NFL Week 1 Cash Game Breakdown - DraftKings / FanDuel

This article is going to focus on breaking down of a few DraftKing and FanDuel cash game play and lineup construction for NFL week 1 Sunday main slate.  GPPs are still a big part of my game, but the majority of my action will be cash games H2Hs each Sunday as we get a lot of volume and variance in NFL.  This article will dive into how I will approach week 1 cash and a few core plays I am looking at getting into my lineups.

DraftKings

Drew Brees – $6,800 – This is a rarity for me to pay this much for a QB as I tend to not like to go over $6000 for my QB in cash each week as its a position that the points are pretty close together from highest QB to lowest compared to other positions, however week 1 with salaries being out so early we get some said value at RB / WR that make it really easy to fit in Brees or Brady.  I have no problem going with Brady or Watson here in cash and think they are fine plays, but with Ingram being suspended these first 4 games, we might see TD equity for Brees go up.  He had a down year last year for his standards with the running game push from the Saints, but with the highest team total on the board at 29.5 points, I don’t see how 300 yards and 2 TDs from Brees is not a floor for him with 4 TD upside here.

James Conner – $4,500 – This play all hinges upon if Lev Bell is going to suit up or not week 1.  If not, Conner will be one of the most highest owned players for me in cash and GPPs and a cash lock.  Rex Burkhead @ $4,200 is also a great value and will highly owned as well, but I will still have more Conner than Burkhead, as James White is a great pivot off of Burkhead in cash.  James Conner saw pass catching work in preseason, so I think he could just slide in here and give you a tremendous floor with upside.  We will also need to check weather as we could see some 20+ MPH winds in this game which would push the ball more to screen passes and runs that would benefit Conner in this game.  Do not overthink this if Bell is out and lock him in.

Emmanuel Sanders – $5,000 – Sanders will benefit from Case Keenum under center this year for the Broncos as he likes to go to his slot WRs and Sanders took 20 of his 30 snaps in preseason week 3 (which is like a dress rehearsal for regular season) in the slot.  Sanders has also been targeted almost 4x more than Demaryius Thomas with Case Keenum under center which just solidifies why he is a good play on Sunday.

Baltimore Ravens – $3,800 – This might be the last time you see a defense in my core plays for DK cash games, but they are going to be so chalky at home playing a pathetic Bills team.  The Bills have looked bad all preseason and I don’t see how that is going to change going on the road playing one of the better defenses in the league.  Don’t get cute in cash and just plug them in.

Cash Game Approach on DK – I hate spending up on QB in cash and this might be the only week I do it with how cheap the RBs / WRs are this week so I will be looking at spending up at QB, either spend all the way up or down in the 4k range for RBs and fill in those 4 – 6k WRs who should get volume this week.

FanDuel

Drew Brees – $8,400 – Everything I said about him above still holds the same truth here on FanDuel.

David Johnson – $8,600 – I don’t think you can go wrong with Kamara or DJ on FanDuel and can see playing both with how soft pricing is here, but if you were to pick one I am leaning DJ.  He has more TD equity on this team IMO and might be lower owned than Kamara.  You can easily fit both of them in your cash teams.

Chris Hogan – $6,700 – Hogan is the play for me on FanDuel over Sanders, because I think he has more touchdown equity than Sanders.   I like both WRs this week, but will have more Hogan on FD and Sanders on DK, however I hope to be over the field on both plays.  He is going to be a chalky play here, but he is underpriced by at least $1000 on a Patriot team with a implied team total of  28.5 points just under the Saints.

Jordan Reed – $5,800 – He is an elite TE when he is healthy and usually priced in the high $6,000 range when he is healthy.  Washington RBs are beat up, hence the signing of Adrian Peterson a few weeks ago so that run game could be pretty bad, so Alex Smith will look to his stud TE in this game pretty often and this is a great price for some of the production we have seen out of him in recent years.

Baltimore Ravens – $4,800 – Same thing I said above, they are the chalk defense this week for good reason.  Just plug them into your cash games and let others make the mistake.

Cash Game Approach on FanDuel – We have enough value this week on FanDuel to play basically anyone you want.  I am leaning going top heavy at RB this week and pay for those cheap mid tier / minimum priced (Keelan Cole) WRs this week in cash to give you a nice floor.  The approach will change every week, but that is how I will looking to construct my cash lineup.
