NFL Cash Plays for Week 12
Cash plays aren’t always as easy to identify as one might think. Sometimes they are buried in perceived difficult matchup or poor implied team total (ITT). There are various mitigating factors that go into deciding who is cash viable and who is a better option for GPPs. Each week I will lay out a handful of cash viable options for you at each position that will allow you to create your own path. Our goal will be to find high floor players that carry upside.

Quarterback
Russell Wilson continues to shoulder the offensive load for the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks have an implied team total of 26.0 points and are 6.5 point favorites on the road as they visit the San Francisco 49ers.
Wilson has scored more than 25 points on FanDuel in four of the last five weeks and six of the last eight. He’s had four games of 29.6 FanDuel points or more in those eight games. Those are slate winning numbers with a massive floor for cash games. He’s the ideal play for our ladder system (our bankroll investment strategy of how to have the biggest ROI possible with contest selection and roster construction).
This is a position I don’t plan on getting cute with on both FanDuel and DraftKings. Wilson is a lock for me.
Jacoby Brissett is definitely not someone you’d think of as cash viable, but hear me out. In his last six games that he’s played that wasn’t against the Seattle Seahawks or Jacksonville Jaguars, he’s averaged 18.95 FanDuel points and nearly 20.0 DraftKings points per game.
He might not have the highest ceiling but does a surprisingly good job protecting the football and has scored three rushing touchdowns in those six games. Those two things combine to keep his floor decently high. He’s affordable on both FD and DK and offers us a cheap alternative at quarterback for cash games.
I believe the Titans and Colts game is very sneaky for DFS purposes and will likely be a game to attack in GPPs due to ownership and pricing.
Running Back
Tevin Coleman hasn’t done anything special over the past two weeks but he’s been given a hefty workload. He’s received 21 touches in both of the last two games and has scored a rushing touchdown in each game.
He’s priced affordably on both FanDuel and DraftKings due to the thought that Devonta Freeman was going to return, but he has since been ruled out, making Coleman an easy plug and play for cash games.
The Falcons have an implied team total of 29.0 points and are favored by 9.5 points as they host the struggling Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Coleman will be highly owned in cash and rightfully so.
Dion Lewis is surprisingly consistent over the last few weeks. Mike Gillislee is all but out of the rotation as he has been inactive the past two games, leaving more touches for Lewis, who the Patriots obviously trust the most.
The Patriots have a 32.0 point implied team total and are 16.0 point favorites over the visiting Miami Dolphins. I am not going to overthink this one. The Patriots will need to score to put this game out of hand and Lewis has been getting red zone touches and about 15’sh combined carries and receptions per game. Yes, please!
Le’Veon Bell is due for a huge game and the Steelers could provide him that opportunity in Week 12 with a home matchup against the reeling Green Bay Packers. The Steelers are 14.0 point home favorites and have a 28.0 point implied team total, which should lead to a tremendous game script for Bell.
He’s the ideal running back for our ladder strategy, which I previously mentioned above for Russell Wilson. The duo could easily combine for 60-points and start off a lineup in a great position to cash out.
For our VIP members, when we use our ladder strategy (a conceptual investment strategy of how to invest our DFS bankroll weekly and in what contests to do so) we attempt to build our lineups with players that are considered to provide safety with a ceiling.
Wide Receiver
Demaryius Thomas continues to be targeted heavily in the red zone and has scored a touchdown in three straight games. He’s scored 17.0, 12.9, and 14.9 points in each of the last three games with FanDuel scoring.
Sammy Watkins will be the de facto primary wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams, as Robert Woods, his ex-Bills counterpart, is out with an injury.
The Rams get to face the Saints in the Superdome without their top two cornerbacks in Week 12. Watkins should pick up a few extra targets and has the talent and speed to take one to the house on any given play. He’s likely a better GPP target due to his role and talent, but because of his pricing he is someone I don’t mind saving salary with for cash games.
Jarvis Landry has turned into a great red zone option for the Miami Dolphins and it has not really mattered who’s been at quarterback either. The Dolphins likely will get toasted by the Patriots but that should allow Landry to soak up plenty of garbage time points.
Landry has scored a touchdown in five of the last six games and is a fantastic cash game option, albeit a bizarre one as he is playing for a team that is a 16.0 point underdog.
Brandin Cooks looks like a fantastic play in every format in Week 12. The Patriots receivers are ailing, as usual, and Cooks looks healthy as can be. The Dolphins are likely going to roll over for the Pats’ and Cooks has a tremendous ceiling. I don’t think it’s worth using Tom Brady this week with Russell Wilson so cheap still, but it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t target his pass catchers and reap the benefits of having a few pieces on a team with a 32.0 point implied team total.
