Week 6 Aftermath Report – Looking Back to Move Forward by UW81
*Reminder this is a focus on Head to Head matchups only. 3m, 6m, 10m, and Dream Team have a different set of strategies.
For this series, we’ll be comparing the top options that we had going into the Sun-Mon slates vs. reality, how it affected our strategies in the previous week, and what it’ll change going forward.

QB: Our top three picks past week were Watson, Rodgers, and Brady. Rodgers and Brady are generally our consistent workhorses and QB where we can usually guarantee a solid floor. However, you can’t predict injuries.
| QB | Projected |
Actual |
| Watson | 21.14 | 24.3 |
| Rodgers | 22.5 | 0.72 |
| Brady | 22.94 | 17.18 |
Watson was my top recommendation on the slate and he came through near expected. My #2 however, went down with a season-ending injury, which was super unfortunate for both my home state team (Packers) and all types of DFS. Where I personally drafted him, I lost 90% of my match ups. That’s how it goes some weeks. Again, while there were other QBs that scored higher this week (Cousins @ 28.8 comes to mind) it’s not like they were estimated to be a top 3 QB this week. Keep in mind exactly two QBs get picked in a H2H and out of the over 50 H2H I ran, no one picked anyone else outside of these three.
Thoughts on QB moving into Week 7: Watson is on bye, Rodgers is out for the season, Brady is playing a lackluster game, Chiefs and Raiders are off the slate for Sun-Mon. We’ll be doing a more in-depth look into QB and how it’ll affect our drafting strategy for this week in our VIP article.
RB: Our top three picks were Hunt, Fournette, and Bell. The uber chalk RB of the week with the difficult matchup on paper turned out not to be matchup proof like we all hoped. However, the tried and true match up stud impressed exceeding our projections.
|
RB |
Projected |
Actual |
| Hunt | 20.34 | 13.5 |
| Fournette | 17.89 | 20.8 |
| Bell | 18.49 | 26.6 |
| Gordon | 15.97 | 31.5 |
| Gurley | 17.99 | 12.5 |
| Freeman | 16.88 | 8.9 |
When picking second and assuming Hunt was picked first (nearly always was), the Fournette/Bell or F/Gordon combo worked out really well this week. I wasn’t a huge fan of Gurley in Week 6 and Freeman had all the stars aligning for a solid pick on paper, but ultimately there was no need in a H2H to reach down for him.
WR: Welcome to the dumpster fire of the week. There’s not much else to say about it.
| WR | Projected | Actual |
| Hopkins | 15.58 | 8.9 |
| Jones | 14.55 | 1.2 |
| Brown | 15.53 | 25.5 |
| Nelson | 13.51 | 9 |
| Thomas | 13.6 | 2.6 |
| Allen | 12.38 | 7 |
Hopkins was my top recommendation as he’s a target monster and Watson’s favorite target. There was a lot of talk in Slack on the weekend of how Cleveland’s secondary has shut down WR1s and through this week it was true as well. Also in Slack we discussed how Jones was looking like he wasn’t going to be a solid WR1 anymore and it looks like that analysis has held true. Shoot the messenger here, but I was not a fan of Brown in Week 6 and one of my recommendations was to let your opponent stack Bell and Brown if they wanted to since you could pivot to other solid choices in week 6. It worked in the first 5 weeks of the season but in week 6 they combined for 52.1 points. It was really one of those weeks where if you didn’t have Brown, you probably didn’t do very well.
