Free Preview of Donuts' NBA DFS Positional Breakdown - FanDuel and DraftKings - Feb 6th

It happened again, I can’t make this up. We had another $100,000 winner Monday night:

We’ve had eleven different winners of $50,000 – $250,000 over the past several months, including another $50,000 winner this on FanDuel! Life is good for our members and we’ve seen a 100% growth in the company and upped our staff to 25 strong, handsome, and brilliant members (massive embellishment there). It’s been quite a ride and the beautiful thing is that we have another three months of the NBA season to consistently grow our bankroll until MLB is here. Slow and steady wins the race as far as bankroll goes and that will be important for today’s slate of games.

You can read about them HERE at our Wall of Fame!

This column is an NBA and MLB daily article that we offer for our members. It’s full of relevant statistics, trends, analytics and analysis to get the DFS juices flowing nice and early in the morning. The plays and opinions, including specific GPP strategy, is broken down in detail in Slack chat by our 5-NBA DFS Coaches who all submit daily Slack notes close to lock time so that our members have up to the minute injury analysis.

Enjoy the fruits of my labor!

PG
Russell Westbrook – He’s scored 66.5, 64.2, 36.1, and 65.5 FanDuel points against the Warriors in their last four meetings. He clearly brings the hurt of Durant leaving when he plays them and “Angry Russ” will likely be in full display.

At just $11,800 on FanDuel, he comes at quite the bargain amidst the plethora of elite options on Tuesday’s slate. In GPPs, I see no reason not to build around Westy and fill in with value from such games as the Cavs and Magic or the Suns and Lakers. However, in cash games, I worry about the elite offense of the Warriors just blowing the doors open and limiting Westy’s minutes if the game gets out of hand.

The Thunder have allowed opposing teams to score 108-plus points in 8 of the last 9 games against much inferior opponents compared to the Warriors. I don’t like predicting blowouts but I think the potential for one is high enough for me to be worried about Russ in cash games.

Isaiah Thomas – He’s clearly struggling to find his role within the Cavs offense. That being said, his matchup with the Magic is about as delicious as it gets. Over the last 10-games, the Magic have allowed opposing point guards to score on 47% of their field goal attempts, which is currently an issue for IT2. In the last game against the Magic a few weeks ago, Thomas scored 34.60 FanDuel points and looked sharp.

His usage rate has been higher than 24.62% in every single game this year and he’s still only priced in the mid-6k price range on both FanDuel and DraftKings. His shot is bound to start falling soon and if it does in this game we could be looking at a solid 40-45 point fantasy outcome. He’s going to be one of my top GPP plays, specifically for large field tournaments, on the entire slate.

SG
Klay Thompson –
A good way to grab exposure to the highest total on the board and on the team with a ridiculous 120.0 point implied total is to use Klay Thompson in cash games. He’s priced fairly in the mid-6k range on FanDuel and DraftKings and has a superb ceiling.

Normally I don’t like to use Klay because his ceiling is capped because of the primary scorers on this team, however, the Thunder have been wretched without Andre Roberson on defense and Klay should have plenty of opportunities to expose the Thunder from the outside.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope – He won’t be the easiest cash game shooting guard to roster but he certainly is in a good spot to hit value. The Suns have allowed opposing shooting guards to score 38.6 PPG (actual real life points) over the last 10-games which is 5.1 points more than any other team. They also have allowed oSG to make 4.8 three pointers per game (most in the league) and have allowed opposing shooting guards to steal the ball 3.8 times per game which is a full 1.1 times more than any other team in the league. Just to sweeten the pot, opposing shooting guards have scored an average total of 73.1 FanDuel PPG (18.1 points more than the second worst team, the Golden State Warriors at 55.0).

All of those numbers are just pure insanity but also align with just how bad the Suns have been all year to opposing shooting guards (last in the league in virtually every statistical category over the course of the season) and they just happen to be getting worse on a historic level.

KCP has tremendous upside at his current FD and DK price tags. I will discuss at length what to do with the rest of the Lakers roster, including our best friend, Jordan Clarkson, on our members only 1 on 1 coaches pre-game Slack Notes. Join up if you want the pro’s player pools and strategy for each slate!

SF
Josh Jackson – Over the last four games, Jackson has had a usage rate of 31.4%, 26.7%, 32.4%, and 34.3%. Without Booker, his usage rate sits at a healthy 35% over the last month.

His price has been increased to a level where he isn’t the safest player to be choosing at that value which means he is best used for GPPs. His matchup with the Lakers should be a high-scoring affair with very sloppy play and lots of scoring. Jackson has a tremendous ceiling with elite usage at a mid-tier price tag.

Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about the dozen other premier plays, along with identifying those options I will provide specific designations as to what to use them in and what type of strategy to take if fading the chalk. There are also a couple very troubling issues some teams will have tonight with rest and travel concerns that could leave them looking like they’re playing with weights around their ankles. There is massive GPP appeal in those games and I cannot wait to break those down.

I’ll update my NOTES later in SLACK based on news cycle and do my “cash game” list again with an asterisk next to my cash game core to build around.

Best of luck,
