DFS NFL Week 8 DraftKings Milly Maker Review

The Milly Maker is a large Field GPP where the top prize pays out $1,000,000. Read the winning trends that we’ve found by reviewing years of winning lineups!

The lineup that took down the Week 8 Milly Maker was a contrarian stack surrounded by great chalk plays – something we see DFS Pros build for every week when we do the Milly Maker Review & dissect the MME Strategy of DFS Pros. What stack took the $1,000,000 home? Let’s take a look.

Week 8 Points
Dak Prescott 32.06
Alvin Kamara 27
Breece Hall 21.3
AJ Brown 36
Ceedee Lamb 44
Michael Gallup 4
Trey Mcbride 25.5
Deandre Hopkins 37.8
Seahawks DST 10
Total  237.66

Stacking

This was a throwback for the QB Double stack crowd. This stack was interesting, however, because Gallup was in the stack but he wasn’t needed. It was the definition of getting an A on the group project and hardly doing anything. The Dak + Lamb stack broke the slate for over 75 points and Gallup added another 4 FPTS. This also marked the 3rd time this year that there wasn’t a secondary stack.

Total Stacking Points: 80.06 FPTS

Total Stacking Ownership: 19.59%

$1,000,000 Milly Maker Ownership

Week 8 Ownership
Dak Prescott 6.43%
Alvin Kamara 29.66%
Breece Hall 45.13%
AJ Brown 21.71%
Ceedee Lamb 5.41%
Michael Gallup 7.75%
Trey Mcbride 19.50%
Deandre Hopkins 0.87%
Seahawks DST 8.60%
Total DST 145.06%

As I mentioned in the opening sentence of this article, this lineup ate a lot of chalk. Kamara at almost 30%, Hall at 45%, AJ Brown at 21%, & Mcbride at 19%. This lineup got different in key spots, however, as the Dak + 2 stack was only 19% rostered, (about 6% each player) and Deandre Hopkins was less than 1% owned. 145% was the 2nd highest total ownership we’ve seen all season from the winning Milly Maker build, and the seasonal average sits at 122% after 8 weeks.

Top Leverage Plays

Dak at 6%

Dak projected as the chalk and yet nobody was really on him in Cash games or in large Field GPP’s. The best part is he was direct leverage off of Pollard who the field was really on, and Dak projected well as he kept coming up when I was running optimals in the DFS Army Domination Station.

Lamb at 5%

Lamb projected well and yet the field snoozed on him. He was direct leverage off of Brown, Chase, Hill, Addison and the rest of the field.

Hopkins at .87%

The field probably should’ve thought, what if a gunslinger like Levis comes in and targets Hopkins over and over? That’s exactly what happened and if you’re a DFS Army Subscriber who watches Tournament Tactics, BobbyWow called out this stack before last week.

Pricing and Value from the Milly Maker Contest

Week 8 Pricing FPTS per Dollar
Dak Prescott $6,100 5.25X
Alvin Kamara $7,300 3.69X
Breece Hall $5,900 3.61X
AJ Brown $8,000 4.5X
Ceedee Lamb $7,600 5.78X
Michael Gallup $3,400 1.17X
Trey Mcbride $2,800 9.10X
Deandre Hopkins $5,500 6.87X
Seahawks DST $3,400 2.94X
Total DST $50,000 4.75X

Surprise, Surprise! This lineup didn’t feature a player in the $8500-$9500 range. Only twice this season has there been a player above $8500 in the winning Milly Maker build. It’s really difficult for a player of that pricing to hit 4X their salary to keep pace for a tournament winning score but it’s a lot easier for a guy like Lamb who has the potential to put up 40 to get 4-6X on his $7600 salary. This lineup featured the Dak Double stack that was an average salary of $5700, and that allowed Kamara and AJ Brown in the build as well which brought the needed ceiling thanks to outlier performances from Deandre Hopkins, Trey Mcbride, and Ceedee Lamb. Lamb hit over 5.78X his salary, Hopkins 6.87X, and Mcbride 9.10X!

Ceiling

After 8 weeks of the NFL Season, we have 5 weeks with a winning score of under 240 points and a couple of high scoring weeks of 259 and 295 points to bring the season average to 245 points.
