Good Afternoon! Today is the first day of this NBA season that we really have to pay attention and think about the decisions we want to make concerning the way we construct our lineups. Injury news is out there for us, unfortunately, there is no guarantee that we will get it before the 7pm ET lock since most of it has to do with games that happen later in the night.
Tonight there are a ton of tournaments around the industry for us to take advantage off. For those that are part of the DFS Army VIP Slack community, you probably have heard my rant on the ridiculous pricing at FanDuel.
I will be building my normal 3-5 lineups over there tonight. For me, it’s fitting the guys that I think can boost up whichever pairing of Russell Westbrook, James Harden, and Anthony Davis in my lineups. As of right now, I believe since Westbrook is the most expensive, he will be lowest owned. Until his price get’s to 13k and stays there, he is an auto play in 75% of my lineups minimum. Anthony Davis has achieved the 60 FDP threshold 3 out of 4 games. The only one he didn’t was against the Spurs. Throw it out. He again is below 11k and makes a great pairing with Tim Frazier who for some reason can’t get above 5500. This is a guy that has done nothing but exceed 40 FDP in 3 out of 4 games.
Until FanDuel fixes their pricing on these guys that are priced like backups, then we will continue to see high ownership on them and high cash lines. I don’t buy into the fact that the sites want to see higher cash lines because NBA is the highest scoring DFS sport anyways so that doesn’t make any sense. What it is doing is basically deciding half of our roster for us before we even get into the research. So, now more than ever, lock down on a core group. I love the game theory side of DFS a lot, so here’s my take on tonight’s game theory. Roster some dual combo of Westbrook, Harden and Davis, and then go from there. There is enough value out there tonight that you can easily fit 2 into your roster. Until the pricing is fixed, there is no need to even try a balanced lineup because even though the ownership will be lower, it won’t have the upside in there when we have value options at or below 5000 that are capable of putting up 40+ FDP.
So Yesterday I let you know that I would begin to bring out the “highlighter magic” again starting today and I’m not going to disappoint! I’m going to change up the meaning of them this year so it’s a little easier to decide between guys to put into cash or tournaments.
GREEN: My favorite plays of the night. These are guys that I am building my rosters around.
YELLOW: Value options that are safe for both Cash Games and tournaments. When it comes to Value. I don’t really discreminate between the two types of games. These are guys that I feel are going to be highly owned across the sites no matter the game type.
BLUE: These are players that I believe are very capable of giving you a fantastic breakout game at low ownership for tournaments. These are also guys that no matter what their price is, could completely bomb and not pay off their salary. As Kevin would say, these are NOT SAFE FOR CASH! (NSFC)
