NHL Building Blocks for October 27
In this article, we spotlight today’s top NHL DFS studs and stack recommendations, focusing on high-upside players and synergistic line combinations that can elevate your lineups. Whether you’re targeting cash games or GPPs, these picks are designed to maximize value and exposure. Let’s dive into the matchups and identify the key players to target.
SKATERS
Center: Sebastian Aho
Aho has been producing consistently, with 18 points (7 goals, 11 assists) through 13 games and four points across his last two outings. He had two assists in Carolina’s 4–0 win over St. Louis on Saturday, then gets a Boston team that has been playing well defensively. The matchup isn’t an easy one, but Aho’s role across Carolina’s top power-play unit and his steady production keep him in consideration.
Other: Jack Eichel, Jack Hughes
Winger: Kirill Kaprizov
Kaprizov is on an absolute tear, adding a goal and two assists in Sunday’s 4–2 win over Vancouver. That gives him 21 points (13 goals – which leads the league – and eight assists) through 13 games, and he’s scored in consecutive games while continuing to generate chances at a high rate. Utah is next, and his combination of goal-scoring and playmaking gives him one of the strongest ceilings on the slate.
Other: Mark Stone, David Pastrnak

Defense: Rasmus Dahlin
Dahlin is still playing huge minutes for Buffalo, logging 27:20 in Saturday’s loss to Washington and putting three shots on goal with an assist. He has five points through eight games, so the offensive production hasn’t quite matched his workload yet. San Jose offers a chance to change that, and Dahlin’s heavy ice time and power-play responsibilities give him a path to a strong night even if he doesn’t find the scoresheet multiple times.
Other: Quinn Hughes, Matthew Schaefer
Goalie: Jake Oettinger
Oettinger earned his sixth win of the season Sunday, stopping 17 of 20 shots in Dallas’ 6–3 victory over the Islanders. He’s now 6–1 with a 1.43 goals-against average and three shutouts, although the 85% save percentage in his latest start was a reminder that he can give up goals even when Dallas wins. New Jersey is a capable offensive team, but Oettinger’s overall results and the Stars’ five-game winning streak make him a strong option.
Other: Jesper Wallstedt, Jeremy Swayman
Value: Arseny Gritsyuk
Gritsyuk has been a productive value option, recording a goal and two assists in Saturday’s 3–1 win over Los Angeles. He now has nine points (six goals and three assists) with goals in three straight games and points in four consecutive outings. His ice time can fluctuate, so I wouldn’t treat him as a lock, but the recent finishing touch makes him an appealing salary-saving play against Dallas.
Other: Oliver Kapanen, Trevor Connelly

STACKS
Full: CAR (Aho-Svechnikov-Ehlers-Blake)
This group has plenty of power-play appeal, with all four forwards listed on Carolina’s top unit. Aho enters with 18 points, while Blake has been creating offense as a playmaker and Svechnikov and Ehlers add finishing ability. Boston is a tough opponent, especially given its recent defensive results, but I like the combination of Aho’s puck distribution and the scoring upside around him. It’s worth noting these four aren’t currently listed on the same even-strength line, so the stack relies more on shared power-play exposure than line correlation. Additionally, the Hurricanes are averaging close to four and a half goals per game over their last 10 contests.
Other: DAL (Robertson-Hintz-Rantanen-Johnston), FLA (Reinhart-M. Tkachuk-B. Tkachuk-Bennett)
Mini: VGK (Eichel-Stone)
Stone and Eichel have combined for 26 points, including 12 goals, over their last 10 games, making this one of the hottest two-man combinations to target. Stone’s hat trick against Calgary highlighted his finishing upside, while Eichel brings the playmaking and shot volume to keep this pairing dangerous. Ottawa is the opponent, and with both players capable of contributing at even strength and on the power play, I like the ceiling here.
Other: MIN (Kaprizov-Hughes), MTL (Caufield-Slafkovsky)
