Watkins Glen

AND WE ARE BACK!!! Thankfully the Olympics are over and we can get back to the greatness that is NASCAR DFS. This week NASCAR attacks one of the coolest tracks in the world, Watkins Glen International. It is just under 2.5 miles in length and produces some of the best road course racing of any track in the world. The Truck Series will be making their return to the track for the first time since the year 2000 when Greg Biffle won. Due to length of the track there are a low number of total laps. Also, the length of the track opens up the strategy game with teams pitting early to make sure they stay out front if caution were to come out. This can shake up the field for a period of time and mix up the lap leaders. Due to road racing being such a departure from the normal oval racing action we see weekly it is important to get as much info as possible on every driver. The DFS Army Research Station is the best place to get all the practice and track history info for each driver.

Defending Race Winner: Chase Elliott

NASCAR Cup Series DFS Outlook

Road course racing starts and ends with Chase Elliott these days. He has won 6 of the last 8 on this track type and the last two here at The Glen. He starts 11th, will offer some place diff points, and should be the favorite to win. You either need to lean into Chase and go over ownership or go lite and happen for variance. From there, most people will lineup with Kyle Busch and Chase Briscoe. They will be two of the favorite place differential plays. Salaries this week are more of a challenge and will make lineup building harder. You will likely need to take a risk on both DK and FD within lineups to hit the right one. There doesn’t seem to be straight forward obvious builds this week.

4:00 p.m. ET, Saturday, August 7
(Stages: 20/20/42 laps= 200 miles)
TV: CNBC
Radio: MRN, Sirius XM NASCAR

Defending Race Winner: Austin Cindric

NASCAR Xfinity Series DFS Outlook

Short race with some huge obvious place diff plays. Erik Jones and Austin Dillon will compete in the race in fringe top 10 cars and will start ultra deep in the field. Austin Cindric and AJ Allmendinger will be our favorites for the win and we also get some good mid range options in  Pardus, Bilicki, and Labbe who all have place differential upside. I think this race will end up rather chalky meaning you want to look for ways to differentiate yourself form the field. Whether that is fading top drivers or taking risk on Random value plays is up to you. There are a few one of random drivers in this race that you will want to do some additional research on as well. Smith, Munley, and Tilley are going to be interesting plays this week for sure.

NASCAR Truck Series DFS Outlook

Tons of massive place differential plays in this race. There are about 8 plays that all have big upside that could lead to a race winner not ending up on an optimal lineup. AJ Allmendiger was added to the race late with Chase Purdy testing positive for COVID. This will be a race about choosing the right place diff plays and mixing them with the best value plays. Because there are so many possible plays, ownership will be more spread out which is nice. This is a very short race which gives the place differential plays bigger upsides than possible race winning dominators like John Hunter Nemechek and Todd Gilliland. This is a great race to use the Domination Station to help spread out your ownership across all the top plays.
