Kickers Corner
Sorry for not having the defense article out for this week. With the holiday and my day job, it has been a crazy week. I will be back to normal next week, but in the meantime please enjoy everything you will need for kickers. There is going to be a lot of great options this week and with no more byes, we never have to miss out on our favorite kickers again.
Before the Pick Research
I love to play on Fanduel and one of those reasons is that I believe that the Kicker gives us an advantage. So many people roster whatever cheap kicker they can place. About as much thought goes into who they play kicker as they do who’s the boss. The best thing is, the Kicker might be one of the easiest spots to select. If you want to know what I look for in selecting a kicker I have you covered in my How to Pick a Kicker to find out.

For a quick refresher remember these tips
- Teams expected to score over 24 points and favored to win preferably at home.
- Teams who play indoors or where the weather is not an issue.
- Kickers who can actually kick the ball from distance with high accuracy.
- forget about the price, and focus on the skill.
The main reason we want to focus on everything but ignore the price is that no other position on your roster will have more chance to return points based on the difference in salary. Top priced kickers are 5100, the bottom price is 4500. Many top options will fall into the 4700 range, that means for 200 more you could easily grab a 15 point kicker whereas the 4500 guys may only be good for 8.

Cash Kickers
Cash kickers will be kickers who can score us a solid 8-10 points. If they get more that is great, but we really need that safety floor just like any other roster spot. This could be 1 FG and 3 XP or it could be all FGs. To find these we will strictly follow the rules laid out above.
- Graham Gano
- Wil Lutz
- Chris Boswell
Graham Gano
This is a place where we would normally not look for cash. Gano is 4900, which is a high cost for a kicker that does not check all of our normal boxes for cash. As a 5+ point favorite, but the team only has a 22 implied total. Gano has been doing a solid job of hitting 10 points and this weekends match is a perfect spot to continue that streak. I do not like him for big points, but I do like him for safety.
Wil Lutz
“I say 10 points, you say floor. Ten points…FLOOR, 10-points…FLOOR! Lutz is a 10-point machine. If you want to know that you are bringing home a safe kicker you simply roster Lutz. The problem is that 10 points are not really something we want for GPP. Lutz is bound to have a big week sooner or later and that will always keep him interesting.” This was last weeks explanation on Lutz and he finally had that big 17 point game. This is a matchup against a Rams team that can bring out the best of Lutz. I personally am going to expect the normal 10 point game. Has basically been a cash safe play for the whole season. Gpp winning quality two times.
Chris Boswell
Boswell has not been having a big season. With the struggles coming from Pitt this season it is not a shock that Boswell has been used less. Last week we got to see Pitt really bring themselves into the game. Boswell put up a 19 point beasting against TEN. This week Pitt brings their game at home against GB. Pitt is a 14 point favorite with an implied total of 28.5. This should be a great spot for Boswell where his biggest risk is he does not get many FG attempts.
Hybrid Plays
If you are not sure why a hybrid play is I suggest checking out a Geek Favorite to understand what I am talking about. A quick breakdown, however, is these are players who carry a little more risk for more upside. This is an area where we can kind of skip some of the rules or interpret them our own way.
- Greg Zuerlein
- Stephen Gostkowski
- Jake Elliott
- Ryan Succop
Greg Zuerlein
I said do not go all in with Zuerlein and that was the right call to make as he was sadly not used. LAR finally found themselves not able to use their offense or their defense to boost Zuerlein. This week we get a bounce back week against NO while at home. This game is looking like a big scoring game and The Leg is back in action.
Stephen Gostkowski
With more than two touchdowns favored, I am not sure if there is ever a better spot to test out the kicker water. Gostkowski just had a big 20-point game to show he still has what it takes to win a GPP. This is another week where Zuerlein should find himself looking at big point scores. Might be top play of the week.
Jake Elliot
Stack Elliot with Philly defense and watch the points climb for both of them. Elliot has been a pretty solid kicker all week, but it does require Philly to stop with their offense. Elliot should have a big game as long as the DST has a big game.
Ryan Succop
Succop gives us that sweet 4800 priced kicker. I do not know about you but I am excited about this matchup for so many reasons. Succop should find himself in the position to kick the ball for the whole game. I do not think that this game will go blow out and one of the things that makes Succop so good in DFS is his ability to get volume.
GPP Kickers
This group of kickers may score you 0 points but they offer the upside of 20 points if things go your way. These are the guys you may only play if you are going MME and looking to be different. They are also the kickers who may win you that 30,000 person contest. Of course, they are also the same ones who could lose it for you. RISK BE WARNED!
- Matt Bryant
- Harrison Butker
- Randy Bullock
These kickers are risky. Each offers something that I see where we could end up with a great score. For more on that join me in Slack and let’s talk about them together.
