Hey, my name is Chris and I will be bringing you your DFS Football “afternoon delight.” This article will be focusing on the afternoon slates each week during the NFL season. The purpose of this article will be to put you on a successful path for this slate. I will break down each game, as well as giving you my favorite plays from those games. Each week this slate will have 2 to 4 games. This means ownership will be heavily concentrated on select players, which is both good and bad to a certain extent. Most of the time in these slates you will need at least two of those chalk players in order to stay with the competition. The key to winning this slate will be to differentiate yourself in other spots in order to get yourself to the top of those large field gpps.
Colts V Raiders
Let us begin with the Colts Offense. Hilton is my favorite play on the from the Colts Offense. Hilton is usually a guy who I only play while he is at home because he plays so much better there. Hilton should be able to burn this Raiders defense and hopefully, we can see the old Hilton that used to get 50 plus yard touchdowns. Mack is the next guy who I will be targeting for the Colts. He is an every down back and has been playing great as of late. He should be able to continue his success this week against this weak Raiders Defense. Luck is one of my favorite plays at QB on this slate. He has a solid floor and if this game turns in to a shootout, which I do not think it will, his ceiling is tremendous. Luck should be able to throw for a couple of touchdowns, either way, this weekend and is a solid play. Ebron is consistently getting a good amount of targets each week and is in a good spot once again this weekend. Luck loves throwing the ball to his TE’s and Ebron should have a solid floor once again this weekend. The top three TE on this slate are all fairly even this weekend and it would not surprise me if any one of them is the highest scorer for that position. Other gpp considerations for the Colts go out to Chester Rogers.
Colts Top GPP Plays: Hilton, Mack, Luck, Ebron
The Raiders are a complete disaster, even though Cooper has not been doing much, to me, it feels like the Raiders are already looking forward to the next season. With that being said, Richard is my favorite value play on this slate and one of my favorites on the main slate. Rocket Richard should not be too heavily owned, because everyone will be flocking to Doug Martin, who will be the new starting RB this week. I am predicting that the Colts will get up on the Raiders quickly in this game, thus thrusting Richard into a prime spot this weekend as he is the passing down back and the end of half running back. Bryant is my gpp flier on this slate, he is the kind of player that will either get you 4 fantasy points or 20. He is the kind of player that could easily ruin your lineup or take it to the top of the leaderboards. I have no problem with Bryant in large field gpps this weekend as the Raiders should be passing early and often. Nelson is my last main target on this offense. His workload should see a slight increase with Cooper being traded away to the Cowboys. The slot position in the NFL has become one of the most popular positions. Nelson should be able to take advantage of the Colts secondary in this game, and with the expected game script, he offers a high floor with a good ceiling. Other gpp considerations go out to Cook and Roberts.

49ers V Cardinals
On this slate and on the overall main slate there is not much to love at all in this game. The Cardinals have made a change and named Leftwich the new offensive coordinator. One of the first goals that he mentioned was putting the ball in David Johnson’s hand more often. David Johnson is in a smash spot this weekend and I will be firing away at him in a lot of my lineups this weekend. I am hopeful that Johnson will see the type of usage that he saw in years past, back when he was a consistent week in and week out top 3 fantasy performer. The 49ers cannot stop a nosebleed and we should not expect anything different this week. I am excited to see what Leftwich has in store for one of the most talented backs in the league. Kirk is the only other player on this offense that I am interested in. The 49ers are not good on defense and have been getting picked apart in their secondary. Kirk had a good outing the last time these two teams faced off and a repeat performance could happen again. Other gpp considerations go out to Chad Williams and Ricky Seals-Jones.
Cardinals Top GPP Plays: Johnson, and Kirk
Just like the Cardinals, there is not much to love on this offense either. Kittle is my 2nd favorite TE on this slate and for good reason. His connection with Beathard has been proven week in and week out to be a strong one. While I do not see the 49ers playing too well this weekend, Kittle should be one of the few bright spots on this offense. Goodwin is as much of a gpp play as it gets. He will explode or implode and it is not easy to tell which scenario will happen. I love going to Goodwin in gpps because of this reasoning. Goodwin and Bryant are basically in the same spot this week and I will give a slight advantage to Goodwin because he seems to have a slightly stronger connection with his starting QB. Mostert is a much better play if Breida sits this game out. He is an explosive playmaker and if he can find his way into being a passing down RB as well as a potential early-down back, his stock rises exponentially. Even if Breida does suit up on Sunday, there is a possible chance that he tweaks his ankle during the game and that would leave Mostert at a super low ownership, which would help climb the leaderboards if he excels in this game. Other Considerations go out to Beathard, Taylor, and Bourne.

