Talladega Superspeedway
This weekend the Cup Series heads to Talladega Superspeedway. At 2.66 miles Talladega is the largest oval on the NASCAR schedule. The cars run in big packs and run 3, 4, and even 5 wide throughout the race. The draft is a major factor that keeps all the cars close to each other. Due to the cars all running near each other when something goes wrong it often results in massive wrecks. These massive wrecks are referred to as “The Big One” and will eliminate quite a few cars from the race whenever one happens. This is the most important aspect of this race for DFS but also the most impossible to predict. You just never know who may be involved in one. When making lineups, you will need to use past history to make educated guesses for who might be more likely to avoid these wrecks. Teamwork is a massive factor for this race. Teams from the same organization and even the same manufacturer will work together to beat the competition. Team and manufacturer stacks are in play as a result.

DraftKings
SuperSpeedway races on DraftKings are usually always about the place differential plays. The Cup races see tons of carnage usually which gives the backmarker drivers and drivers who start deep in the field who avoid the wrecks big upsides. One thing I have to mention is that 2020 has seen relatively tame races on Superspeedways. I don’t expect that to be the case this time around though. I am playing with the mindset that we will see tons of carnage. Due to numerous teams needing help to advance in the playoffs and with multiple drivers needing to make a statement as they have no 2021 plans set yet. I typically don’t play anyone starting top 10 but if you want to do so then play at most 2 but realistically 1. We do sometimes see one driver lead a bunch of laps here but since fast laps are spread throughout the field, their overall score isn’t as high as you would expect. They also must finish up front to matter.
Favorite DK Play: Corey Lajoie
Lajoie has finishes of 11th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 16th over his last 6 plate races. The dude stays out of trouble until late and then capitalizes with great finishes. Starts deep in the field and should contend for the optimal again.
FanDuel
FanDuel is difficult on Superspeedways because you basically need the perfect lineup. You have to pick 5 top finishers who will stay out of the wrecks and also offer place differential points. All those drivers starting 8th-25th are must-plays and then you try to hit on the 1-2 huge place differential punts like Lajoie. It is such a difficult site to play these races on. You simply either play it safe and play drivers you hope make it to the end to profit but you will not score big that way. To win big on FanDuel you must honestly get a bit lucky and hit on the right combo of drivers.
Favorite FD Play: Ricky Stenhouse
Offers race-winning ability and a bunch of place diff points. This is the type of play you attack on FanDuel. I also like Reddick and Bubba Wallace in this situation
