Darlington

Throwback week at Darlington is finally here!! Darlington is perhaps the most historical track that NASCAR visits with a tradition that dates back to 1950. Every year teams run old school throwback paint schemes to celebrate the sport’s history. As for the race itself, it is very likely the most grueling that the series experiences. At nearly four hours long in the middle of Summer, the drivers struggle with their cars as one of the roughest surfaces in NASCAR causes extreme tire wear and handling issues. The drivers run right up against the outside while leaving little margin for error. Contact with the wall is fairly common and has been dubbed the Darlington Stripe. These incidents can sometimes cause minor damage or greatly hurt the handling of the cars through the loss of aero performance. Tire fall-off is massive at Darlington meaning that long-run speed is incredibly important.

DraftKings

SOOOOO many dominator points available which will lead me to play at least 2 dominators but really searching for 3 top dominator threats in every lineup. It is going to nearly impossible to ignore Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin this week. Both drivers won here back in May and they are both the two fastest cars this year. I would be shocked if one of them wasn’t in the winning lineup. I will be leaning heavily on the two races back in May to determine who the best mid-tier and value plays are. Place differential as always is key on DK and that will be no different this week. There are a few good options due to the results of the Talladega race.

Favorite DK Play: Matt Kenseth

Kenseth ran top 10 most of the time here back in May. He is really good here overall and is super cheap. Starting 26th with top 15 or even top 10 upside at $6,500 makes him a fantastic value. With a clean race, I think Kenseth ends up on the optimal lineup

FanDuel

On Fanduel, I will be looking to play two top tier drivers or dominators this week. There are some really strong value plays that should make this extremely viable to play even the highest priced drivers like Harvick and Hamlin together. I expect this to be a fairly straightforward race thus I will be playing the normal top Darlington contenders. There are a few top place differential plays available this week such as Reddick, Kenseth, and Jones. Jones will likely be the chalk but he might be too good to pass up.

Favorite FD Play: Erik Jones

Kind of a no brainer here. Jones has raced at Darlington 5 times in the Cup Series. His worst finish is 8th and he won here last year. Offers tons of place diff points to go with his top 10 upside.
