Chris’s Afternoon Delight: Draftkings and Fanduel
NFL Afternoon Slate Guide 9/16/18

Hey, my name is Chris and I will be bringing you your DFS Football “afternoon delight.” This article will be focusing on the afternoon slates each week during the NFL season. The purpose of this article will be to put you on a successful path for this slate. I will break down each game, as well as giving you my favorite plays from those games. Each week this slate will have 2 to 4 games. This means ownerships will be heavily concentrated on select players, which is both good and bad to a certain extent. Most of the time in these slates you will need at least two of those chalk players in order to stay with the competition. They key to winning this slate will be to differentiate yourself in other spots in order to get yourself to the top of those large field gpps.

Lions Vs 49ers

This game is one of the more interesting games on this slate. The Lions were not only pummeled into the ground, but kicked while they were down too. However, there were some positives that we can take away from that game. The big one is WR Kenny Golladay, pricing was already released before the Monday night games started and Golladay comes in at a great value. Golladay saw 12 targets from Stafford and caught 7 of them for 114 yards. Against the 49ers, Golladay is in prime position to play well again. Matt Stafford will be a great gpp play here as well because of his poor performance and a lot of people will not want to use him in contest. Pairing him with either Golden Tate, who is his favorite target or Golladay will be a good way to go. Marvin Jones is another great gpp play for the lions. He didn’t do so well against the Jets and he will likely have the lowest ownership of the Lions top 3 WR’s. Jones has the capability to rack up a lot of receptions and yards and is a phenomenal gpp play. I am not a fan of any of the running backs on the Lions, committees are not something that I target and especially a committee playing for the Lions.
Lions Top Plays: Golladay, Tate, Stafford, Marvin Jones

On the 49ers side of the ball, my favorite play is George Kittle. Kittle was on the field for 91% of Garoppolo’s passes and caught 5 of 9 targets for 90 yards last week. Going up against the Lions, Kittle is looking like one of the best plays on the slate. Goodwin, is another great play but unfortunately right now his playing status is unknown due to injury. If he does end up playing his connection with Garoppolo is strong and is at a good value. If Goodwin ends up not playing, Pettis will take his spot as an outside wr and would be a great play against the Lions. Taylor comes in as a sneaky play this week in large gpp contest. Lions struggled to stop Enunwa last week in the slot. Taylor primarily plays in the slot and saw 6 targets last week while catching 4 of them. Garapollo is a decent play, not one of my favorites because Matt Breida or Alfred Morris could get into the end zone. I would lean towards Morris, to get a rushing touchdown this game.
49ers Top Plays: Kittle, Pettis/Goodwin, Taylor and Morris

Cardinals Vs Rams

This game is going to be short and sweet because there really are not many plays in this game to love. The obvious smash play is Todd Gurley, who I am extremely comfortable going all in on this slate. Gurley is going up against a team who gave up 98 yards rushing and 66 yards receiving to Adrian Peterson. Not to forget about Chris Thompson’s over 100 all-purpose yard performance as well. Gurley should and most likely will have positive game flow the entire game. The other option on this Rams offense is Cooper Kupp, when the Rams get into the red zone it is mostly Gurley or Kupp that scores the touchdown. Kupp is a safe target for Jared Goff and is a very reliable one as well. Woods and Cooks should definitely be in consideration in large field contest as well because any one of these wr can strike paydirt.
Rams Top Plays: Gurley and Kupp. Woods and Cooks are secondary options

On the Cardinals side of the ball, David Johnson, is in play on this slate due to the volume and role he should have in this game. He does have a back injury that he is dealing with and this Rams defense is not one to be messed with. Larry Fitzgerald is an interesting gpp play as he should avoid Talib and Peters because he plays in the slot. He should be peppered with targets and could easily be the gpp winning difference maker. Ricky Seals-Jones is strictly a gpp play and even at that it is extremely hard to pick him over Cook and Kittle.
Cardinals Top Plays: Johnson, Fitzgerald and Seals-Jones

