DFS Army’s Kickers Corner

It is finally October, which is and has always been one of my favorite months.  It is apple season, which is one of two of my favorite fruits, football season has finally gotten under full swing, and the heat has finally left just enough to make going outside great.  Hopefully you are excited that we have hit October also, and more importantly hopefully you are picking the right kicker.  Lets take a look at how we did last week before we get into week five.

Review of Week 3

I never thought I would see the NE Patriots get shut out at home, but that happened.  Sadly that make Gost a very expensive goose egg last week.  I am not going to worry to much about that since we have the BIG MAN TOM BRADY coming back to grace us with his presence, and a fully inflated ball.  Overall last week was a bit of a bust for kickers if you were focused on the main slate.  The best was a 14 point cap from Bryant from the pod cast.  I guess I have to give boomersdaddy the props on making that call right.  I stand behind my fade, but I do so wearing a dress…not really no one wants to see that.

Recap

I nailed the 8 point kicker in week 4.  There were not a lot of kickers who went over 10 points who were actually on the main slate, and if you played Thursday-Monday you hopefully had Nugent or at least Myers.  Regardless the week was not a complete bust on 10 point goes as Novak did what I was hoping for and got a solid 12 points.

Player to Fade

Boswell will once again stay on my fade list thanks to the offense moving the ball so well, and only looking better.  I also am going to add a note on Bailey.  Apparently the man has been hurt for the last 2 weeks with a back injury.  This is important to keep track of if we want to use him going forward.  Bailey has missed 2 kicks in 2 weeks which is incredibly high miss rate for him, and could be coming from the back injury. Soft fade until we know more about the back.

Quick How to Pick a Kicker

  • Pick kickers on teams who are favored to win or be in close high scoring games.
  • Pick kickers who have the ability to kick with high accuracy from long ranges.
  • Pick kickers who are in domes or where weather is not an issue.
  • Worry about price last, focus on ability to score points first.
