CFL DFS – Week 2 Early Look

Canadian Fantasy Football (CFL) can be incredibly lucrative if you know how to manipulate the roster requirements and scoring. Daily fantasy players (with little experience) can profit quickly with just some basic information because very little is written about CFL inside the industry. My name is DFS Spreadsheets (@dfs_spreadsheet on Twitter)  I’m a data analyst by trade, and love digging into the intricacies that give our players advantages no one else can deliver.

MLB DFS Picks

The charts below shows home/away split data from the past 9 games as well as overall date from the past 18 games

MONTREAL @ TORONTO

This game has the second highest O/U this week at 47.5. Historical data also shows that this game has the potential to be very high scoring. Toronto is averaging almost 28 points per game over their last 9 home games and Montreal is averaging 30 points per game over their last 9 away games and 26 points per game over their last 18 games overall.

Montreal suffered a huge loss WEEK 1 when William Stanback left the game with what turned out to be a fractured ankle. Jeshrun Antwi – $4500 took over for Stanback and finished with 98 yards on only 7 carries. I will have a lot of interest at his price if he gets the start. Montreal also signed RB Shane Simpson – $2500 so we will have to wait until depth charts are released to see the confirmed starter. Reggie White Jr. – $5700  led Montreal with 8 targets and Eugene Lewis – $10600 finished with 4/112/0

As for Toronto, they had a bye in Week 1 so I’m not really too sure what to expect from them. McLeod Bethel-Thompson has some great weapons however he did not reach 300 yards in any of his 9 games played last season. Toronto signed Andrew Harris and Brandon Banks this offseason – curious to see if either has anything left to offer. Harris is 35 and Banks had the worse season of his career last year – only hitting 15 DK points twice.

Favourite Plays:

Vernon Adams Jr. – $10100
Jeshrun Antwi – $4500
Eugene Lewis – $10600
Jake Wieneke – $10100
Reggie White Jr. – $5700

McLeod Bethel-Thompson – $9800
DaVaris Daniels – $8100
Eric Rogers – $7500
Kurleigh Gittens Jr. – $7200

WINNIPEG @ OTTAWA

Ottawa totally caught me by surprise. I expected them to be better than last season but I did not expect them to walk into Winnipeg and almost come away with the victory. They won the time of possession battle and had 152 more total yards of offence. Jeremiah Masoli – $9900 threw for 380 yards and finished the week as the third highest scoring QB on Draftkings. Former Bomber Darvin Adams – $7400  led the way with 9 targets and Jaelon Acklin – $9000 had a 6/143 stat line on 8 targets.

Winnipeg won last week but they didn’t look great. Their run game was very ineffective, only managing 50 yards on 19 attempts. Greg Ellingson – $8500  led the way with 7/74/1 while rookie Dalton Schoen – $3800  and Rasheed Bailey – $7800  each had 6 targets.

Favourite Plays:

Jeremiah Masoli – $9900
Jaelon Acklin – $9000
Darvin Adams – $7400
Justin Hardy – $2800

Greg Ellingson – $8500
Rasheed Bailey – $7800
Dalton Schoen – $3800

NFL Season Pass DFS

CALGARY @ HAMILTON

Calgary had the most pass attempts in Week 1 (39) but Bo Levi Mitchell only had 199 passing yards and left the game in the 4th quarter with an injury. Ka’Deem Carey – $9700 had 2 tds and 60 yards rushing. He also caught 3/5 targets for 30 yards. Richie Sindani – $5200  led the way with 7/101 on 9 targets. Malik Henry – $5100 and Kamar Jorden – $8400 each had 7 targets but only managed 36 and 35 yards respectively.

Not a great start to the season for Dane Evans. He threw for 222 with 2 picks and 2 lost fumbles. The run game also struggled – amassing 26 yards on 11 attempts. Don Jackson only saw 5 carries. Bralon Addison – $9100 led all CFL WR with 11 targets last week. Dunbar/Papi White/Tim White had 4 targets each

Favourite Plays:

Reggie Begelton – $9700
Ka’Deem Carey – $9700
Kamar Jorden – $8400
Richie Sindani – $5200
Malik Henry – $5100

Bralon Addison – $9100
Steven Dunbar Jr. – $6800
Papi White – $4400

SASKATCHEWAN @ EDMONTON

After a very uneventful three quarters, the Riders put up 18 points in the fourth for the victory. Cody Fajardo – $10400 threw for over 300 yards and added 42 more on the ground. Fajardo looked for Shaq Evans – $8700 often with Evans going for 4/92 on 10 targets. Evans finished second in the league Week 1 with 129 air yards. Duke Williams – $8600 had 7 targets and Kian Schaffer-Baker – $6400 had a 4/32/1 stat line. Jamal Morrow – $6700  only had 14 rushing yards on 9 carries but he had 3/61 through the air and was also the primary kick returner. He faces Edmonton which just gave up 187 yards and 5 TDS on 25 rush attempts.

What a disaster for Edmonton. Not a whole lot to like from Week 1 for the Elks. Arbuckle threw for 254, 0 TDs and 3 picks. There’s not a whole lot I trust from Edmonton right now after that debacle – plus they face the Sask defence that just put up 22 DK points. Kenny Lawler Jr. – $9900 is great but I don’t love the matchup or his price to go along with how bad Arbuckle was last game. Lawler went 5/72 on 6 targets and Derel Walker – $6500 went 6/64 on 9 targets.

Favourite Plays:

Cody Fajardo – $10400
Shaq Evans – $8700
Duke Williams – $8600
Jamal Morrow – $6700
Kian Schaffer-Baker – $6400

Kenny Lawler Jr. – $9900
Derel Walker – $6500
