DFS NBA Full Court Press: Fanduel & DraftKings Main Slate, Opening Night 10/19

10/19 NBA DFS Full Court Press, Opening Night!

Welcome to another year of the DFS Army NBA Full Court Press! Members had a ton of success using the Full Court Press along with various articles and tools that DFS Army provides last season, so we are glad to be back with another year of the all-inclusive article. You have to start your research somewhere, and oftentimes going game by game and breaking down every matchup and its key players is the first step in our process. My name is Steve aka @Mutt18 on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the advice in the article. But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. We also have NEW pricing options, where you can sign up for WEEKLY access as opposed to be committed for a full month, so you have no excuse to try us out! With that said, let’s get it started!

What a game to kick off the NBA season! We have what will likely be the Eastern Conference Finals here and the big news here is that Kyrie Irving will not be with the Nets for at least the start of the season. With Kyrie off the court, James Harden had a 34.9% usage rate and averaged 1.69 FPPM, while Kevin Durant had a 34% usage rate and averaged 1.61 FPPM, both will be elite options in this game but will also be chalky on a two game slate, my best advice would be to grab at least 1 of them in every lineup with my preference on Harden as Kyrie being out benefits him the most. With Irving out, it should also increase the roles for both Bruce Brown and Joe Harris as well, where I like Harris more on DK and Brown more on FanDuel as he contributes more in peripheral stats where Harris is mostly just a scorer. The Nets have also added Paul Millsap, Patty Mills, and James Johnson who should all eat into the usage of Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge. My favorite off the radar play will be Nic Claxton as the Nets really want to continue to develop him and he saw significant minutes down the stretch last year, but overall I’ll be targeting mostly Harden and KD from the Nets.

On the Bucks side of the ball, the big 3 of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday has stayed intact, and those guys will eat up the majority of the usage. Giannis has also looked fantastic in the preseason, including an improved jumper, so he could easily break the slate in what should be a very competitive game. They will be without Donte DiVincenzo to start the year as well, so I see Grayson Allen and Pat Connaughton filling in that role to start the year, with my preference being on Patty C. Rodney Hood is also an interesting GPP flier, as I see him leading the 2nd unit here in scoring and he is cheap on both sites, he has GPP winning upside on a small slate like this. Overall, this is another team where you’ll have to take risks as value as the usage is contained mostly to the Bucks big 3.

5-star play: Giannis Antetokounmpo, James Harden, Kevin Durant

4-star play: Bruce Brown, Rodney Hood, Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton

Deeper Value: Patty Mills, Rodney Hood, Grayson Allen, Nic Claxton

GPP Sleeper: Rodney Hood, Patty Mills, Nic Claxton

Golden State Warriors @ Los Angeles Lakers

Vegas Total: 228

Vegas Spread: Lal -3.5

The nightcap of opening night will be the Warriors vs. the Lakers, and this could very well be a Western Conference Finals preview as well. The Warriors are getting healthy, as Stephen Curry is ready to go here to start the year, and with Klay Thompson out he should be in line for big time usage. Draymond Green is also rock solid here, and contributes in all categories, so I prefer him more on FanDuel. James Wiseman will also be out to start the year, along with Jonathan so Nemanja Bjelica should draw the start alongside Green in that frontcourt. Otto Porter Jr. will also likely slide into that Kelly Oubre role to start the year, as it’ll likely be him, Andrew Wiggins (who is never exciting to roster) and Curry in the front court. Damion Lee and Jordan Poole will also likely be the first guys off the bench here and provide some value on a small slate that lacks it with my preference being on Poole.

For the Lakers, this will take a few games to shake out as they made a huge offseason acquisition in Russell Westbrook and he will soak up a ton of usage here and will take away from both LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but all 3 are still elite plays especially on a slate where they’ll be much lower owned than KD and Harden. The Lakers have also added Kendrick Nunn, DeAndre Jordan, and Carmelo Anthony who will also soak up usage, but I expect those guys to run with the 2nd unit, all 3 present decent value here on a small slate. Rajon Rondo and Dwight Howard have also returned, and both should see significant roles early on, and I do believe Howard will start alongside AD in that front court.

5-star play: Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook

4-star play: Draymond Green, Anthony Davis, Carmelo Anthony, Nemanja Bjelica

Deeper Value: Damion Lee, Jordan Poole, Otto Porter Jr., Dwight Howard, Kendrick Nunn

GPP Sleeper: Kendrick Nunn, Rajon Rondo, Nemanja Bjelica
