Chris’ Afternoon Delight: Draftkings and Fanduel NFL Afternoon Slate Guide 10/21/18

Hey, my name is Chris and I will be bringing you your DFS Football “afternoon delight.” This article will be focusing on the afternoon slates each week during the NFL season. The purpose of this article will be to put you on a successful path for this slate. I will break down each game, as well as giving you my favorite plays from those games. Each week this slate will have 2 to 4 games. This means ownership will be heavily concentrated on select players, which is both good and bad to a certain extent. Most of the time in these slates you will need at least two of those chalk players in order to stay with the competition. The key to winning this slate will be to differentiate yourself in other spots in order to get yourself to the top of those large field gpps

                                                                  Saints V Ravens

Let’s kick things off with the New Orleans Saints. They have one of the best offenses in the NFL and they are going up against one of the best defenses in the league. In fact, The Ravens have not allowed any QB that they have faced this year to throw for over 300 yards in a game, and only one(Dalton) has thrown for multiple TD’s this season. Draftkings has done a great job this year pricing players according to matchups and at times, they have priced them down too far, in this case being Drew Brees. However, on FD, Brees is the 2nd most expensive QB on the slate and is a fade for me given his price and matchup. Brees has 499 touchdowns in his career and I am positive that he will get there in this game. Brees is always an option, but he ranks a little lower than some of the guys I will be talking about shortly. With Ted Ginn being placed on IR this week, this puts Cam Meredith firmly in place this week. Due to the matchup, I wouldn’t have tons of him, but he is a solid option in gpps. Alvin Kamara is a great option this week in gpps. This is because of recency bias and just how good Ingram looked the last time the Saints played. I will always try to leverage the field in the right situations and this spot feels right to me. Zeke should have the highest ownership this week among RB’s on this slate, so why not take a 15-20% chance on the of the most explosive playmakers in the NFL. Other great options include; Mark Ingram, Michael Thomas, Tre’Quan Smith and Josh Hill.

Saints Top GPP Plays: Brees, Kamara, Meredith

On the Ravens side of the ball, we want all of the players involved in the passing game. The Saints are ranked 30th in the NFL in passing yards per game and 1st in rushing yards per game. I am not one to trust my money on Flacco, but he is in an amazing spot this week. I will definitely be going wacko for Flacco this Sunday. Last week the Ravens won 21-0 and he still threw the ball 37 times. The same thing happened week 1 when the Ravens blew out the Bills. Every game in between Flacco has had at least 40 pass attempts, along with 2 games with more than 50. He is my top QB on Sunday and I will have him everywhere that I can. I don’t know about you guys, but John Brown burned me last week, so naturally, I will go right back to him in gpps. Whenever a player fails a lot of people, recency bias begins to take over because they left a bad taste in your mouth. Playing DFS is like being a professional QB, in the way that you need to have a short-term memory on certain occasions. Sure if there is a trend that keeps on occurring week in and week out then, of course, the process needs to be changed. I am willing to bet that for all of us that played Brown last week, that we were just unlucky. Between weeks 2-5, Brown averaged 10 targets per game. Michael Crabtree and Willie Snead are in fantastic spots as well. They have both been targeted a lot in every game for the past 6 weeks and have been consistent in their production week in and week out. I do not think you can go wrong with any of the passing options this week on the Ravens and if you wanted to MME this slate, I would highly suggest mixing around different double WR stacks on this offense. Other considerations go out to Buck Allen who can provide much-needed value in the RB slot this weekend and the one of the 4 TE’s that will catch a TD.

I’ll be using information found on the Research Station that xBenJamminx and CeeGee developed which can be found here for all VIP Members.

                                                                 Cowboys V Redskins

This game is fairly easy to pick our top targets from. To start things off, there is no “top play” from the Redskins side of the ball besides Jordan Reed. He is my second favorite Te on this slate. He saw 9 targets last week and should once again be the main focus of this offense this week due to the lack of depth at WR on this offense. None of the WR on the Redskins are in play for me this week as Dallas has been one of the best defenses at limiting opposing teams WR. The Cowboys defense is my favorite defense on this slate and if I had to target a running back it would be Adrian Peterson, however, if Thompson ends up playing, he does become a viable option. Vernon Davis is also in consideration as a deep gpp play. On the Cowboys, I want A lot of Ezekiel Elliot, He is in an absolute smash spot and most of my lineups on this slate will have Elliot and Gurley paired together as they Should be the two highest scoring RB’s and most likely players on this slate. His usage in this offense is on par with Gurley, he just has not produced the video game like numbers that Gurley has had.  Dak Prescott looked good last week and he is in play to leverage off of the massive ownership that Flacco should have this weekend. While I do not see Prescott getting anywhere near 300 yards passing and 3 TD’S, His ability to make plays running the ball certainly makes him a great option. Lastly, Cole Beasley is in play, not because of his stellar performance last week, although that does help. He is the only WR on this team that likes to catch more than 2 balls a game. Other considerations go out to Geoff Swaim, he is a value TE that has a good connection with Prescott.

                                                       Redskins Top GPP Plays: Reed

Cowboys Top GPP Plays; Elliot, Prescott, Beasley

                                                                     Rams V 49ers

The Rams offense has been one of if not the best offense in the NFL this season. Todd Gurley is a must, his usage is through the roof and he has been the best back this season by far. Gurley will get his yards and he will get his touchdowns, it is a fact at this point. I would personally use Gurley at 90% this week, only to give myself a “what if” injury scenario in order to take down a gpp where everybody should be playing Gurley. Robert Woods seems to be the go-to WR for this Rams offense. He is at a great price and he should be involved in this offense every week as he has proven to be consistent each week. Jared Goff has been consistent this year and is in another good spot this week. Last week, we saw Rodgers tear this defense apart, however, the main problem with Goff is how much does Gurley take away from his upside. Brandin Cooks is a great leverage play off of Woods, who should be higher owned. Cooks has not had a great season thus far, but he can turn out a big game at any time. This would be a great spot to play Cooks in gpp because of how many people will be on the high priced RB’s and other WR’s in general.  Other MME considerations go out to Josh Reynolds and Gerald Everett. On the 49ers side of the ball, my favorite play is George Kittle. He should see tons of targets this week as the Rams have been weak towards the middle of the field. His connection with Beathard is strong and should be his main target in this game. Goodwin has an incredible matchup this week against Marcus Peters. Peters is a known talented cornerback, but recently he has been giving up a lot of big plays. Goodwin only had 4 targets last week and I would not count on him repeating that same performance again this week on that amount of targets. Other gpp considerations go out to Beathard, Taylor(if he plays), Bourne(if Taylor does not play) and Breida.

Rams Top GPP Plays; Gurley, Woods, Goff, Cooks

49ers Top GPP Plays; Kittle and Goodwin

                                          The Extra Point is Up…

That game finished up our afternoon delight. *My favorite defensive plays are the Cowboys, Ravens, and Rams,  In that order*. Whether you are preparing dinner on the east coast or wrapping up lunch on the west coast. Hopefully, your main slate lineups are currently crushing and if you played the early slate it would be great to see you guys at the top of those leaderboards. Feel free to hit me up in our channels for any questions. I am almost always available to talk to. Football is my passion and I am always willing to help out as much as possible. Cash games are fairly easy in these mini slates. Don’t try to be too cute with your lineups and you will be just fine. In gpps’ you will need to have a couple low owned plays to vault you to the top of the leaderboards along with some of the chalky plays as well.
