Quarterbacks to Stream – Week 3 NFL Fantasy Football

DFS Army’s Gthom goes over the quarterbacks to stream this week. Most quarterbacks featured on this list are available in at least 40-percent of leagues.

Tua Tagovailoa (MIA) vs BUF

While it may be downhill for Tua Tags after his four touchdown and 469-yard game against Baltimore, there is still plenty of meat on the bone in Week 3. This is also the only quarterback featured on this list that I am confident in for rest-of-season.

To be honest, this play comes more from game environment than fantasy analysis. This game features the highest projected game total for Week 3, with 53 points, and it easily stands out amongst the other games after seeing Miami in Week 2. In addition, two of the last three meetings between Buffalo and Miami, at Hard Rock Stadium, has gone over 56 total points.

We know that Buffalo’s quarterback Josh Allen can score against any team, Miami is no different. If Miami has a shot to win this game, it will likely be on the back of Miami’s skill players: Jaylon Waddle and Tyreek Hill, who are fed by Tua Tagovailoa. Miami is luckily playing at home too.

I would be willing to use a high-priority waiver position and 15% of FAAB on Tagovailoa, more if I lost Dak Prescott or Trey Lance. I really like his ceiling going forward so this would be a buy-and-hold player. If he goes off against Buffalo, he won’t see the waiver wire again.

Tua could be hard to come by, he is available in 36-percent of Sleeper leagues.

Carson Wentz (WAS) vs PHI

Wentz has looked great for fantasy through two games and he has scored 30.72 and 28.78-fantasy points. Surrounding Wentz with quality skill players has seemingly relaunched him into fantasy relevancy and you should like him in Week 3.

Wentz will be taking the Eagles on at home, something I greatly prefer with my streaming quarterbacks. But I really love the game environment for this game, as well as the Eagles’ ability to score points.

Right now the game is projected to have a 49-point total with the Eagles being 6.5-point road favorites. Washington should be down and trailing, which will open up the passing lanes as the game progresses. Philly’s offense has also been elite. If Washington is keeping things close we should assume that the Eagles are also scoring points, this is a plus for Wentz.

It is hard to see how good the Philly defense is against fantasy football quarterbacks through two games. So far they have been pesky and suppressed quarterback production to 14.2-FPPG (they have faced Jared Goff and awful-on-primetime Kirk Cousins). I would not worry about that too much against the Commanders, it will likely be the toughest game for Philly on the year (so far).

Wentz is available in 46-percent of Sleeper leagues. I would be willing to burn 3-percent FAAB on him, a little more if you are missing Dak Prescott or Trey Lance.

Matt Ryan (IND) vs KC

This was probably the worst possible quarterback to start in Week 2, and if receiver Michael Pittman is out again I would not play Ryan in Week 3. But look for a bounce back Week 3 from Matty Ice, as this game is indoors and in the comfort of his home stadium.

His opponent, through two games, has allowed 23.3-fantasy points to the quarterback position; that is 7th-worst in the NFL. The projected game total is also 49.5 points with the Colts being 7-point home underdogs. Indy will be trailing often in this game which points towards a reliance on the passing game. If Indy is matching the Chiefs’ offensive output, it should lead to an easy path of fantasy relevancy for Ryan in Week 3.

Look for a couple of touchdowns from Matt Ryan, but anything more would be a bonus. Jonathan Taylor could always go off and steal the tuddies, which is another risk of streaming Ryan.

Ryan is available in 57-percent of Sleeper leagues. I would not burn a waiver position or FAAB to acquire him.
