Good Afternoon! Before we get started with the fun that is going to be a great Friday night in NBA DFS, I am going to take this time to say thank you to all of our Veterans out there today. I was raised a military brat with both of my parents being retired Air Force. Growing up in Colorado Springs I know first hand the impact and sacrifice that not only our military goes through, but also their families. I am honored to be the son, nephew, grandson and great grandson of Veterans and never take for granted the sacrifice that has been made to make this country great. I encourage you, to take a moment out of your day and just say thank you to anyone that you may know that has served.
OKAY! So now that we’ve taken a moment to honor our Veterans, let’s get to the business at hand and have some fun!
There are a couple things I want to point out. First, is the use of proper bankroll management. We KNOW the importance of this because of the situation that happened the other night with the Dallas Mavericks. This is a situation that we need to pay attention to going forward with some of these teams that like to sit players. Even more so when they are going up against teams that they are either large favorites, or underdogs.
The second is that roster construction on a daily basis is always a puzzle. What I mean by that is there is no sure fire way to build a successful roster. I always start out by trying to find value options I like at every position. At least two. I look at every game in a vacuum. It makes it a lot easier to not have any bias when looking at matchups. Tonight, for example, there is only one option at PG that I like that I would consider value. It’s Marcus Smart. When Jaylen Brown was benched starting the the second Smart was the guy that saw the biggest boost. He see’s good minutes regardless, but the Celtics are trying to get back to their defensive ways that have escaped them at the beginning of this season. I am going to mix in and out the combo of Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, and John Wall with the combo of Jeff Teague and Smart. There can be a lot to say about the “price-tag” of Westbrook. Which we have seen go down this season so far. I am beginning to see all over the industry people “getting cute” and advising you to “fade Westbrook” because you “don’t need him”. Where I agree there is always an argument for fading anyone, before you make that decision I think you need to ask yourself one question first. If I fade Russell, where am I going to spend the savings and is that actually going to help get me over the top in tournaments? You shouldn’t just be thinking about players that you are putting in your lineups, but also about the decisions of those players you are no putting in and why. It should be apart of your process. You should know why you are making decisions on players, and if your reasoning is just because he’s the highest priced player on the board, I urge you to find another reason. You should have a “why” along with the decisions you make on a nightly basis.
LET’S GET THAT MONEY ARMY!
GREEN: My Core. My favorite plays of the night. These are guys that I am building my rosters around.
YELLOW: Value options that are safe for both Cash Games and tournaments. When it comes to Value. I don’t really discriminate between the two types of games. These are guys that I feel are going to be highly owned across the sites no matter the game type.
BLUE: These are players that I believe are very capable of giving you a fantastic breakout game at low ownership for tournaments. These are also guys that no matter what their price is, could completely bomb and not pay off their salary. As Kevin would say, these are NOT SAFE FOR CASH! (NSFC)
