DabbingPuggle’s NFL DFS “Draw Plays” for Fanduel or Draftkings Week 8

Welcome everyone, to this weeks edition of Draw Plays!! I’m your host DabbingPuggle, bringing you this weeks insights on the best WR/CB match-ups for your GPP’s. A quick note before we dive in. I like to have fun and make money; I plan on doing both things every Sunday for the next few months. If you like fun, jump in my room #puggle-nfl on Sunday morning 10-1. If you like making money, be sure to read all the articles our NFL staff has for you each week. If you don’t like either, take a hike. Get it? Hut Hut Hike… let’s do this Army!!

Tier 1 Draw Plays

Adam Thielen Vs. P.J. Williams

Adam Thielen is making a strong case for MVP this season and that’s not something we see out of the WR position well, ever. It may sound a little crazy but I don’t think it’s impossible. At this pace Thielen still would not hit that elusive 2000 yard mark that has never been accomplished but would break the record for receptions as he’s currently on track for 153. These are absurd numbers and I am going to be an avid fan going forward to hopefully watch history be made.  P.J. Williams is making only his third start of the season this week and couldn’t be in a worse position. Thielen is leading the NFL in Yards, Catches, Targets and is 2nd in YAC behind only Albert Wilson thanks to his wild week 6. This one of those cases where I most definitely eat the chalk. Typically I only focus on the main slate for this article, but I wanted to highlight this spot this week for those of you playing other contest types.

 A.J. Green Vs. Carlton Davis

AJ Green is leading the league in target share for any teams receivers, accounting for 29% of all looks for the Bengals passing game. There are guys in this league that we don’t fade in any match-up and Green is one of them. The guys I write up here each week are the ones I feel are in the best positions to succeed each week, so when you see a stud on this list, don’t think too hard. Last week I said Davis is not one of the weaker Buccaneer defenders but as a whole their passing defense is a mess.

Tyler Lockett Vs. Darius Slay

Tyler Lockett leads a weak Seahawks receiving core in Yards, receptions, targets, and touchdowns. Doug Baldwin looked healthy against the Raiders and should be the primary target for Russell Wilson coming off a bye week. So why Lockett? Darius Slay is extremely overrated in my opinion and this is exactly the type of receiver he struggles against. Lockett has blazing speed and a filthy double move at the top of his routes that can shake even the best defenders. The presence of Baldwin will only increase the opportunity for Lockett to produce in this match-up.

Tyler Boyd Vs. M.J. Stewart

Tyler Boyd is this weeks lucky contestant on “Matched Up With M.J.” Go read some of the previous editions of  my Draw Play articles and see just how often I am attacking here (with great success). He really is a mess of a nickel; this guy has looked more like 5 pennies scrambling around all over the place. This is another extreme plus match-up for the opposing receiver and luckily for us, it’s a damn good one. Boyd is quickly becoming one of my favorite players in the league and should bounce back from a disappointing week 7 in a big way.

Tier 2 Draw Plays

T.Y. Hilton Vs. Daryl Worley

Worley is making his third consecutive start this season and while the sample size is small he is has still allowed opposing receivers to catch everything. A 91% opposing catch rate is something to pay attention to through two starts and while it’s doubtful that pace will keep up it’s still worth attacking. TY Hilton is the top option for the Colts offense and found the end zone twice in his return from injury last week. I don’t see him having any trouble in this spot and can return top price receiver value this week at a small discount over some of the big dogs.

Christian Kirk Vs. Greg Mabin

Here is my speculation play for the week, but I don’t think it’s reaching too much. Christian Kirk leads all rookie receivers in catches through 7 weeks of football. Yes, more than Ridley and Coutee. The 49ers while not being a good team, have somehow been able to run the football these last few weeks and it’s been what has kept them contending. On the other side of the ball we have a ACC team with very few bright spots for the future aside from Kirk. His primary defender will be Greg Mabin making only his second career start but through his sophomore season has still seen 26% of opposing targets in the time he’s spent on the field. Kirk has shown the ability to perform when given the looks. A new OC in Byron Leftwich may be just what the doctor ordered to get this Cardinals producing.

Odell Beckham Jr. Vs. Josh Norman

OBJ continues his feud with Josh Norman this weekend and while I usually would not target him, Norman has done what most shutdown all pro corners do…regress. He’s still in the upper echelon of corners, but he’s no longer a guy we need to look at and say “nope not against him.” Norman is still getting a ton of respect with an opposing target rate of 12% but he is also allowing an opposing catch rate of 71%. That number is a bottom 15 score for someone who we’re supposed to be regarding as a shutdown corner. Fact is, when opposing offenses are targeting him, he’s doing the exact opposite of that. The Giants don’t have a choice, they need to feed the ball to Beckham… I’m not going to be scared off his price or match-up and play to the potential upside and ownership in this one.

Anthony Miller Vs. Parry Nickerson

Now last week when we went after Nickerson, we had Thielen at our disposal. Anthony Miller has not really had the amount of targets we would of hoped for, but he gets a great match-up here and hopefully will have more opportunities to produce for us. His situation against Parry Nickerson is right up there with the best places to attack in week 8 and also offers us salary relief on both sites. Among corners with over 100 routes covered this season, Nickerson leads the pack with a 24% opposing target rate.

Value Town

I am quantifying value on each site by price where on FanDuel I am looking for players priced below 6K and DraftKings priced below 5k. These are the guys in GPP’s that are those targeted punts that we need to beat large fields and walk away with the trophy.

Think about this for a moment, you look at the teams at the top and say to yourself, “How in the world did this guy think rostering player X was a good idea?” Well, these are the guys who allow you to get all the heavy hitters in the same lineup. You want a swag bag, you want the big bucks, these are the guys in week 8 I think could help you get there.

FanDuel                                                    DraftKings

1. Taylor Gabriel 5.5K                                                                1 . Sammy Watkins 4.6K

2. Jordy Nelson 5.3K                                                                  2.  Demaryius Thomas 4.9K

3. Marvin Jones 6K                                                                     3.  Chris Godwin 4.5K

4. Marquise Goodwin 5.2K                                                      4.  Willie Snead 4.2K

5. Courtland Sutton 5.3K                                                          5.  Martavis Bryant 3.7K
