The Sway Bar: Top NASCAR Plays, Fades and Values for Richmond

This week we had to Richmond for some Saturday night short tracking. We should have lots of data, as the package was used earlier in the year, and we can gleam some things from similar packages in 2018. As always, the research is just getting started, so think about getting signed up and get exclusive access to our projection model, the domination station lineup optimizer, and most importantly, direct chat room access to some of the sharpest NASCAR minds in the industry. I will be on there all weekend updating everyone on my research.

Top PlaysBrad Keselowski – In the two races where we used this package this year, Penske led to 53.9% laps, and in the predictive races from 2018 – Joey and Brad led significant laps in 3/5 of the events. That all spells out a potential good run for the two. Brad K starts 9th at a track where is probably top 5. He loves the package and most importantly – the attention is all on Kevin Harvick and the Joe Gibbs stable (who have won four races in a row here). I adore Brad K as a potential slate breaker.

Kevin Harvick – In the predictive races I talked about above – Harvick finished top 5 in all seven and won two of them. He led laps in every single one. Given these incredible stats and his first place starting spot, he is near impossible to fade. He hasn’t actually won here since 2013, but has been a top five staples and should gobble up a bunch of laps led so a win isnt necessary.

Joey Logano – This is a risky pivot to a guy I suspect won’t go over 20% owned. Joey was top 3 in driver rating in the two races that used this package this year. He starts second and Penskes short run burst could get him the lead off the jump. This is a a risky play but I think you can get easy leverage for a driver who could dominate this race.

Chase Elliott – A nice pivot off chalky Truex Jr, who I am not super bullish on this week. Chase was a top two car at Phoenix (where this package was used) and is in the top five in five of seven of my predictive races. Another guy I think you can get some sneaky leverage on.

Fades

JJ Yeley
Joey Gase
James Davison
Timmy Hill
Reed Sorenson
Quin Houff
Brennan Poole

Value Plays

Ryan Newman – Newman is coming off back to back top fives at Richmond, and though is 2018 Richmond performances weren’t the best, he still showed up alot in the other predictive races. I have him racing inside the top 15 most of the day.

Christopher Bell – Bell LOVES Richmond. In the Xfinity series he won 3/4 of his starts at Richmond and it wasn’t particularly close. He should run really well here and push forward from a 26th place starting spot without much issue.

Ty Dillon – Dillon is kind of stuck in between JHN and Chris Buescher, who are both good plays but should have higher ownership. Ty ran 20th here in 2018 and pulled out a 15th at Phoenix earlier this year. He is very live for a top 20 and I think you can grab some easy leverage.

Bubba Wallace – Bubba starts 31st and only really needs to run top 20 to hit value. He ran 13th here last year and was decent enough at the predictive races. I think he will be very chalky, though.

Other Notables

Denny Hamlin, Truex Jr, Clint Bowyer, Dibenedetto are all worth a look

So there it is folks. Those are my favorite play this weekend.  Keep an eye on the DFS Army Slack Room right up until lock. Get signed up and get exclusive access to our projection model, the domination station lineup optimizer, and most importantly, direct chat room access to some of the sharpest NASCAR minds in the industry. As always, use my research as a launching point for yours. Trust your process, good luck this week, and let’s make some cash.
