Richmond

Richmond marks only the third short track race of the year which means we don’t have a lot of info to go off of. Last year’s rules package really benefitted the Joe Gibbs cars who absolutely destroyed the competition. I expect them to be good but for this race to be much more even overall. Tire wear is extremely high here and long run speed is vital. We have seen drivers two-stop stages in the past and gain several spots over the course of a green flag run. We see very few cautions here which plays even more into the hands of drivers with good long run speed.

DraftKings

Tons of dominator points in play this week has me really looking to play 3 dominator lineups. From there it is vital to use the rest of your salary wisely. Finding a pure punt play may be necessary to help make these lineups. A Yeley, Hill, Sorenson type play. It is important to be willing to sacrifice this spot so that you can get a driver who leads 50-100 laps and collects a bunch of fast laps. If you only play a 2 dominator strategy this week then it will be vital to hit on all 4 of the other drivers in the lineup. Drivers who can score 40+ and make up for the dominator points that a driver not in your lineup may get.

Favorite DK Play: Tyler Reddick

Reddick was one of the fastest cars at Phoenix and he finished 10th at New Hampshire. These are the two tracks I believe best match with Richmond this week. I expect he can finish top 15 and his price is great.

FanDuel

FanDuel is a 2 dominator race this week. Looking for the two drivers who can lead the most laps and then rounding out the lineup with the best possible options. This is a track that really favors good equipment so mid pack teams often struggle to keep in touch with the leaders. I believe it is important to pick value plays with as good equipment as possible. An example of this is Matt Dibenedetto. We know he is in Penske equipment and that he should have the speed to stay on the lead lap until late in the race. This will give him the opportunity at a great finish.

Favorite FD Play: Martin Truex Jr

Truex has led 100+ laps in 6 of the last 7 races here. He won both races here last year as well. He offers a decent amount of place diff points to go along with his race winning upside. I like him even if he never leads a lap but the upside he offers if he does lead is untouchable.
