At least a handful of times every year, the chalk will smash and the Milly Maker winner will be less contrarian than normal; That was certainly the case here with there being a lot of chalk with popular plays like Dowdle, Jacobs, and JSN in the lineup, but it still went off the board in a few spots. Let’s see what won the $1,000,000 on Draftkings in this NFL Week 6 Milly Maker Review.

Week 6 Points
D Maye 27.24
J Jacobs 32
K Williams 16.7
J Smith-Njigba 33.2
G Pickens 34.8
K Boutte 26.3
M Mayer 16
R Dowdle 36.9
Colts DST 4
Total 227.14

This lineup was correlated with a primary stack of Drake Maye and Boutte and a secondary stack of Rico Dowdle and George Pickens from the Dallas and Carolina game. This was the 2nd week in a row that Rico was in a game stack in the milly maker winning lineup.

$1,000,000 Milly Maker Ownership

Week 6 Ownership
D Maye 12.02%
J Jacobs 29.77%
K Williams 23.72%
J Smith-Njigba 25.22%
G Pickens 9.51%
K Boutte 1.21%
M Mayer 4.85%
R Dowdle 37.56%
Colts DST 13.73%
Total DST 157.59%

This lineup showed how you can have a chalky core of players stacked with a few contrarian players and take down a large field GPP; We’ve found from studying years’ of winning lineups that wide receiver chalk fails at a high rate, so taking some chances on contrarian wide receivers is normally a sharp strategy. The difference makers were mainly Pickens at 9% and Boutte at 1%.

Top Leverage Plays

George Pickens at 9%

Pickens was thought to be chalk early on in the week, but when we flipped the cards over, he was only 9% owned. He delivered 34.8 fantasy points off of the chalk wide receivers in this range that failed.

Kayshon Boutte at 1%

Boutte was direct leverage off of chalk Stefon Diggs who failed at his $5800 price tag and 17% ownership.

Michael Mayer at 4.8%

A value tight end with Bowers out who was able to hit over 5x his salary at 4% ownership.

Pricing and Value from the Milly Maker Contest

Week 6 Pricing FPTS Per Dollar
D Maye $5,900 4.61x
J Jacobs $7,300 4.38x
K Williams $6,300 2.65x
J Smith-Njigba $7,600 4.36x
G Pickens $6,800 5.11x
K Boutte $3,800 6.92x
M Mayer $3,100 5.16x
R Dowdle $5,800 6.36x
Colts DST $3,300 1.21x
Total $49,900 4.55x

This lineup had a good balance between mid priced players and some cheap leverage plays that really hit 5-6x their salary. There wasn’t a single player above 8K in the lineup but it had 4 players over 6K, 2 over 7K, and a pay up at Defense with the Colts at $3300. Dowdle was again the top performer in back to back weeks with over 6X his salary and 36.9 Fantasy points. Boutte was actually the best value at 6.92X his salary.

Ceiling

With 227.14 points, this was definitely on the lower end of Milly Maker winner scores but that’s not too surprising with the rash of chalk injuries that hit the slate. Puka was 30% owned and Egbuka was 25% owned and they both left the game early due to injury and scored less than 5 FPTS. Anytime you have players that highly owned that massively fail – injury or performance – it’s typically going to be a lower scoring week as it was in week 6. What separate this lineup from the rest of the field was hitting the right leverage receivers and sticking to under priced bell cows at running backs – something that we see win the Milly Maker time and time again.
