Richmond

We have a very interesting weekend setup for Richmond. The Truck Series, which will race Thursday night, will return to Richmond for the first time since 2005. The Xfinity Series will run two races this weekend. One Friday night and the other Saturday afternoon. Lots of DFS potential this week due to these circumstances. Richmond is a 3/4 mile short track and has an extremely rough surface that wears tires out significantly. There is massive fall off so long run speed is crucial. Tracks that wear out tires generally have very little in terms of crashes due to the drivers being too focused on themselves and taking care of the tires. Should favor the veteran drivers who can take care of their tires and have speed on the long run.

Xfinity Series

Lots of laps this week for the Xfinity Series. This means tons of Dominator points are available. Kyle Busch is entered into the field and will start mid-pack. This means he will have some place diff potential to go along with the fact he likely dominates and wins this race. Of course, his price will be astronomical but I do believe that will be easy to deal with given the numerous viable cheap plays DK gives us weekly. I feel like this is a week where you really commit to Busch or you risk it with a fade. He is either going to crush the field because of the dominator points available or you can hope for the one of crash/part failure. Some other contenders this week should be Allgaier, Briscoe, and potentially Brandon Jones and Harrison Burton. Gibbs have been elite here over the last few years. I will run at least two dominators for this race but will attempt to get 3 in non Kyle Busch lineups.

Favorite Xfinity Series Play: Jeb Burton

This is the type of race where Jeb can get into a groove and take a really fast car and get a solid finish. Richmond is really a low variance track which should lower the chances that Jeb will crash. This car has top 5 upside and he will start deeper in the field due to Hemric’s finish last week and the driver change. His place differential ability is solid and if DK prices him like they have all year then he will be a solid play to pair with KB.

Truck Series

This should be a rather exciting race. I have always believed that the Truck Series is best suited for short tracks like Richmond so I am personally very excited about this race. Obviously, since the series hasn’t raced here since 2005 there will be few drivers with any experience at the track and teams will have to come up with viable setups without ever turning a lap on the track. This should give us some interesting results much as we got in the Truck race last week at Darlington. I will be using past race results at tracks like Iowa and Phoenix to help me decide on who the best plays may be. I will be looking to play at least two dominators but definitely looking to play three considering the large number of laps for this race.

Quick Facts

Date: September 10th

Race: Thursday 8:00 pm ET.

Laps: 250  Stages: 75/150/250

Drivers: 36

Defending Champion: Mike Skinner – 2005

Favorite Truck Series Play: David Ragan

Ragan looked solid last week but did not get the finish he should have. This means that he will again start very deep in the field. I like the place differential upside that he offers for this race. I am hoping DK doesn’t price him up this week. If he stays in the same range then he will offer really good value.
