DFS Army’s Kickers Corner
Week six has passed us by, and it has left me in a little bit of a DFS hangover. This last weekend was a great one for me, giving me winnings in every slate I entered. I even had a sweat in every slate ending with a fun little sweat with the prime time slate. As we turn into week seven we will need to keep focused, and do so with some very interesting match ups. Between teams on byes, teams playing Thursday and Monday, and teams playing in England we have even less to choose from. This week I will be pretty much focusing all of my picks on just one kicker, and if you want to know who that is you will need to keep reading.
Review of Week 5
| From the List | Players not on the list | ||||
| Gostkowski | 6 | Hopkins | 16 | ||
| Bryant | 11 | Bailey | 14 | ||
| Santos | 13 | Hauschka | 13 | ||
| McManus | 13 | Succop | 13 | ||
| Lambo | 7 | Catanzaro | 11 | ||
| Sturgis | 11 | Dawson | 11 | ||
| Franks | 7 | ||||
| Zuerliein | 9 | ||||
| Novak | 8 | ||||
This was a low scoring week for kickers in general. Hauschka, Tucker, and Vinatieri were all solid from our list. Zuerlein was a bit of a disappointment, but at least it was because the Rams were playing to well to need him. This bodes well for us using him going forward…we will just have to wait a few weeks to be able to use him on the main slate.
Recap
There were no kickers with more than 13 points, and there were a lot of options that would get you there or close. Vinatieri was still his sexy self, and will be a great play almost any week. One thing to note is Baliey seems to be back to himself so he will be falling off of our fade list. Another player will be coming off our fade list as well, so keep reading to find out who!
Player to Long Term Fade
Boswell is getting a short term release from my Fade list for this match up, but make sure to check out the notes for more on this. I do not want you to just blindly spot him in since he is still not a lock like he was last year.
Janikoski is STILL NOT A PLAYER TO TARGET. Did you play Janikoski, even though I told you not too? Well I hope you didn’t since he was good for 5 points. FADE HIM. Fade him every week. Sure he will hit here and there, BUT FADE HIM.
Short Term Fade
Bailey is on bye, and then he will be off the fade list. I am surprised to see how he went from being close to being sat down for injury, to making kicks like there is no issue. That with the way Dallas has been running so well means we shouldn’t wait to use him any more.
This fade might be the hardest one on me, but Gano is going on my short term fade list. He is not getting kicks from long distances, he is not making those few he does get, and his numbers are way down. Between the Def getting softer and the offense having its own struggles, Gano becomes too pricey of a risk for my taste.
Quick How to Pick a Kicker
- Pick kickers on teams who are favored to win or be in close high scoring games.
- Focus on kickers who have the ability to kick with high accuracy from long ranges.
- Find kickers who are in domes or where weather is not an issue.
- Worry about price last, focus on ability to score points first.
