Welcome to the DFS Army NBA Free Squares article where I will try to break down my favorite NBA Free Squares and Fanduel and Draftkings for Todayâs NBA Slate.
So what is a Free Square exactly? In NBA DFS there will be situations that come up that will lead to bench players getting more minutes. Some may even enter the starting lineup. These players will often be priced as backups (their normal role). The expected increase in their minutes and role will give us someone we can plug into our lineups and comfortably expect them to reach or exceed value. The low cost of these players will allow us to spend up across the rest of our lineups. Wich gives us the ability to lock in some high dollar studs. On some nights, you may find some higher dollar players listed as well because the matchups may just be too good to ignore. Each day Iâm going to list my 3 or 4 favorite Free Squares for you.

Not a bad showing Yesterday. Payne sucked, because, well, he pretty much sucks. The other guys all met or exceeded value. The big dogs ate with Embid leading the way. Tonight is a solid slate with lots of great plays. Lets dig in!
My Favorite NBA Free Squares for Today â October 19th
đ„ Dennis Schroder â SG â OKC
Russell Westbrook is likely out again tonight for the Thunder. This will once again open up all the usage Dennis Schroder can handle tonight vs the Clippers. He played 34 minutes in the first game of the season without Westbrook and had a usage rate of 31.32%. He scored 21 points, dished out 6 assists, grabbed 9 rebounds and even had 1 block in that game for a total of 46.80 fantasy points. Iâm not sure if we can expect a near 50 point performance again, but, I feel like high 30âs and low 40âs are going to be well within his reach whenver Westbrook misses a game.
đ„ Malcom Brogdon â MIL â SG
This is more of a price play than it is a matchup play tonight. The Pacers are no slouch defensively but, I really like Brogdon tonight. He played 38 minutes in the first game of the season and while he didnât light the world on fire (only scoring 21.60 fantasy points) i believe the opportunity is going to be there for him this season. On tonightâs slate, with guys like Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo and others all priced way up, we need to find some moderately priced players to try and fit them in. Brogdon is going to fill that role in my roster tonight.

đ„ Paul George â SF â OKC
Everything I said above about Dennise Schroder applies here as well to Paul George. When Russell Westbrook is out, there is just so much usage to go around and these two will be the primary benificiaries of that. Last game George played 37 minutes with a usage rate of 35.86%. He attempted 23 shots (12 3 pointers) and connects on 9 of them. He finished the game with 27 points, 2 reb, 5 ast, 4 stl and 43.90 fantasy points. His price is a little steeper than Schroderâs, priced at 9,200 on Fanduel but the opportunity is there again for him to have a great game in Westbrookâs absence.
đ„ DeâAaron Fox â PG â SAC
Fox played 37 minutes last game and had a usage rate of 26.37%. He score 21 points and stuffed the stat sheet with peripheral stats on his way to 42.30 Fanduel Points. The Kings have a juicy matchup tonight with the Pelicans and this game has the highest total on the slate at 232. We donât really expect the Kings to win the game tonight, as they are currently 10 point dogs on the road. However, the quick pace of both teams and the lack of Defense being played by the Pelicans (29th in the NBA last year) should lead to some great opportunities for Fox and the rest of his teammates tonight. Heâs priced moderately at 6,500 on Fanduel so heâs not an extreme value play, however, heâs too cheap given the matchup and his role in this Offense.

đ„ Do you have the Guts to Fade?
Anthony Davis broke the slate on Wednesday playing 39 minutes and dropping 32 points, 16 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks on the Rockets for a 80.20 fantasy point night. Tonight, his price reflects that monster game as he is priced at 13,300 on Fanduel. The matchup vs the Kings is PRIME donât get me wrong. However, I think we can dance our way around The Brow this evening and target some other players on his own team in the exact same matchup.
Guys like Elfrid Payton, Jrue Holiday and Nikola Mirotic all have elite matchups tonight. If you fade The Brow in GPPâs and load up on the other players on his team that creates a great leverage play for you in GPPâs. If you fade him, youâre hoping he âonlyâ scores 60 tonight and not 80 again like Wednesday night.
Go big or go home
You can bring this Pelicans stack back on the other side. Kings players DeâAaron Fox, Buddy Hield and Willie Culley Stein make a great stack. This game has the highest total of the night so get some game stacks of this game in your GPPs. Most people that stack this game will have The Brow. Your stack without him would be very unique and have just as much upside.
