The Simple Six | DFS NFL Week 10 Leans for DraftKings and Fanduel

Welcome to week 10 of the NFL Season, aka D’Ernest Johnson week.  If Nick Chubb misses this Sunday’s contest, as expected with Covid, we could be looking at an under 5k free square running back.  I am going to take out my knife, fork and eat this chalk, but that is only one roster spot out of nine.  Here are six of my favorite plays of the slate to help you fill out the rest of your lineup.

NFL DFS

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (28) rushes 78 yards for a touchdown Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, during a game against the New York Jets at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

1- Jonathan Taylor, $8,100 on DraftKings

JT is dead in the middle of the type run that got everyone who owned him in season long paid last season.  He’s averaging 28.4 DK points, while scoring 9 touch downs over his last 6 games.  We don’t like to play Taylor when we are concerned that game script may work against him and Hines will take the passing down work.  That should not be the case here as the Colts are 10 point home favorites against a bad Jags team.

With Eric Fisher and Quenton Nelson healthy, Indy finally has their powerful offensive line operating at full force.  I will gladly spend up to lock Taylor into most of my NFL lineups at $8,100 in this spot.

2- Najee Harris, $7,900 on DraftKings NFL

Let’s not overcomplicate things.  We have a talented, 3 down running back, who plays virtually every snap for a 7.5 point favorite.  And this running back is playing the Lions.  I am going to play Najee in cash.  I am going to play him in GPPs.  I will get cute and find my NFL DFS leverage elsewhere.  He was limited at Thursday’s practice with a foot injury, so you do have to monitor his status Sunday morning.  Assuming all systems are go, I’ll plug Harris right into my lineups.

JT and Najee are both $9,400 and a bit more expensive on Fanduel.  If you want to diversify your RB pool, I would do it there.  On DraftKings, I plan to heavily over the field on both star backs.

3- Tyler Johnson, $3,300 on DraftKings and $5,100 on Fanduel

If we are going play JT and Harris, we are going to need to save some salary somewhere.  Johnson is a crisp route runner with good hands.  He has yet to make a real impact mainly because he’s been buried on Tampa’s talented WR depth chart.  Well, that NFL depth chart is thinning out quickly.  Antonio Brown is going to miss at least another week, and now Chris Godwin is questionable with a foot injury.  If Godwin sits, it opens up even more snaps and targets for Johnson who caught a respectable 5 balls for 65 in Tampa’s last game against the Saints.

The Washington secondary has been a train wreck all season.  I’ll take the man who could very well be getting the second most targets from Tom Brady at barely above min-price.

4- Tom Brady, $7,600 on DraftKings and $8,300 on Fanduel

I know that I have been guilty of not playing enough Brady in DFS or drafting enough of him in Best Ball, because it is hard to pick who to stack him with.  That is not a problem this week, especially if Godwin and Gronk join Antonio Brown on the NFL inactive list.  You obviously play a fairly priced Mike Evans ($6,900 on DK and $7,400 on FD), use Ty Johnson to save salary, and run it back with McLaurin.  Sometimes the stack builds itself.

You beat the Washington D through the air and Brady has been stat chasing all season.  We currently show Brady as being relatively low owned.  Perhaps the Godwin injury is scaring people off.  I will be glued to the Domination Station Sunday morning to get a better feel for how popular Brady will be.  If you are not already signed up for VIP Access, do so now so you too can have the best projections and ownership data.

5- Dan Arnold, $3,500 on DraftKings and $5,100 on Fanduel NFL

We spent a lot of time in the offseason trying to figure out who would emerge as Trevor Lawrence’s favorite target.  Would it be DJ Chark, Laviska Shenault, or Marvin Jones?  I don’t think anyone could have predicted that it would wind up being a tight end who was on the Panthers at the time.  Over the last 4 weeks Arnold has averaged 7.5 targets and 5 receptions per game.  He has yet to fine the end zone, but the usage is there.  If he gets his first NFL TD this week against an Indy team that has been soft against the tight end, he will be a great play at these prices.  I’ve already said I am going have a ton of JT, so I like running it back with Dan Arnold in a little bit of a skinny stack.

6- Elijah Moore, $4,700 on DraftKings and $5,700 on Fanduel

It may seem a little point chasey to play Moore the week after his breakout 2 TD performance against the Colts, but I don’t look at it that way.  I don’t view this as chasing 2 touch downs from a turd who randomly popped off.  I look at it as I loved Moore coming into this season, and the talent rookie is finally healthy and hitting his stride.

His 27.4 DK points verse Indy didn’t come completely out of nowhere.  He caught all 6 of his targets for 67 yards the week before against the Bengals.  I think Mike White (or even Josh Johnson if White’s arm injury flares up again) are an upgrade at this point over Zack Wilson.

The Jets should have to throw to keep pace with Buffalo and I actually like Corey Davis returning with regard to the Elijah Moore play.  Davis will likely attract the attention of stud corner Tre’Davious White, who otherwise may have shadowed Moore.  The Jet rookie does not need to replicate his 2 TD game in order to provide value at these still discounted prices.