Packers V Rams
This is the most anticipated game of this slate and the main slate as well. This game is daily fantasy gold. I firmly believe that you will need at least a few players from this game. Starting out with the Packers, Rodgers is the top QB on this slate. Every touchdown the Packers score should come from this bad man. He is an assassin and no game is too far out of reach with this guy at the helm. Rodgers will also be getting one of his starting WR back this weekend in Gerome Allison and Cobb is looking more likely that he is going to play as well. Rodgers has been exceptional without his full complement of receivers and he could easily have all of his original receivers back in the lineup this week. Adams is my favorite WR to stack with Rodgers. He has been Rodgers go-to guy this season and that should not change at all in this game. He has been the best WR on this team this year and Rodgers should be looking his way often in this game. Graham is my next top target on this offense. The Rams have been generous to TE thus far this season and there is no reason that should change in this game. Graham should play a vital part in this game and he is overall my favorite TE on this slate due to his matchup, and the expected scoring output that is being projected for this game. Allison should make his return this Sunday and will be targeted a lot in this game. Prior to his injury, Allison was playing pretty good in each of the Packers first 4 games. He is a consistent option that should produce quite well in this game. Other considerations go out to Cobb, Scandling, and Montgomery.
Packers Top Plays: Rodgers, Adams, Graham, and Allison
The best part about the Rams offense is that we know exactly where the ball is going to go for the majority of the plays on offense. To play Gurley or not to play Gurley, that is the question. The answer for me completely comes down to game theory. Gurley has by far been the best running back in the NFL this year. His usage is tremendous and it is not in question if he will have a good game, because he will. The hard part is deciding if he can outscore the top WRs’ on this slate. This game features 3 top priced WR and all three of them are capable of huge games. You can’t play Gurley and 2 of the top priced WRs’ in the same lineup unless you play punt most of your lineup. I think this is the week that Gurley will not be in the winning lineup, but with that being said I will have a good amount of exposure to him just in case the WRs’ in this game underperform. Woods is my favorite WR on this Rams offense. He has been consistent week in and week out and he is due for another great game this weekend. He should continue to see plenty of targets in this game and will be used heavily in this game. Goff is my 2nd favorite option at QB on this slate. While it is uncommon to stack a QB and his running back together, I have no problem doing it in this spot. Gurley is going to score, it is just a matter of how much and the way he finds himself crossing the goal line. He is used in the passing game and could easily score via reception. Either way, If you play Goff and Gurley together, you are almost guaranteed to lock up all the touchdowns that the Rams will score in this game. Goff also has 2 great WR on this offense to throw the ball to and should have no problem throwing for a lot of yards with at least a few touchdowns throws in this game. Lastly, Cooks rounds out the top plays for the Rams. He is a dynamic playmaker and has been used more than just streaking down the field. He has played well in all of the games that he has made it through without injury. Due to game flow and pace of this game, Cooks should see a lot of targets as well in this game and is a great option on this slate, as most people will plug and play Gurley. While there is nothing wrong with that route, in gpps I want to give myself the best chance of winning, while also making smart and logical decisions due to game theory. Other gpp considerations go out to Reynolds as a super deep gpp flier.
Rams Top Plays: Gurley, Woods, Goff, and Cooks
The Extra Point is Up…
That game finished up our afternoon delight. *My favorite defensive plays are the Cardinals, Colts, and Raiders In that order. Whether you are preparing dinner on the east coast or wrapping up lunch on the west coast. Hopefully, your main slate lineups are currently crushing and if you played the early slate it would be great to see you guys at the top of those leaderboards. Feel free to hit me up in our channels for any questions. I am almost always available to talk to. Football is my passion and I am always willing to help out as much as possible. Cash games are fairly easy in these mini slates. Don’t try to be too cute with your lineups and you will be just fine. In gpps’ you will need to have a couple low owned plays to vault you to the top of the leaderboards along with some of the chalky plays as well.
