmons is out

💥 Torrey Craig – DEN – SG

Another not so sexy pick that you can pair with McConnell above is Nuggest SG Torrey Craig. He’s been seeing his minutes rise since Will Barton went down with an injury. He’s only priced at 3,900 tonight on Fanduel. He played 26 minutes last game, Barton’s 1st game out, and scored 24.80 fantasy points. He’s not a high usage, high ceiling player at all. He’s simply a guy that you can plug into your lineup that “should” not kill you. His salary will allow you to pay up for a few studs throughout the rest of your lineup tonight.

💥 De’Aaron Fox – SAC – PG

I told you a few articles ago that I was going to keep playing this kid until his price caught up to his production. Well, here we are, with Fox now priced at 8,000 on Fanduel he’s no longer the value he once was. I still love him in this spot tonight and he’s still a tad bit underpriced given his production. The Kings have played 3 games this year and he’s gone over 40 fantasy points in 2 of the 3 games. He’s coming into tonight’s game with a 26% usage rate. He’s averaging just about 20 points per game, along with 8 ast and nearly 2 stl per game. Tonight vs the Nuggets he’s going to have a great game environment and should be able to reach these numbers again.

💥 Gary Harris – DEN – SG

I wrote up Gary Harris the other day as a Free Square when we found out Will Barton would be out for awhile. Harris delivered that day against the Warriors in a big way. He scored 28 points on 11/20 shooting. He also had 3 reb, 1 ast, 2 stl and a 27.5% usage rate on his way to 42.10 fantasy points and near 7.0x value on Fanduel. Tonight he gets another juicy matchup without Will Barton vs the Kings. He’s only priced at 7,200 tonight so we need to take advantage of this before his price increases.

💥 Blake Griffin – DET – PF

This is more of a tournament play tonight. With most people trying to fit Davis and Jokic, I think Blake goes severely underowned tonight. Andre Drummond has been battling the flu and could miss the game, and you get a prime spot for Blake to show out vs the Sixers tonight. With Drummond off the floor, Blake sees a 5% usage increase and averages 5 more fantasy points per 36 minutes. He’s a very solid pay up to be contrarian play this evening.

The Brow is obviously fully in play tonight. On a small 3 game slate even priced at 13,000 he’s gotta be considered for your cash and gpp teams. If you wanna get off him in tournaments you can stack up the rest of his team. This will give you a little different roster construction. Elf Payton, Jru Holiday and Nikola Mirotic should all do well in this game tonight. A 122.75 team total means this entire lineup is in play tonight. Lock and load the Pelicans tonight. Double down with some mid priced Clippers on the other side. You’ve got a good ole fashion game stack on your hands.