Patriots Vs Jaguars

Here is another game with not much fantasy goodness in it. The Patriots defense is my favorite on this slate. With knowing that there are a few Jaguars players I am willing to target. Leonard Fournette will likely play in this game so that would force TJ Yeldon out of our player pool. However, if Fournette is out Yeldon becomes a very interesting play and one that could warrant a fade due to ownership. Dede Westbrook is my favorite play on the Jaguars as he saw the most targets from Blake Bortles last week. I am predicting the Jaguars to be behind most of this game so Westbrook should see plenty of targets. Keelan Cole is another option and people might be off him after his poor performance last week. He is always a threat for a big play and it would not surprise me if Cole had a big play in this game.
Jaguars Top Plays: Yeldon (if no Fournette), Westbrook and Cole

On the Patriots side James White becomes a great play if Burkhead ends up being held out. “Touchdown” Tom Brady is always in play and he is a qb that you do not have to stack a pass catcher with because he will throw a td to anyone on the team. Rob Gronkowski is always in play in gpp’s as he and Brady could connect for a lot of huge plays, but against this stout defense big plays will be hard to come by…relegating him to more of a gpp role instead of cash, especially in a week people are going to be paying down.  What a way, though, to be contrarian!!  Brady should be involved in most if not all of the Patriots touchdowns. Wide Receiver is a questionable spot as always with Edleman being on suspension still, but if I had to play any it would be either Dorsett or Patterson.
Patriots Top Plays: White, Brady and Gronk

Too many wins to count!  Three over $20,000 alone.  From small slates to large, showdowns to primetimes, cash to gpps, DFS Army continues to dominate the leaderboards.  You can find the biggest on our Wall of Wins, and specifically read DBarlow’s $250k story —> HERE!

Raiders Vs Broncos

The Broncos are slowly becoming one of my favorite offenses in DFS. It has only been one week, but if they keep on playing like they did last week they will feature many of my favorite plays every week. Emmanuel Sanders is my favorite WR on the slate once again as he should see a lot of targets once again this week. He looks to be Case Keenum’s favorite target and I am sure he will get fed again in this game. Kupp did well last week playing out of the slot against the Raiders on Monday night and Sanders should do well again as he will be playing the majority of the snaps from the slot position. Thomas had his fair share of targets (10) last week and had a great game. There are a few double stacking scenarios on this slate that make sense in this slate one of them being DeMaryius Thomas and Sanders and the other in any of the two Lions WR’s listed above. Since both Sanders and Thomas are on my radar, Keenum is another one of my favorite QB’s on this slate. He is the cash QB on this slate and is an extremely safe option this week. Royce Freeman and Lindsay are almost coin flip plays as I can see either one of them having a solid game. If I had to lean one way or the other, I would side with Lindsay because he is a more dynamic player that is featured in the passing game.
Broncos Top Plays: Sanders, Keenum, Thomas, Lindsay and Freeman

As for the Raiders there really is not much to love besides Cook. Jared Cook was Carr’s go to guy last week and should be in this game again as the Broncos are similar to the Rams in that they both have a great line and a good secondary. Last week the Broncos gave up 105 yards and a touchdown to a TE that I am sure most people have never heard of before and with the amount of volume that Cook got last week he is definitely in play and will be very chalky. Marshawn “Just Here So I Don’t Get Fined” Lynch is another option on this Raiders offense because if he gets to the goaline he will get in and score. When Beast Mode is activated he is one of the hardest guys to bring down in the NFL.  Amari Cooper is a large field gpp play, but I personally do not trust him to do much of anything in this game. However, if he can get involved early and often and have a good game it will boost you in front of the competition because he will be low owned.
Raiders Top Plays: Cook, Lynch and Cooper

The Extra Point Is Up…….

That game finished up our afternoon delight. My favorite defensive plays are the Broncos, Patriots and Rams. Whether you are preparing dinner on the east coast or wrapping up lunch in the west coast. Hopefully your main slate lineups are currently crushing and if you played the early slate it would be great to see you guys at the top of those leaderboards. Feel free to hit me up in slack for any questions. I am almost always available to talk to. Football is my passion and I am always willing to help out as much as possible. Cash games are fairly easy in these mini slates. Don’t try to be too cute with your lineups and you will be just fine. In gpp’s you will need to have a couple low owned plays to vault you to the top of the leaderboards along with some of the chalky plays as well.
